Which sandals should I buy... Clarks or Timberland?

The Timberland are very chunky and rather "clod hopper" like, the Clarks ones not so much.

I will post the links...

I have the timberland ones in gold. They are amazing and incredibly comfy. I’m debating buying a second pair in brown

This is the Camper sandal I tried to attach earlier. It clearly failed.

Just a note if you are buying DMs, they are 'Martens' Dr. Martensâ„¢ UK Official: Up To 40% Off Selected Styles not 'Martins'.

Not being pedantic, but fake ones are often listed as Dr Martins, at a too good to miss price.

Shame about the Camper ones. They look nice.

ChocolateGanache · 11/07/2025 08:55

The timberlands are WAY nicer imo.

Bryonyberries · 11/07/2025 17:32

I got a pair of landrover sandles recently and they are good for walking in and very comfy.

WalkingaroundJardine · 11/07/2025 22:42

I had a pair very similar to the Clark’s ones in my 20s. I loved them. A friend also went out and got the same pair. Maybe they just don’t look as good on older people.

If I had to pick between the pairs you are considering, I would go with the Timberland. They do look good, especially the colour. I have always liked a balance between chunky and feminine. My favourite style sandals are platform wedges.

Slightyamusedandsilly · 12/07/2025 10:02

Timberland. The Clarks ones look very orthopedic.

I used to wear the 1461 DM shoes quite happily, including with skirts, but I think that DM sandal style, plus the Timnerland ones, are too clunky in a sandal. I’d have the Clarks. I have to agree comfort is key, though-you won’t find yourself wanting to put on either if they aren’t really comfortable.

Skissors · 12/07/2025 18:01

Timberland

Thaawtsom · 12/07/2025 21:57

I know it sounds silly but it depends on what you want to wear them for: a wedding where you will be standing up all day? A work conference? Going to work? Just cos you are hot and mucking about? How much walking will you be doing in them etc.

I would not choose either of the styles you have, but that is because I have made the mistake of buying sandles like that before when my feet first started giving me a hard time. I hated them, they weren't as comfortable as I thought they would be, and I felt like an old lady. I wear birkenstocks now (and am currently at a conference and I have brought a pair of silver t-bar birks and a pair of trainers).

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 12/07/2025 22:11

Also look at Teva terra lite and merrell sandals, if comfort is the key objective.

HollyGolightly4 · 13/07/2025 06:47

I have the Timberland ones. I like the style and they're very comfy. They still look good 3 summers in! My DMs melted in the heat in Naples 🤣

SweetLathyrus · 13/07/2025 09:25

I prefer the look of the Timberlands. But I'd also suggest you look at the Joseph Seibel website - lots of choice, good for wide feet and mine lasted for years (I only tend to buy one pair, so they get lots of wear).

Heylittlesongbird · 13/07/2025 09:55

My mother in law would wear the Clarks ones very happily. However, she is 80.

Moveoverdarlin · 13/07/2025 09:57

LoyalMember · 09/07/2025 09:32

They both look like you'd wear them to a Greenpeace conference, but the Timby ones at a push.

Agree with this. I’m 47 and wouldn’t be seen dead in them.

My Mum is 79 and has just described them as old lady shoes. 😂

Grantanow · 13/07/2025 10:57

Get the ones best for your feet not fashion.

bellocchild · 13/07/2025 11:09

The Clarks Trivanni are surprisingly heavy, for hot weather.

Lol, to be fair, I've got to agree with you, but I've done the whole fashion thing and it killed my wide feet.😑😂

Of course, you can get trendy shoes for people with less dainty feet but mine are always ths bane of my life, so comfortable but hopefully a bit fashionable shoes are key for me these days.

I've kind of decided on these Hotter ones now but will they still make me look old lady like? 😂

No, @ForeverDelayedEpiphany those won't look 'old-ladyish', unless you look like an old lady! - I like them - and hotter have a sale on at the moment!

Edited to add . . .

But there's nothing wrong with looking like an old lady if you're confident and rocking it - better than smooth and fake!!

SulkySeagull · 13/07/2025 13:34

wtf are those Clarks ones 😂

TJNutbrook · 13/07/2025 14:19

I also have wide feet & fallen arches so finding comfortable, stylish sandals are a nightmare. I have some cream Karrimor walking sandals which are extremely comfy but the cream suede insole became discoloured quickly and cleaning it doesn’t make it look much better so I will be avoiding a light coloured insole in future. I’ve seen a lot of women wearing dresses with trainers lately so while seemingly acceptable fashion wise, I prefer sandals to keep my feet cooler. Maybe looking at walking sandals might give you some options, they’re comfortable and some can be quite dainty looking.
