How many & what handbags do you have?

I’ve always been a massive handbag lover and used to have a big collection, but in recent years sold them in favour of having only a few with very specific purposes so I know I’ll get use out of them. I hated seeing them sat there unused but still lust over the thought of having lots of gorgeous ones for all different occasions! Let me live vicariously through you by telling me what ones you have and what you use them for - I’ll go first:

Black Longchamp Le Pliage in Large - gift from my partner for my last birthday. Since becoming a mum back in April this has been my daily runaround as I can fit pretty much everything in it. The corners are starting to look tatty already which pisses me off considering it’s still quite an expensive bag!

Mint Velvet Chain Crossbody - i bought this about 4 years ago as it’s a dupe for the Saint Laurent nikki. It’s incredibly tatty and beaten up but has so many compartments and so easy to chuck on. I use this when I don’t need to carry much or want the ease.

Lulu Guinness x Waitrose Shopper - couldn't resist this at the price point and mostly just use it as an overnight bag if I’m going away.

Louis Vuitton Alma BB - a very very generous gift from my partner for my 21st birthday (many moons ago…). I will always love and cherish this bag and plan to pass it on to my daughter when she is old enough to appreciate it.

That’s it. I would like to grow this collection by adding a small crossbody that only fits the absolute essentials, and maybe a nicer overnight/travel bag.

I love bags, not so bothered about shoes but I just love bags..they always fit you!

have other various Orla Kiely bags that I collected and occasionally use, a couple of lovely leather Fat Face bags and a couple of holiday or beach bags.

i would love a LV neverfull or a classic quilted Chanel flap bag. ❤️

I'm amazed that posters have so many bags. I have just one of the Uniqlo bags (in black). It goes with everything I wear, so I don't see the point in getting the same in lots of colours.

I have other bags as well, but don't have the same of each type in several colours.

You can tell I don't go out much

I bloody loved my Uniqlo bag, I'm late to the party but it's so comfy and light! It was £9 in the sale 🤣

2x Gucci ( small shoulder back , classic print black and black disco)
2x Jimmy Choo ( one large black leather one chain padded cross over black)
5x mulberry ( oak Roxanne, black north south tote , black Anthony , raspberry shoulder bag and a black Alexa )
3x marc Jacobs ( one black cross body , one small black hand held and a beige tote )
ive got a couple of coach bags and loads of Kate Spade in various colours. A couple of Longchamp for travel and a few Ospreys.

This is dreamy.

I couldn't understand the love for it, but now I have one I found it so useful on a recent holiday. It is so easy to find stuff in it because it isn't deep.

Ok some of these are making me feel better about my collection!

7 bags I use relatively regularly, plus three rucksacks for other situations. (2 get used regularly- one I keep on the off chance I do a big hike up a mountain.)

I currently have 7 mulberry’s, 2 YSL, 3 LV, 2 Gucci, and 1 Chloe. Far too many and I’d love to sell if I could be certain I would not get scammed (or lose too much money).

How do you carry your purse/ phone/ keys?

Oh also a pliage. I gave a couple of Marc Jacobs bags to the charity shop recently.

I have 4 Uniqlo cross body bags. Got rid of all my leather bags as I never used them.

I love handbags by Skechers, S Oliver and Fila. I have about 20, small ones for everyday and larger ones for traveling. You go into a Skechers shop and they have loads of shoes of course but never their own handbags, just a few canvas sports bags, mystery to me. So I get my handbags from Deichmann or eBay.

Had a Longchamps pliage, don't rate them, got tatty at corners quite quickly. And I could never find anything in it. Have a LV neverfull, also don't rate. Too big, the skinny straps dig in, pickpockets dream on public transport, flops open so everyone can see contents. Have a classic Chanel, very nice but rarely used. I do like my uniqlo cross body, so so practical and light. I'm in search of a backpack for work that looks elegant, can hold laptop, shoes, lunch, book, phone, purse. It doesn't appear to exist. Suggestions welcome!

All these people who have loads of handbags don't you get fed up moving your stuff from one to another?

Pockets (it is definitely trickier in summer) so sometimes just chuck them in a shopping bag/ tote. Or I use DD's bag (16yo) if we go to a wedding or something, which makes her feel more mature than me.

Do you also go to the litter tray just to let everyone know you don't have a cat, or pop in to the doghouse to inform everyone you don't have a dog?

I love fashion and accessories, especially bags. While I used to have a larger collection, I’m now embracing a more minimalist lifestyle and keep a small, curated selection. I’m not into trends—I prefer more classic pieces, and I especially love crossbody bags.

@Pinkpupsx , I bought that Lulu Guinness Waitrose tote and it’s my swimming bag. I love it! The little attached wallet has my pool pass and locker token in it.

I have three handbags that I inherited from my Mum. She loved her handbags. Her quilted Chanel bag was left to my fashionable cousin, and her best friend got first pick after that. I just took what was otherwise going to charity shops because I’m rarely out somewhere that needs a handbag but it is nice to have a few choices.

The Kate Spade black patent one is the one I use if I’m out somewhere tidy. There’s also an orange Radley I used for a wedding as it picked out an colour in my dress, and another one in green that I can’t remember the name of - my daughter claimed it when she was home last.

Day to day I use a cross body bag that was handmade for me. It carries more than my pockets and doesn’t get in the way of my crutch when walking. Crutches make handbags quite difficult because you don’t have free hands.

Every bag, rucksack or tote I own has a mini pack of tissues, a small brush, hand sanitizer and Tide pen in it.

It’s just wallet and keys I need to move from one to the other.
