Micro wedding 16 including us. My 2nd marriage (I didnt wear a wedding dress first time and regretted it)
Im 49 so wondering if im too old for this. I’m in a very fashiony job so i think im very fashion conscious and dress well. I’m a size 12.
I’ve ordered a whole load of dresses online and this was the first to come. My mum loved it but she would say a bin bag suited me. I’m worried it’s a younger persons dress.

I want to feel feminine, pretty and confident. I’m a size 12& 5’8 but felt awful in those phase 8 dresses when I tried them in store . I look like a troll in that photo. Imagine if I look like that on the day. I’d cry when I see the photos.

The Phase 8 dress in the photo is not nice. It's too tight, fussy and shiny. That's nothing to do with you- Phase 8 just makes some terrible dresses.

This is gorgeous, my favourite on the whole thread!

I haven’t RTFt yet but I like 4, followed by 2.

littlebilliie · 03/04/2025 23:11

2 &4

Sallyssn · 03/04/2025 23:18

Dress number 5 is pretty age appropriate classy and looks comfortable for a lower key wedding.
Hope you have a wonderful day

I’m so grateful to everyone of you that’s commented. I take it good or bad. I will report back with the chosen one when I decide. I chose the plain ones because I wanted to pair one of them with a bridal cape which I plan on wearing every day for the rest of my life.

Loving the bridal cape!
I’d defo swish around the house everyday in this…

@IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle at a local country club hotel. As I say it’s a tiny wedding, the registrar is coming to the hotel. We will have a meal and then go to a private cocktail bar for a few drinks and we leave to go on holiday at 4am the next day so no night do with extra guests. Just the 16 of us will be there. The day will last approx 1-9pm I’m thinking. We are staying at the hotel the night of and leaving for the airport from there.

Edited

Your plans sound lovely, have a wonderful day.

I ordered this dress today as I’d seen that but did t like the shoulder detail although it looks like is removable in another photo.

This one is very very pretty.

DodgyDoor · 04/04/2025 05:43

These Whistles ones are £249 in the Sale. Would you consider them? In a 12.

It is important you feel good in what you wear. That will give you a smile and confidence and you will look amazing!

There's no need for you to lack confidence OP. You have a lovely figure. Number 2 is my favourite of your dresses but I think you can do better. I like the Monsoon ones myself.

What about this? It's so simple and classy and would look amazing with your cape.

allmycats · 04/04/2025 10:23

The John Lewis dress above is so lovely and classy. Would be stunning with the cape

EBoo80 · 04/04/2025 10:26

I think dress 5 looks beautiful. The others feel quite American in style (where I feel like weddings are more evening wear). Not about your age - I would say the same to a 20 year old!

This is gorgeous, my favourite on the whole thread!

Now that is lovely, and appropriate for the intimate, low-key wedding you're planning OP.

I look in most bridal shop windows and shudder tbh. Fishtail styles, lace on bare skin, that weird new thing for see-through polyester stretched over a boned bodice...they're going for 'sexy bride' but look more Shein to me.

But it's all subjective. What I and other posters like might look desperately dull to you OP!

Love dress 5

Me too x

How strange, my reply has been hidden. It was just a link to a cosmopolitan article on the best High Street wedding dresses! Including companies like Rixo and nobody’s child

Alwayswonderedwhy · 04/04/2025 16:29

Unusual choice if you work in fashion. Nothing to do with age but I wouldn't go for this style.

MiserableMrsMopp · 04/04/2025 17:36

2 & 4 are OK for an older bride. But the back of one of them is very low.

The others are a bit glittery, or overly lacey, which I think can look cheap (as in, cheap lace effect).

stanleypops66 · 04/04/2025 20:41

2 then 4
