...now help me with shoes.

here's the dress it is FANTASTIC.

it's pretty late forties early fifties imo, i'm thinking that a small platform peeptoe sandal (not unlike my styleesh grandma used to wear) would be good.

if anyone else is ordering from uttam (although god knows what, i couldn't find a single other thing that didn't make me actively barf) there's a discount code for 10% off your first order. postage is free too, and it's next day delivery. i'm really impressed with the quality, it's LOVELY. skirt is lovely and full and the large patch pockets give it that strange post-war feel, iykwim? it's mad, i love it. AND IT IVES ME A WAIST!

I like it. How weird, I got their brochure thingy through yesterday. Did you get the black or red? What size foot are you? I have gorgeous red wedges with peep-toe from Office that fall off me, but they are size 7 boats and I imagine you are teeny weeny size 4?

onebatmother · 20/05/2008 10:34

am NOT nosy git, am v kind person with spec. interest in thank you threads.

PrincessPeaHead · 20/05/2008 10:39

hi aitch
you need those fantastic patent raffia wedge slingbacks with a small peep toe that Russell & Bromley are doing in lots of colours

They are soooo cool hionandbeauty/fashion/summershoes/ here

PrincessPeaHead · 20/05/2008 10:39

whoops I mean here

Tallis · 20/05/2008 10:45

Are we looking for red or black?

are these any good? With ''Insolia®'' whatever on earth that may be. Not platforms, though. Are you worried about sinking into a lawn?

TigerFeet · 20/05/2008 10:45

JackieNo is indeed a very clever lady - she suggested a watch with a zip strap for dsis for Christmas which I took a punt on and bought and dsis loves it

We heart JackieNo and her internet shopping cleverness

Tallis · 20/05/2008 10:45

Meant to say, agree dress is GORGEOUS

DarrellRivers · 20/05/2008 10:47

or these!
I have these , i love them

RosaLuxembourg · 20/05/2008 10:47

What is the discount code for Uttam does anybody know? I quite fancy a couple of things from the clearance sale.

onebatmother · 20/05/2008 10:53

It's HB78B4 for 10% off first order, Rosa my dear.

RosaLuxembourg · 20/05/2008 10:56

Thanking you most kindly OBM. Before I take the plunge what do we think of this

I have no summer clothes and little money and need to replenish my summer wardrobe as cheaply as possible.

AitchTwoCiao · 20/05/2008 11:00

haven't yet looked at links as have been off inveigling dd into a spot of potty training. ice lollies at 11am, indeed.
i've gone for the blue one, as it happens, although its really greeny-blue. as are my 50-style (starck-mikli collab so also moderne) specs. it is BRILLIANT. i'm seriously considering buying another one if it pops up in the sale. postage is free as well, btw, did i mention that?

AitchTwoCiao · 20/05/2008 11:01

v. nice, rosa. get it.

OP posts:
RosaLuxembourg · 20/05/2008 11:01

How do you find the sizing comes up, Aitch?

MrsBadger · 20/05/2008 11:03

it is quite nice but with the skirt that full I need the waist to be on my waist, iyswim

I have a gorgeous fixed-wrap top from Uttam that (with a vest under) got me through many a do while bfing but also a wrap dress with a handkerchief hem that DH says makes me look like Lulu so is Not Much Worn

onebatmother · 20/05/2008 11:04

v nice rosa, and v cheap. I'd def go for it. Not sure the promo code will work with sale stuff, though worth a try.

RosaLuxembourg · 20/05/2008 11:06

It worked OBM! Thanks.

AitchTwoCiao · 20/05/2008 11:08

the wedding reception is being held on a lawn etc and i will be wrangling a toddler so i deffo think wedges rather than heels are the way to go. i'm a leetle against cork, though, it's a prejudice of mine. i'm prejudiced against much of the 70s.

am i limited to getting either the 'right colour' or white? i have an amazing orange coral necklace that will look nice with it (substantial size but beads are plain and high to the neck, am i mad in considering orange accessories. i think i'll have more success with them in the shops than going for a matchy-matchy.

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 20/05/2008 11:11

no not mad, i have matched my blue silk shirt dress to an orange necklace and those orange R+B wedges.
Looks this season, but not ridiculous iyswim

AitchTwoCiao · 20/05/2008 11:12

the waist is perfect, mrs b, if you're referring to mine. at least insofar as i am a bit of an apple but with tits up and the wrap below my ribs i look proper curvy. for a girl with no arse or hips that is a rare treat.

i was worried aobut he sizing because although the measurements are right for me in the large it did say it was a 12-14 which i am not, i'm a 14-16. i was a bit concerned that it would pinch under the arms, therefore, although i knew the wrap would be forgiving. seems fine, though, but i'll pop some dress protectors into it i think. don't want marks on the dress if it starts to feel neat.

RosaLuxembourg · 20/05/2008 11:13

Definitely go for bright shoes. I love those patent wedges Darrell linked to.

DarrellRivers · 20/05/2008 11:13

just make sure your wedding is not the same as mine though aitch

AitchTwoCiao · 20/05/2008 11:14

lol, i'm being a shoe snob, though. can't imagine wearing shoes that cheap and them being comfy. tell me i'm wrong, because i do really like them. the r&b ones are great too, but not wedges and i worry about sinking.
