All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Batters, I completely understand re India and Neris, I think I can do it long term but what you've been doing is working fantastically for you and so I think you're doing the right thing, sticking to what works tbh. But some good head stuff in there anyway isn't there?

Moonshine, I'm glad you had a lovely time, I don't miss mine remotely when dh and I go away so you're not alone!

Marina, fab on the coat, well done.

Well, the WHOLE HOUSE IS DE CLUTTERED! And clean! EVERY corner. It was VILE behind plenty of places, this is the first serious go at it since we moved here 2.5 years ago. It has been cleaned twice a week but not thoroughly, just the cleaner keeping it under control. So we are feeling very spring cleaned and happy although my back aches like mad from all the picking up.Dh bought a pack of 20 heavy duty bin liners plus we had some in the house already and they've ALL been used. I even did under childrens beds, in their toy boxes, kitchen drawers, cupboard under the sink, tops of cupboards, front of cupboards, the lot. All paperwork filed, no piles of crap ANYWHERE We bought a new Dyson yesterday too and I'm impressed. So, poor children have been neglected and we will spend the next five days doing nice things,

So, we took exmil and sil out for Indian last night and I had Chingri Sagwala so spincach with prawns and no naan, poppadums, was pleased with myself. Did pour wine down my throat though, oops and then woke this morning thinking oh bugger, that's pure sugar. Never mind, early night tonight and de no wine. We also bought a small flat screen tv for the end of our bed so combined with our John Lewis sale Egyptian cotton duvet it feels like a hotel room. Lovely!

Today

bacon and 2 fried quails eggs (ran out of normal ones but these were lovely, although v small!)
assorted cheese, avocado and smoked salmon and cream cheese for lunch
No idea what we're having tonight, since I only ate lunch at 3.30 it'll be in quite a while.

Bet I won't have lost any weight next Saturday, not with 3 nights now of alcohol. Oh well, it's half term and I'm doing well on everything else.

www - have you remembered the Apprentice is on tonight?

iamdingdong · 27/05/2008 19:01

evening ladies, congrats to duchess and welcome archie

had a lovely weekend in north wilts with my brother and SIL, can recommend the thermae spa in bath, even with a skinny SIL! We sadly had to go visit my sis too as her horse broke his leg in a freak accident, no obvious cause, she was distraught and her DH was away however I have not been v good bootcamper, so after tonight's takeaway I will get back on track, inspired by www and by buying size 12 trousers in gap (they are v loose fitting linen, so doesn't really count!)

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/05/2008 19:36

Evening

Had my one day with dh this week. We went walking and I ended up in the mire again Slipped on the path and tumbled over part way down an embankment. Soft but smelly landing in a field of cows, you can imagine....Think I'm a bit of a liability at the moment.

Spent the afternoon with dd checking out my summer wardrobe. Tis poor and we're off to Brum tomorrow to shop. Had to have my shopping outfit 'approved' too - cheeky madam.

Well done on your walking batters. And on the coat Marina

Spa sounds fab dingdong but about your sister's horse.

Hope all is going well with Archie Norks.

Cod, oh that's ok then, what's the odd bit of coke between friends?

unknown, I DIDN'T know it was tonight, thank you so much for telling me!

iamdingdong glad you had a lovely weekend but sad about the horse and at size 12, well done!

saggars, good luck with the shopping trip. I detest shopping, always have.

Have just had tarragon chicken and salad
and will now retire to bed with the laptop and wait for The Apprentice.

Am LOLing at www sitting up in bed, full of sublime protein, drumming her slender fingers on the keyboard and waiting for siralan. Am terrified Lucinda will get the boot tonight - is this rational?
Not much walking today, work is back to normal - urgh. Lots of water though, and healthy eating, and gorgeous if pudgy becreamed, silky soft and nail-varnished feet
So sorry about your sister's horse iamdingdong I have a friend who rides and she gave it up for several years after losing two beloved horses in quick succession. And as for those tiny trews You are the third person to speak well of the Thermae - could we have a bootcamp goes large meet-up there I wonder?
Saggars, I think you are not a proper hiker until you have had a bad cow trip. Have been chased through fields and up mountains by all sorts, the worst being fierce red vaches de Salers in the Auvergne. Those beasts can run up steep gradients, and do. Hope the chaperoned shopping trip went OK and you have not committed any Converse-related faux pas.

tortoiseSHELL · 27/05/2008 22:12

Hi all, hope you have all had a good bank holiday weekend. I've had very bad bootcamp day today, but it was necessary due to unfair levels of stress - had a recital which was 60 miles drive away, dh and kids decided to come which was nice, but meant we left an hour late. After 30 mins (i.e. too late to turn back) dd said 'I've got a tummy ache' - was promptly sick. So we stopped, wiped her up (I think must have been travel sickness, as she instantly recovered, and wasn't too dramatic in terms of vomit...). Set off again, mildly anxious about getting there on time....ds1 says 'I'm going to be sick' - is promptly sick...stop the car, wipe him up - again I think it's travel sickness. Fortunately no more sickness, but am now VERY anxious about the time. Dh takes a wrong turning which really does stress me - but fortunately after 10 miles it gets us back to the right road, only to find a MASSIVE traffic jam caused by a crash which is blocking the road in both directions...just as we are planning an alternative route (after 25 mins not moving) the police clear the road. And then we finally make it! So have had scone and jam, pizza etc and other not so great things.

BUT - ds2 is happily asleep - in his BED! I'm so pleased - he took an hour or so, but then climbed in and went to sleep! Another tick on the 'things to do with ds2 list'.

Sorry haven't replied to everyone, I'm going to have a very naughty large G&T and wine, because I think I need it after today, and start afresh tomorrow.

DofNB - hope things are going well with little Archie! Marina - that doesn't sound good with work - hope it improves! x

Prufrock · 27/05/2008 22:35

Well done www - now are you and dh going to keep it that way? I'm giving up fro another week as it's half term.
ureb - hope the ear is better
dingdong - so so sorry about the horse, my sisters horse had an unexplained gash to her leg last year that took 3 months of daily swilling out and redressing to mend and was touch and go for a while. I do think horses can become more than pets -hope she feels better soon.

I am off to London town tomorrow to see a man about getting my norks done. I figure this time with dh at home is the only opportunity I will ever get to have a week "off" and I am sick of having nipples around my belly button, especially as I have actually made significant progress on remoulding other parts of my body. And my neck aches, so I'm going for a reduction and uplift. Shallow I know, but I'm quite comfortable with the concept of being vain and shallow

I am also going to kill dh soon, and this is only day 2 of proper gardening leave. I have another 11 weeks to go!

unknownrebelbang · 27/05/2008 23:02

Am impressed by all the decluttering! DH has half-done the kitchen, and I've half-done the lounge, but that's as far as we've got.

Ear still buzzing, but inflamation reduced and down to two lots of painkillers today; toe is tingling (nail has started to lift and ooze...lovely); throw in pmt/AF and it's been a joyous 10/12 days healthwise, lol.

Have survived the dentist today! DS1 had to have another milk tooth removed, and DS2 one filled but considering we haven't been for quite a while not too bad, and mine were fine too. I'd got myself into quite a state beforehand, (due to a nasty root canal problem I had last time I went, hence the timelapse too) but feel quite happy now we've been. And will definitely not leave it too long again.

Bootcampwise - well it's half-term, and I can't swim at the moment, but I've managed to maintain a modicum of exercise each day. Still virtually no booze...except when attending a family party on Saturday night whilst offside AND sitting with my lovely but cantankerous FIL, the wine was purely medicinal, you understand.

And happy because it's half-term, and I'm off all week (plus DH is around most of the week too), and it looks like DS1 has managed to get himself a paper round.

arfishy · 28/05/2008 00:53

Oh well done Duchess! Many congratulations and welcome to little Archie.

I've come skulking back because I am now FAT. As winter drew in I rummaged in the back of the wardrobe for my jeans and then realised I couldn't get them on. And they were my fat ones.

And my delightful 5 year old looked pointedly at my stomach yesterday and asked if I was going to have another baby. And the worst thing? I was already wearing magic knickers.

AND as DD looked at one of the books I'd given her to take into the school book stall I told her it was all about how to be a yummy mummy. DP snurked and said "Didn't you read it then?" and then exited the room sharply when I snarled at him.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and it's off to weight watchers for me on Friday. I need the humiliation of a public weigh for motivation.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 28/05/2008 10:35

Can I join in here?

Im desperately trying to fight the habits that have set in since I had DC3 in january - Im still eating like Im pregnant AND breastfeeding even though I am now neither.

I have started using wiifit and went on a 5 mile bike ride the other day that has spurred me into action.

Food intake is the bit that needs to be sorted!!

LoveAndSqualor · 28/05/2008 11:20

Greetings, one and all, on this dreary day. I am waiting in for an Ikea delivery [joy unconfined emoticon] then embarking on today's round of cafe-going, meeting various colleagues for work conversation (for which read shameless gossiping). Did anyone else find that maternity leave results in a massively increased consumption of cake and tea? I am incapable of remaining in the house all day and staying sane, so end up meeting people at cafes across London and stuffing my face on a daily basis. I am a bootcamp pariah

But! I have been sticking to my situp regime, which is something. Have done 40 a day for the last four days!

ureb, glad your ear is feeling better and well done at braving the dentist - I hate the dentist - years of braces, extractions and so forth as a child put me off for life.

arfishy, perhaps you could incorporate boxing your DP about the ears into a bootcamp exercise regime

Prufrock, cor about the norks. Is tomorrow just a consultation? Good luck - report back!

bamamama · 28/05/2008 12:24

hello, hello, just whizzing through as, once again I'm not supposed to be here... (rest assured I lurk when not posting )

Well done all on decluttering of houses, norks and uterus (Welcome Archie and well done DoNB) weight losses and exercise.

I've been running a lot but also eating cake (L&S tis true about mat leave = cake eating. Unfortunatley my ds turned 2 on Sunday and I'm still at it)

Arfishy - will collar you at some point re nice places to live in Sydney without going bankrupt.

Right, really have to go or else wine will not get drunk essay will not get written

Prufrock · 28/05/2008 15:47

I can't quite believe it, but on 24th June I am having my boobs reduced from their current 32GG to a 32DD! And my nipples will be lifted by 8 cm! I'm starting to think I'm a bit mad, but I suppose it's one way to lose weight quickly.

yoyo · 28/05/2008 16:57

A big hello to Archie DoNB. DS took 90 mins from waters going and it was just fab. Enjoy all the snuffly snuggles.

Been away for a few days and have broken every rule. Feeling quite tired but have to go out again tonight (really don't want to) so might make myself go to the gym first.

Prufrock - sounds scary. How long to recover?

Batters - I can't I and N either. I love my fruit and veg too much. I have cut back on the pasta, rice, potatoes but can't commit to the lifestyle change.

Washing to sort so must dash.

WideWebWitch · 28/05/2008 20:00

Hello all

Terrible day as ds was v v v badly behaved this morning in 10yo teenage fashion and dh was also an arse. He isn't one often but when he is, he really is.

Anyway

bacon and eggs
spinach salad with leftover pork and assorted cheeses
sunscreen when I went out
not enough water
cooked all afternoon with the children and have made a disgusting chocolate cake (I don't like choc cake so can resist it) and caramel ice cream which I do like but can resist. Supposed to stir it every hour now, yeah right, the hell I will.

Dh is cooking me contrition chicken which I will have with wine as it's been a hell of a day.

OP posts:
Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 28/05/2008 20:34

I survived the shopping trip but I'm penniless. On the upside dd now has the same size feet as me so I can wear her Converse on the sly.

I'm breaking my booze fast tomorrow as I'm off out (to Denry's ureb - have you been?) - it's been 4 weeks so I expect I'll feel awful after 2 glasses

Sorry you've had a bad day www - hope contrition chicken tastes good.

Exciting news Prufrock - could I have the bit they're taking away please? I was at the back of the boob queue (but at the front of the bum one!)

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 28/05/2008 20:39

ureb - have you seen my mug? Clayhead spotted it.

I might have to let them know about the spelling though. Should be with an 'a' - 'e' is just wrong.

tortoiseSHELL · 28/05/2008 20:45

sorry you've had a bad day www - contrition chicken sounds good! Love your description of your dh btw - "dh was also an arse. He isn't one often but when he is, he really is".

Prufrock - wow! When are you having that done? That's very brave, but exciting too I guess! (I still itch to type profuck every time I type your name into MN - it's one of those unbreakable associations!).

L&S - you need a halo! How is your little one getting along? What sort of things is he doing now? Btw, do you remember the Alan Robson theme they played at 11oclock each night on NightOwls? Can you remember how it went? I've been searching for it, and it's called Little Plum, but I can't find an audio file, and it's driving me bananas! Will have to try and remember to listen online at 11 one night.

Welcome Pecka!

My new discovery is pine nuts! I think I am a bit addicted to them - I discovered them in a really nice meal at Bella Italia - penne with spinach, goats cheese, cherry tomatoes and pine nuts - I'm going to have to try and work out how they cook it - haven't quite got my head round cooking spinach! But I got some from Waitrose, and have been putting them on everything! Yum! Hope they are healthy - they 'feel' healthy!

Ds2 managed really well in his bed last night - fell out a few times, but was comfy on the rug when he did!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 28/05/2008 21:13

Oh forgot to say hello to Pecka!

at Profuck TS. When I see the acronym WFTC - I always think 'What the Fcuk Tax Credits' Apt no?

Marina · 28/05/2008 21:26

Evening all - that's a stylish mug saggars, even though they spelled your name wrong. Glad you had a nice shopping trip and you are feeling better, Ureb
Am still LOLing at Bama's decluttered uteruses and downsized norks...after my horrible surgery experiences it's clinically essential stuff for me only I think - good luck with it all, Prufrock
Torty, ds2 is in a bed ALREADY...how did that happen? Hope he doesn't topple out too often, or Do an Enid's dd3...
Am feeling somewhat fraught by departure of tiny ds on his first ever Cub camp, whisked away on a minibus that looked like the Arkansas Chugabug. I miss him so much, we potter about a lot together in the evenings once dd is chained up snuggled in her fairy duvet. He knows all your names you know...
I'd feel happier about it if he himself had been 100% enthusiastic, but he had several upsetting wibbles over the weekend (hardly surprising as it poured and they are camping out). Anyhoo, enough already, I could also be married to www's dh ...except...oh no, I have a whingepot wussy man of my own
Respect to L&S for the fitness regime (exercise for me was falling out of bed at this point with ds) and sympathies on the childhood dentist traumas all round here - I too had braces and cosmetic extractions - horrid.
Welcome Pecka and welcome back arfishy! I think you should set Evil Victoria on your dp, that'll learn him.
So, today - not enough walking, lots of emoticalories burnt, good eating, lots of water.
Hoping for a more serene tomorrow for everyone

unknownrebelbang · 29/05/2008 00:05

Hello Pecka and Arfishy, and everyone.

Fab mug saggars - do contact them though - daft thing is they spell it correctly in Stokie ware blurb.
Not been to Denry's - wrong side of the city for us, iykwim. Hope you enjoy.

Sympathies about DS www, but love the thought of contrition chicken.

Do you think DH is trying to tell me something - he has been drinking Black Witch beer tonight....

Whereas I have been eating Hotel Chocolat rum-soaked chocolate covered sultanas...(about the only thing I bought on my shopping trip to Telford today, only went because we were chauffeuring the boys, and we just weren't in the mood for shopping).

Actually, think I terrified DH at one point - I was looking for the India/Nerys book (to read, not sure I could cope with the diet for various reasons, but anyway) couldn't find it, but the diet section in both shops I loooked in is right next to the pregnancy books....

rofl at Bama's uncluttered uterus comment.

Aw Marina, am sure DS will have a fab time at camp, tis all old hat with my three these days, and I enjoy the fact that it's soooooo peaceful with any one (or two) from three absent, lol.

Funnily enough, I wasn't put off by my childhood dental traumas, but the trauma of the root canal really was excruciating.

How scary/exciting Prufrock!

suzywong · 29/05/2008 01:00

hello

and hello Baby DoN, hope you are all snuggly and warm

WWW, I am on day 3 of IPD and I have lost many centimetres! I am expecting a bad headache today though. I am on the IPD forum and it's very encouraging. I found out you can use a splash of wine in cream sauces, thank the lord.

Are you still in phase one?
