All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Ooo ooo Good Luck Norks. Enjoy it!

tortoiseSHELL · 25/05/2008 18:49

Bank HOlidays are the best days for babies - ds2 was May 1st, when it fell on the Bank Holiday Monday!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/05/2008 19:14

and still no contractions. I'd practically had DD2 by this time.

And this is the 3rd pregnancy of 4 where my waters have broken during/just after dinner. Weird eh?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/05/2008 19:18

May as well bootcamp while I'm waiting. That's dedication for you. (Or time-killing, one or t'other).

Food. 2 x bowls crunchy nut cornflakes; oat & raisin biscuit; cheese, crackers, apple & grapes for lunch; raw carrot; crab salad for dinner; large handful of popcorn. Lots of water. 2 coffees. Haven't had my raspberry leaf tea yet...!

Plenty of mooching about in the garden. Off for a brisk walk now to see if it gets things moving.

More later...

Prufrock · 25/05/2008 19:33

Oh good luck duch. Will be waiting for developments almost as eagerly as you are.

yoyo · 25/05/2008 19:52

Good luck DoNB! Looking forward to the announcement.

LoveAndSqualor · 25/05/2008 19:59

Ooh, I find I am rather pinned to this thread now ... so must put time to good use and tot up my day.

Firstly, and most crucially - I managed to do situps - 40 of them! I am proud (but not swelling with pride, I hope). Food today has been medium - toast for breakfast, then a spinach and pastry and goats' cheese thing at a cafe (figured the spinach balanced out the pastry) then, ahem, a sausage sandwich for lunch. With carrot salad though. So swings and roundabouts for me. DP is cooking dinner now, but I've just realised I have no idea what it is. Went on a couple of substantial walks, too, so feeling generally quite healthful and pleased with self today . Crapola weather though, non?

OK, will be back later to see how you're getting on, Duch. Good luck again!

Marina · 25/05/2008 20:15

Oh this is very exciting
We watched Seabiscuit this afternoon and LOL, I thought of you when they were mixing the steed's giant feeds Duch...little did I know! I will be evicted from here shortly but will be thinking of you this evening!
And I see the Wongstrel has signed up to Norty and Indulgent, hope it works for you as brilliantly as it has for www, Suzy.
WWW, I am soooo glad to hear that another person has managed to fill five black bags of crud from one boy's bedroom. I was almost overcome with shame at the amount of tat I evicted from ds' room earlier this spring. It's very calorie-busting, waving your arms, throwing ancient Action Men down the stairwell and cursing, you know...
I've had a good day food and water-wise - grapefruit and blueberries for breakfast, corn on the cob, cherry toms, a bit of cooked chicken and a low-tastefat yogurt for lunch, small Magnum snacky size thing for my Sanctioned Indulgence, a banana, and then roast chicken, new pots, runner beans and carrots for dinner with strawberries for pud. Not much exercise except for grouchy ironing, which is more energetic than willing ironing.
Good to see lots of others posting tips (carrot salad, had forgotten how nice than can really be), sit-ups - 40 - well done L & S. I will no doubt succumb to the inevitability of Gaz once I am trimmer, but the refreshing/disconcerting thing about our local gym is I am very far from being the tubbiest person in evidence, even now.
Enjoy what is left of the weekend, all

WideWebWitch · 25/05/2008 20:31

Oh DofN, how exciting! you've probably had it by now

L&S, well done on sit ups

Marina, and another SEVEN bin bags from our room. God, the things we found in ds's room - tops that were for 6-7 yos , they probably fitted him when we moved here...

Tomorrow we are tackling the kitchen and front room. Dh has been to the tip but has many more times to go. So hopefully by tomorrow our house will be less of a tip. our room is calm santuary now though, so that's nice. How we weren't suffocating in our sleep given the dust behind the bed I don't know. It was ewww. I've done the bathroom too and chucked ancient bottles of body lotion etc.

Today
Bacon and eggs, as mentioned
spinach salad with smoked haddock, avocado and dressing
roast pork with crackling, broccoli
and I have had 2 glasses of red wine and have just stuck a bottle of pink cava in the freezer to cool but I want it, we've had a hard working day and dh and I are both knackered.

This is something of an anti-climax. I was expecting another super-fast delivery, DD2 and I were showered, dried and in bed with hot chocolate by now. This is just boring! Bloody boys. Why are they so sloooow and laaaaaaazy. Does he not know that I have to go scranletting at Ticklepenny Corner...

tortoiseSHELL · 25/05/2008 20:54

DofN - that was like with ds2 - dd had been SO quick - half an hour with the mw and she was out - that the 8 or 9 hours with ds2 REALLY dragged!

Hope it speeds up soon!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/05/2008 21:18

Have had 2 more gushes of water in the past 40 minutes so gave up having a nap as a bad job. He is moving about a lot which I've never experienced before either.

LoveAndSqualor · 25/05/2008 22:07

Ah, came back to check and you're still here ... this is terribly exciting, for bystanders, I must say. Hope things have got going in earnest in the last hour ...

Just checking in on Norks before bedtime; fingers crossed he doesn't keep you waiting 'til morning.

unknownrebelbang · 25/05/2008 23:47

How exciting Duchess!

My friend had her little boy yesterday, so excitement both in RL and online.

I've had an ear infection which has knocked me about a bit over the last couple of days, but think I'm over the worst, fingers crossed.

Much sympathy to those who have had a difficult time recently.

Well done www!

Checking in on Norks. Was hoping for a latter-day Nativity tableau with chickens clucking softly, Great Danes standing guard etc...
Waves to sobernow and all my fellow rubberneckers caring e-doulas, goodnight!

WideWebWitch · 26/05/2008 08:11

Batters, that sounds lovely and wow at your walking. We are determined to get to a beach of some kind at some point this week, dd is desperate to go to one.

Sobernow, if that's the worst, well, I'm impressed frankly! I have been eating roquefort recently, it's lovely.

We drank cava and red wine last night and watched The Bourne Ultimatum on our big screen, most enjoyable. I feel fine this morning as I drank lots of water too and only got up at 7.30, which is a lie in for me.

Unknown, sympathy on ear infection.

We are tackling downstairs today and I am really hopeful that it's less work than the bedrooms because when it's done, THEN we are going to concentrate on taking the children out and doing things.

I have been re reading India and Neris and really finding their 'how we got fat' bit fab, I am like India in that bit I think.

hello WWW
would you believe that IPD is out of print in Australia????

I've put in an order on amazon uk but it will be 5 days at best

I think I have an idea of what to eat until then but I'll read your posts on this thread for more ideas.

who is having a baby? DuchessofNorks? That's good news

LoveAndSqualor · 26/05/2008 10:12

Back on to see how duchess is getting along ...

Jeez - what weather. Echo batters - it's horrendous. I am because today I have a scheduled afternoon 'off' (ie leaving ds with dp) - my first daytime alone-time since he was born, and was planning to cycle to a cafe, collapse and read my book for a few hours. Think the cycling bit may be out!

About to have breakfast and wrangle the baby into some clothes. Back later.
