Which sandals should I buy... Clarks or Timberland?

The Timberland are very chunky and rather "clod hopper" like, the Clarks ones not so much.

I will post the links...

@ForeverDelayedEpiphany i have each of those types (not same brands but otherwise literally the exact style!). If I’m wearing a delicate knee length dress I like the delicate (Clarks) ones and if I’m wearing a longer dress or linen trousers I wear my chunkier ones 🙂

Timberland

Malevich02 · 09/07/2025 14:54

They both look great

GarlicMetre · 09/07/2025 16:00

This one's good. The width is 100% adjustable, and the soles unbelievably comfortable (I've got an injury on the base of my heel, and these shoes don't hurt!) They're also lightweight, while many clumpy shoes are heavy.

Anyhow, I recommend the Clarks purely for comfort.

Timberland. I like them

TiredAllNight · 09/07/2025 16:31

Both good, I too prefer the timberland ones. I’ve had a pair of their boots for about 20 years and they are still good.
i bought some Hotter Tourists in black, as someone recommended them here, although I really wanted DM fishermen’s, but they were a bit expensive.

The Hotter are supposed to be the most comfortable ever, they are ok, but the recommender clearly hadn’t worn some M&S trainers that are much better for long days walking 🤣

My mum wouldn’t dream of trainers, but they are so good. M&S trainers particularly so, and better priced than named versions.

I have the timberland ones!

DuchessOfNarcissex · 09/07/2025 16:50

@TiredAllNight , those M&S trainers are amazingly comfortable.
I've been told that the Hotter sandals are comfortable by someone who was wearing them all day and we must have walked miles.

vix3rd · 09/07/2025 17:02

I have both makes of sandals & I'm a 6.
Timberlands are small made. Clarks are big made.

Aworldofmyown · 09/07/2025 19:17

Timberland

RoseAylingEllisFanClub · 09/07/2025 19:42

If comfort is important, I personally wouldn’t buy either of those - the textile sole on the Clark’s and the leather - but suede - footbed on the Timberland will rub on hot days.

It’s a sign of cheap production, but fortunately Clark’s are coming back to proper smooth leather insoles at long last on a lot of their current season. So much more comfortable.

It might be worth having a look at Moshulu - funky colours and leather footbeds for a lot of their models. For example:

ThistleTits · 09/07/2025 21:44

@ForeverDelayedEpiphany Timberlands for me. The others look too flat imo.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 09/07/2025 21:46

@RoseAylingEllisFanClub 's Moshulus look great to me.

RampantIvy · 09/07/2025 22:37

I prefer the Clarks ones Blush
Clumpy sandals may be trendy, but they are so ugly.

Redrosesposies · 09/07/2025 23:59

I'm 65 and a granny. I wouldn't wear either of them.

TenaciousDeeds · 10/07/2025 00:08

They are both awful and scream “I’m just over dying my grey hair”. Sorry.

Branleuse · 10/07/2025 00:30

I love the timberland ones and hate the Clarks ones

SouthernNights59 · 10/07/2025 02:13

The Timberland ones are much nicer than the Clarks.

Strumpetpumpet · 10/07/2025 06:32

I have those exact same Timberland ones and they are really comfortable. I have very fussy and sensitive feet so have to go for comfort all the way and these are great x

spoonbillstretford · 10/07/2025 16:25

Clarks sandals are not a guide for comfort, sadly, as I found when I bought "comfortable" sandals when I was pregnant and they rubbed my feet to bits, and the last cloddhopping Clarks version of DMs a few years ago which were not comfy at all. However I got some orange espadrilles from them this year and they are so comfortable and I get lots of compliments.

IMO I'm 49 and tend to find 60+ women and Gen Y women more likely to wear dainty heels and uncomfortable footwear. Gen X and Zs wear comfy clumpy shoes like platforms, wedges and flats, - perhaps a nod to a kitten heel every now and then. We've never really got on with proper heels.

EvilDJ · 10/07/2025 16:37

There is something spartan about the Clarks ones.

Poppykins1971 · 10/07/2025 21:20

Try looking at Moda in pelle Shoon Sh Shipshape Tan Leather

Flamingoknees · 10/07/2025 22:08

Clarks ones are terrible. Tumberland are the lesser of 2 evils. Very old lady vibes. Have you looked at DM sandals?

possomblossom · 10/07/2025 22:12

I have the actual Clarks you're looking at (in brown/tan). I find them super comfortable - put in 15,000 steps in them today and despite the hot weather, had no problems. I think they're actually attractive and look good on. Each to their own. I also have a pair of Camper Extralight sandals with a suede insole- they rubbed my feet to pieces - I was very disappointed.

possomblossom · 10/07/2025 22:19

This is the Camper sandal. Not a recommended from me. Cue the Granny jibes.
