How many & what handbags do you have?

I’ve always been a massive handbag lover and used to have a big collection, but in recent years sold them in favour of having only a few with very specific purposes so I know I’ll get use out of them. I hated seeing them sat there unused but still lust over the thought of having lots of gorgeous ones for all different occasions! Let me live vicariously through you by telling me what ones you have and what you use them for - I’ll go first:

Black Longchamp Le Pliage in Large - gift from my partner for my last birthday. Since becoming a mum back in April this has been my daily runaround as I can fit pretty much everything in it. The corners are starting to look tatty already which pisses me off considering it’s still quite an expensive bag!

Mint Velvet Chain Crossbody - i bought this about 4 years ago as it’s a dupe for the Saint Laurent nikki. It’s incredibly tatty and beaten up but has so many compartments and so easy to chuck on. I use this when I don’t need to carry much or want the ease.

Lulu Guinness x Waitrose Shopper - couldn't resist this at the price point and mostly just use it as an overnight bag if I’m going away.

Louis Vuitton Alma BB - a very very generous gift from my partner for my 21st birthday (many moons ago…). I will always love and cherish this bag and plan to pass it on to my daughter when she is old enough to appreciate it.

That’s it. I would like to grow this collection by adding a small crossbody that only fits the absolute essentials, and maybe a nicer overnight/travel bag.

Ok so bearing this in mind, how are we selling our bags..Vinted ? FacebookMarketplace (I sold a longchamp on there, the lady bought it for her daughter and came to pick it up at my house. She was lovely and thrilled .) Vestiare? EBay?
Asking for a friend..😂😂

I’d stay clear of FB Marketplace… defo Vinted for lower end & Vestiaire for higher end! I’ve also sold through Armcandy, Luxe Cheshire and designer exchange. Avoid handbag clinic as they are shit.

To be fair, I did have to wade through a few scams before the lady I sold to came through..the old ‘ can I send a courier to collect it’ script.

Funniest response ever..not because you’ve got 1 handbag but because you see and feel the joy 😂😂 I too have 1 handbag..it’s the 20 on the reserves bench that are the problem 😂😂

I have always been fascinated with women and their love for bags, shoes, clothes. Absolutely not judging, I just feel that I must lack something in my DNA because I find it all so tedious. It's not an age thing either, I have never been interested. I would like to understand it though, maybe that's why I visited this thread.

Chanel 2.55
LV Neverfull GM
Lonchamp Le Pliage (Small & Large)
YSL Camera Bag
YSL East West Tote
YSL Small Loulou
Sézane Mara
Toteme Small T-Lock
A couple of Dragon Diffusion bags

I’ve really got all my bases covered and don’t need anymore but I can’t help looking!

StMarie4me · 28/05/2025 21:02

I car boot purchase- navy leather cross body that was 50p. Love it.
1 that my late best friend bought me. Use that fit social occasions.

I have no handbags. If I need to carry stuff about I use a small cheap back pack. I do not understand the obsession with handbags.

TBH neither do I. I view handbags as something purely practical to carry stuff in if I can't use pockets.

I have a three going out handbags, a grey Radley bag, a teal bag from White Stuff and the one I currently use which is the Uniqlo bag that went viral a couple of years ago.

BlooBear · 28/05/2025 21:20

Far too many!
I need to go through them and sell some (which will then mean I’ll buy another one 🤣)

Off the top of my head :
3 Mulberrys
2 Chanels
1 Loewe
1 Zadig & Voltaire
1 custom made bag
Numerous other designers - probably between 10-20 - ranging from small cross body bags to large totes.

DelphiniumBlue · 28/05/2025 21:33

No big name brands but..
4 from Desigual in different sizes/colours/patterns including one that is a small backpack with purple flowers and is my favourite .
I have backpacks in a variety of sizes and colours because I have back problems and can’t wear shoulder bags at all any more. Probably about 10, including my work one which is a maroon and black nylon camouflage one from Day Birger Mikkelsen .
So I also have crossbody bags ( about 5 ) in different colours , current fave is a nylon crescent shape one in black which is very roomy for its size, from Primark.
I have a gorgeous pink leather bag with purple straps made for me in Spain, but that rarely gets worn due to aforesaid back issues,

PaquitaSalas · 28/05/2025 21:33

Love bags, but currently have more than enough to cover all bases.
I recently sold two watches I never wear and bought a Mulberry Amberley satchel in Midnight and a sage green smallish bag from John Lewis which was a great bargain for the quality and arguably nicer than the Mulberry.
I have two Strathberry Mosaic Nano: black with gold hardware and stone blue with silver hardware. I also have a couple of other v small Strathberries (an oat and a burgundy one) bought from sample sales.
Others include a couple of Me and Em crossbodies, an Isabel Marant Yenky tote in black, some puffy bags (Damsen Madder, M and S ) and a M and S Autograph basket bag.
Always fascinated by the bags people choose and what they have in them!

Yes. I'm afraid my post probably sounded a bit judgy, but I am genuinely not judging other women's love for handbags.

I must be missing the love for handbags gene as well as the love for shoes and designer clothes gene.

What are you passionate about, there must be something?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/05/2025 22:59

Nothing fancy here, and all very similar, but I rotate between:

Cos quilted crossbody bag which I have two of - one red and one black
Arket black leather sling crossbody
Pieces leopard print crossbody
Free People bright green leather sling crossbody - quite small and perfect for gigs
Cos nylon sling crossbody which again, I have two of - navy and chocolate brown
Anthropology woven leather crossbody in burgundy

I’m a hands free girl! I also have loads of tote bags which I use to humph around extra stuff, like my work laptop. Currently favouring green Christopher Kane “more joy” one and a cream and bright pink one I picked up at a Pulp gig a few years ago.

PinkTonic · 28/05/2025 23:18

I have an LV cross body and an Alma BB in cream leather, a mulberry Bayswater tote in burgundy and a small black amberley, a Balenciaga small hourglass in a sort of gunmetal colour, a large le pliage and a Cambridge satchel company music case which I use as a laptop bag. Also a navy camera bag which I think came from Reiss and a basket one from Sezane. The only ones I bought myself were the Bayswater as a treat for landing a new job and the Reiss and Sezane ones. I’d like a Strathberry in a light colour.

Franchisingentrepreneur · 28/05/2025 23:28

10, mostly Radley.

mdinbc · 29/05/2025 01:18

7 total

2 smaller crossbody, 1 nylon, the other leather
1 satchel style leather from Kate Spade. Now that I'm not working I hardly use it.
1 woven straw/rafia with leather trim. Banana Republic from about 5 years ago.
1 leather packpack handmade in Mexico
2 evening bags, neither expensive, from shoe stores.

I am on the lookout for a new straw and leather bag, but my goodness, they have gotten expensive! I don't spend a lot on a bag, the most I've ever spent is around 100 GBP.

cherrymaoam · 29/05/2025 06:53

I have two APC half moon bags in black and tan, a Mulberry Lily in linen green and an old Topshop cross body bag that I use for festivals. A raffia shoulder bag for holidays. A large Longchamp pliage in black for overnight stays. A black rucksack from M&S for work. A second hand Mulberry tote bag in tan that is about 20 years old now but still looks pretty good. A navy sheepskin rucksack from Jigsaw that’s handy for being out and about with the kids. A couple of smaller pliage bags in specific colours to go with specific outfits. Think that’s it.

RunningJo · 29/05/2025 07:50

Currently I have

Mulberry Bayswater
LV Never full
Mulberry Alexa
Mulberry Bayswater East West
Mulberry Lily

2 of these were bought pre loved, and 2 were given to me. I haven’t bought a new bag in a long time.

I’ve also had and sold a Mulberry Anthony, Mulberry Winsley and a Coach Edie.

I enjoy clothes shopping in real life shops. I'm just not bothered about clothes being designer clothes.

I wouldn't say I was passionate about it - just something I enjoy.

I love cross body bags ,is the Anthony heavy ,looks like it could be by the time stuff is in it?

I had the small one, which was a mistake. Not heavy at all, really great quality leather and I loved it, but just too small. Which is why I ended up selling it. Still love the style though.

Definitelynotme2022 · 29/05/2025 16:43

I love handbags....I can't remember all of them, but a few of my favourites:

Radley Dukes place medium cross body - I use this one for every day, it's great
Longchamps pliage - brown and burgundy
Longchamps pliage travel bag - brown
Mulberry Iris in black
Mulberry Alexa in black and blossom pink
Mulberry mini Islington in blossom pink
Radley suede navy crossbody bag - no idea of the style as it was my dm's, but it's much used and loved. Especially as she's passed away.
Several of my dm's bags.... Radley, Tula, The White Company mainly

I'd really love a LV never full, but I can't justify the price at the moment. So I did buy a fake in Turkey. Obviously it's not LV quality, but it is a really good leather tote bag that I use pretty much everyday as a work bag.

JaceLancs · 29/05/2025 16:53

Black jimmy choo with chain strap - rarely use as it’s too heavy
Black vintage Vivienne Westwood - lovely bag but not structured enough
Black jaeger quilted bag - not deep enough
Black lulu guiness smaller cross body - too small
Black All saints studded bag - too heavy and zip doesn’t open wide enough
Black coach bag - don’t love it but it will do till I find a better one
I have spent the last 40 years searching for the perfect black bag - it doesn’t exist! I’ve only kept the ones above because they were reasonably expensive and I should get round to selling them
Current one I’m using is a taupe Paul Costelloe one
I also have a navy suede jaeger bag and a tan leather jaeger tote bag
For holidays I have a choice of beige, black or gold lightweight Kiplings
Had a clear out recently and took loads to charity shop - need to do shoes next

henlake7 · 29/05/2025 17:33

No posh handbags, I just couldnt justify the cost when I change my bags so often.
But I have about 25 'bog standard' bags!
My favourite are the Uniqlo crossbody sling bags. I have 8 of those in various colours and materials, they are just the perfect size for me.
