These sandals - yay or nay?

I want sandals with a toe box to hide my fugal nails, comfy to walk and sand in all day. Will wear as a teacher who teaches forest school and outdoor activities as well as in the classroom. With and without socks, must be machine washable.

I like the look of these Keen sandals. Do you agree or can I find better?

Seems most think they ugly...however think I will just go for them. Comfy, outdoorsy, hide toes from teenagers.
Some asked why wash them? If I don't wear socks then my shoes start to smell and don't want to spread fungus to other toes!!

Don’t know why you’re asking if you aren’t taking anyone’s thoughts on board 🤷‍♀️

cheesycheesy · 29/05/2025 03:40

Vile. Smelly ugly things.

Bowies · 29/05/2025 04:00

I think they suit the purposes you want them for and not be out of place for forest school etc

Teachers' dress codes usually preclude the wearing of trainers. In her case I'd get a dispensation from the HT and take your advice!

Ah ok. I work in schools as an external provider and live in trainers so wasn’t aware of this.

Surely they would be allowed for forest school and outdoor activities.

Everygrain · 29/05/2025 07:32

Wearing some of the suggestions on here for working at a forest school are like wearing fashion boots for a hike in the hills. Do people always think fashion first when going out into the woods and hills.

borntobequiet · 29/05/2025 08:21

They are perfect for the context you describe. Your mistake was asking on S&B where people will take issue with them for aesthetic reasons.

YourSignalFadedIntoAnotherWorld · 29/05/2025 11:49

I like them. There is nothing to touch Keen for quality.

Worst shoes I've ever seen

You clearly haven't clicked on the links to the fisherman sandals then.

Maybethisallthereis · 29/05/2025 20:38

Why not just wear trainers? They are so ugly and would like hideous with socks!

To be honest I've never seen so many ugly shoes in one place.

Love2dance · 29/05/2025 22:52

I love my fashion but IMHO you cannot beat Keen sandals. They're really comfortable, have good arch support and as they're waterproof can be used as beach shoes or in light rain. Heck, I might have to get that pair as I cannot find mine. That's a really good price for Keen.

Sorry but no.. please no. Birkenstock bostons?

Codlingmoths · 30/05/2025 00:26

The good news for the op is she probably doesn’t have to worry about meeting most of the ‘oh they’re hideous’ posters out on the trail walking, they won’t have the shoes for that kind of activity 😁

Motheroffive999 · 30/05/2025 01:45

Good for forest school , and stopping the kids looking at toe nails , but not good on a date / romantic encounters.

WhateverWheneverWherever · 30/05/2025 04:47

Keen make good quality walking sandals, they arent meant to be fashion items. Some of the suggestions here are laughable, fisherman's sandals aren't substantial or supportive and have no arch support. Very much fashion wear.
The Adidas Terrex are too much the other way, they look like a pared down orthopedic boot. Although their walking trainers are very good.

Not what you asked but I've had success getting rid of fungal nail infections with this. I used it everyday though.

Sorry but they are vile

MrsBlobby64 · 30/05/2025 22:40

Sort out your fungal nails OP fgs...

BasicBrumble · 31/05/2025 09:14

I wasn't keen on first glance, but once you get to the pic of them on, I think they're all right. Comfort is essential for feet, and they'll be good for what you need them for.

I used that too, after trying another OTTC one first. This was good. But it was so slow and big toenails grow so slowly.

If you work in a Secondary school, those pupils will have plenty to say behind your back. Last week a pupil said to me ‘ OMG have you seen Mrs ……. concrete grippers?’ Another pupil said ‘ she is wearing sandals, who wears sandals?’ Teenagers are brutal.
Stick to trainers if I was you.

It’s really rather pathetic for grown adults to care what silly teenagers think of their clothing.

Especially when said teenagers walk around in Crocs and socks, socks and slides, trainers that girls like because they remind them of pandas and all their friends have them and sport a haircut like a vegetable.

cheesycheesy · 01/06/2025 10:18

I wouldn’t care what a bunch of teenagers thought I said but I wouldn’t put my feet in those rotters

MissMoneyFairy · 01/06/2025 11:22

I think they're fine like the red or blue ones but not with socks,if you wear them for outdoor activities then won't the dirt, insects, poo and twigs get in.

Fannyy · 01/06/2025 11:23

Jesus no. They look like someone's got a dried out teabag and fashioned it into a shoe.
