These sandals - yay or nay?

Keen Rose https://amzn.eu/d/dSI6aKb

I want sandals with a toe box to hide my fugal nails, comfy to walk and sand in all day. Will wear as a teacher who teaches forest school and outdoor activities as well as in the classroom. With and without socks, must be machine washable.

I like the look of these Keen sandals. Do you agree or can I find better?

I'd rather throw my money at treating the foot fungus than buy those.

My eyes! My eyes!

Twelvetimes · 26/05/2025 22:16

I like them, I had a pair myself a few years ago. They are very practical for what you want.

RosesAndHellebores · 26/05/2025 22:25

Why don't you make an appointment to see a podiatrist and get your fungal toenails sorted out @Unusualllly.

Sorry, they're ugly! Why not try some fishermen's sandals - covers toes and very in this year, apparently.

I like them: they seem to have good arch support.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 26/05/2025 22:35

Arghhhhh
i can’t un-see them
the fisherman ones are much better

RaraRachael · 26/05/2025 22:36

Sorry the style is monstrous and the colour is awful.

mnahmnah · 26/05/2025 22:38

Much better in the black

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/05/2025 22:42

They're fugly. I like them! Comfortable looking too. I'd buy them 😎

So would I!

YourChirpyFatball · 26/05/2025 22:45

I like them. Don't like the fisherman ones. I'm not bothered about them being the it sandals to have this year. A reason to not have them.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 26/05/2025 22:47

Nay nay and thrice nay. Sorry.

Doggymummar · 26/05/2025 22:49

So hideous. I've had toe nail fungus for years including having the nails off. It just comes back. I get extensions on mine in the summer to cover them up. One set last's the Summer.

This.

I rarely dislike sandals, but the fisherman style is weird.

RedBeech · 26/05/2025 22:58

I don't like them. There are loads of closed toe active wear sandals that are far nicer.
S&B often hates Skechers but they have some great closed toe trainer sandals. Earth Spirit also have some good ones. Both at around £60. And if you don't mind a bright colour, there are some good Mahabi Dreamers ones in the sale (the neutral colours are £129.)

NatFatPrat · 26/05/2025 23:09

Hell, no. They are FUGLY! Get your fungal toenails sorted and treat yourself to some nice new sandals.

Don't be the teacher with fugly footwear!

AngelaBB · 26/05/2025 23:11

I like them.

If you work in a Secondary school, those pupils will have plenty to say behind your back. Last week a pupil said to me ‘ OMG have you seen Mrs ……. concrete grippers?’ Another pupil said ‘ she is wearing sandals, who wears sandals?’ Teenagers are brutal.
Stick to trainers if I was you.

Do actual grownups care one iota what a bunch of teenagers think about their shoes though?

The shoes aren’t pretty but they look extremely practical.
The least attractive things anyone can have on the ends of their feet is uncomfortable shoes you can’t move freely in.

BunfightBetty · 26/05/2025 23:25

If you like then, that’s what matters most. But they’re not the nicest looking sandal on the market.

If it were me, I’d paint your toenails through the summer, remove the polish come Autumn, and work on sorting the fungal nails until next Summer, when hopefully the problem will be gone. I know people are advocating getting the nails sorted now, but toenails grow super slowly and they won’t grow out fast enough to sort for this year.

If you paint over them you’ll be able to wear whatever you like. While it won’t help cure the problem it also won’t make it significantly worse in that sort of timeframe.

mathanxiety · 26/05/2025 23:27

They're perfect for your purposes and not too bad looking.

Keens are very good quality.
