How many & what handbags do you have?

I’ve always been a massive handbag lover and used to have a big collection, but in recent years sold them in favour of having only a few with very specific purposes so I know I’ll get use out of them. I hated seeing them sat there unused but still lust over the thought of having lots of gorgeous ones for all different occasions! Let me live vicariously through you by telling me what ones you have and what you use them for - I’ll go first:

Black Longchamp Le Pliage in Large - gift from my partner for my last birthday. Since becoming a mum back in April this has been my daily runaround as I can fit pretty much everything in it. The corners are starting to look tatty already which pisses me off considering it’s still quite an expensive bag!

Mint Velvet Chain Crossbody - i bought this about 4 years ago as it’s a dupe for the Saint Laurent nikki. It’s incredibly tatty and beaten up but has so many compartments and so easy to chuck on. I use this when I don’t need to carry much or want the ease.

Lulu Guinness x Waitrose Shopper - couldn't resist this at the price point and mostly just use it as an overnight bag if I’m going away.

Louis Vuitton Alma BB - a very very generous gift from my partner for my 21st birthday (many moons ago…). I will always love and cherish this bag and plan to pass it on to my daughter when she is old enough to appreciate it.

That’s it. I would like to grow this collection by adding a small crossbody that only fits the absolute essentials, and maybe a nicer overnight/travel bag.

At the moment I switch between a black Valentino Alexia tote and a medium hipster crossbody Vera Bradley bag depending on what I need to carry with me or where I’m going.

I have a bit of a problem though as I have two other Vera Bradleys, numerous Cath Kidstons (I’ve honestly lost count), a small Kurt Geiger, a couple of Radleys and a couple of Ness bags, and a whole bunch of lovely unbranded ones. There’s probably even more that I’ve forgotten I have tbh. DH just rolls his eyes when he seems me gravitating towards handbags in a shop now.

I love a good handbag, I had an (unhealthy…) obsession about 10 years ago but have since sold quite a few and will continue to do so I think. I have:

• Mimi Berry Francis crossbody in black. Such a workhorse, brilliant value.
• Longchamp Epure crossbody in tan.
• Marni large grey tote
• Mulberry mini Lily in pink
• Mulberry Blossom pouchettes in red and burgundy, brilliant as they have crossbody straps and wrist straps, v versatile
• Mulberry large greige tote, not sure of the name, bought from Bicester.
• Anya Hindmarch ebury handbag in black - amazing quality.
• Longcgamp medium Le Pliage black
• Liberty iphis totes - large and medium
• Whistles Grey crossbody
• Ally Capellino khaki waxed cotton tote
• Whistles navy leather tote
• 2 x linen shoppers for summer
• Jaeger tan saddle bag
• Sandqvist black backpack

It’s absolutely shocking when I see the whole list, definitely need to cull a few…😬

By my own admission, far too many (at least 60 and probably more) especially now I’ve retired and don’t need work bags as such. I’ve got various brands; Longchamp, Coach, LV, Gucci, Mulberry, Marc Jacobs, Aspinal and Kate Spade. Some I reach for frequently and others not so much, but I do try to rotate. I’ve also got some lovely evening bags, Jimmy Choo, vintage Whiting & Davis etc. We cruise so I love them to dress up a simple evening outfit.

I probably should have a cull really.

In the last 11 years I have got into handbags, I always liked a nice one and now I have:
Mulberry small Bayswater, not been used for about 5 years but my first so won’t be sold
Mulberry Bayswater in black NVT, too big for my needs now and I should sell it
Mulberry Darley in the gorgeous Mulberry pink
Mulberry Lily in taupe, used once and I should move on but could come in handy one day
LV Neverfull in Damier Azur, my first LV and great summer and travel bag
LV Neonoe in monogram, love this bag design
LV Neonoe in black Empreinte leather, love the bag so much I got this one for my birthday
Chanel Boy bag, my very early (6years) retirement gift to myself
Chanel WOC in light pink, I was going to get another colour and the pink was love at first sight
Chanel WOC in black, small and perfect for hands free

I have been stalking LV for the last month or so and have managed to order another Neonoe this afternoon, along with a matching bandeau 😁

My best friend was complaining that people were jealous of her designer handbags and I had to confess I didn't know that's what they were! I have about five bags I rotate for various occasions/ seasons just to carry essentials around but have no interest and can't see the appeal

I loved handbags so have many. I stopped buying regularly a few years ago, I now save my pennies for other pursuits. I have mulberry, anya hindmarch, miu miu and chanel - probably around 30 bags in total. At the moment I mainly carry my boyy wonton 20. Nothing on the wish list.

First ever bag was an oversized mulberry Alexa in oak and the feathered angel Jackson. Still own every bag I’ve bought as I have no idea how to go about selling bags as I don’t trust posting them - had friends say the buyer claims to not receive.

I bought a Kate Spade saddle bag in black quite a long time ago in their sale at half price, and years later I still use most days I'm not at work (I take a rucksack to my daily job). It's still in good nick.

I had a brown Radley bag (plain, no pictures) but the cat damaged it too much for repair. The leatherette is ruined, can't be saved.

Most recently bought a Lucy & Yak pocket bag in black because I'm trying to reduce the amount of crap I take with me, plus it's going to be useful on holiday.

I would like a Coach bag (American brands are very good right now) or a Lulu Guinness but sadly funds are, ahem, a bit tight right now. Keeping an eye on the sales.

I just bought a Lucy & Yak crossbody bag (mines in leopard print though!).
I have zero interest in a designer bag, it would be totally wasted on me, but show me a crossbody in a colour or pattern I dont have and Im all over it! 😆
