Earrings that can be worn all the time, even in the shower?

Not sure if I’m looking for the impossible here, but let’s see.
Generally I don’t have much luck with earrings. I’m a careful person but often they fall out or get lost. What I’d really like is some earrings that I can wear all day, every day and not have to worry about taking them out in the shower. My preference is dangle or drop earrings with a bit of sparkle; the type that have a sort of hook at the back, without a closure. Earrings with a butterfly closure aren’t ideal for me as they will invariably end up falling out.
So, if such a thing exists, your recommendation please for a bling earring that won’t go crusty or discoloured in water.

I’ve had my ears pierced for 40+years now & unless they’re particularly delicate/expensive/sentimental earrings I’ve never taken them out to shower/swim. I mostly wear studs/hoops of some description, but they do either have a butterfly back or a close properly rather than just a hook, & haven’t had a problem.

Have you tried huggie earrings?

PaintDecisions · 05/04/2025 11:25

Maybe look at flat back labret options? They aren't like butterflies.

Thank you very much, though I’m not a fan of that style.

Thanks everyone. I’m off to google Huggie earrings now. Sounds like they could be just the ticket!

Me neither normally. But these ones are quite small so not too charvaesque 🤣🤣

@Willyoushutthefrontdoor 😂

@SwanOfThoseThings Sorry, I’m a bit confused. Are Huggie earrings a brand, or simply a type of earring? Blush

A style of earring - they are hoops that sit very closely to the ear, with nothing poking out where they fasten.

Although I am to earrings what Imelda Marcos was to shoes I have some rainbow titanium earrings that I use for everday wear - sleeping, shower, all the time. They are pretty colours so slightly "dressy" without being annoying. My preference is for large / intricate / complex earrings so a pair that balance everyday wear without catching on everything is an essential.

Oldraver · 05/04/2025 11:41

I'm another earring looser so now try to stick with lever backs

QueefQueen80s · 05/04/2025 11:41

I’ve never taken mine out and have loads.

dementedpixie · 05/04/2025 11:44

I would try labret earrings. You put them in from the back and can have threaded, threadless or push fit fronts. I wear mine all the time.

I find any kind of hoops that clip together are pretty durable. These are my current favourites.

They are lovely and my cup of tea. However they’re costume jewellery so are going to discolour in the shower pretty quick. Thanks though!

Screw backs are the way forward! I've had my current pair in for nearly two years now (yes I'm lazy). They are a slight faff to get in - not that bad but you wouldn't want to be changing them every day.
Silver Rain have lots.

Wellfuckmesideways · 05/04/2025 11:54

I have gold sleeper earrings, loads on amazon, different sizes etc. They might be what you are looking for

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 05/04/2025 11:56

I wear small-ish white gold hoops, and I think I’ve only taken them out about five times in the seven or so years since I bought them. And that would have been for a night out. They’re as new.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 05/04/2025 12:03

I wear little gold, diamond studded huggies as my everyday earrings; they've been in over 20 years. They only come out if I'm wearing something more dramatic to go out in.

EffortlesslyDecluttering · 05/04/2025 12:03

I have similar to these in white gold, they aren't dangly but they do sparkle, the hinge makes them secure but there is also nothing to catch on towels etc

You could try looking for titanium earrings. They're hypoallergenic so often designed to be worn all the time, so with screw-on backs or huggy style.

I was going to say this too - screw backs are great Smile
