What do you think of these wedding dresses?

Micro wedding 16 including us. My 2nd marriage (I didnt wear a wedding dress first time and regretted it)
Im 49 so wondering if im too old for this. I’m in a very fashiony job so i think im very fashion conscious and dress well. I’m a size 12.
I’ve ordered a whole load of dresses online and this was the first to come. My mum loved it but she would say a bin bag suited me. I’m worried it’s a younger persons dress.

...and what do you mean by your voting "too old for me". This does not make sense.

andfinallyhereweare · 03/04/2025 10:05

Dress 5.

UpUpUpU · 03/04/2025 10:09

I like number 4 but I think it is dependent on your figure and whether the dress suits you.

owlexpress · 03/04/2025 10:12

@MissPrismsMistake those are gorgeous options, I particularly like the one from The Outnet for OP. @unlikelywitch The Self Portrait option is gorgeous too. Pretty much any of the bridal Self Portrait options are going to be suitable.

Contemporary Bridal Dresses, Bridal Jewellery – self-portrait

I particularly like White Crepe Tailored Maxi Dress – self-portrait and Cream Boucle Diamante Bow Mini Dress – self-portrait.

OP, not trying to be rude but I wouldn't have guessed you worked in fashion based on the options you ordered. Do you have a colleague who could help you look and give honest opinions?

Happyinarcon · 03/04/2025 10:17

@owlexpress
the 2 you picked out are fantastic

MissSookieStackhouse · 03/04/2025 10:38

Another vote for dress 2!

Hdjdb42 · 03/04/2025 10:43

I tried on a few and I instantly knew which one I liked. I stopped trying any others on. You'll know when you put it on!

burningmountain · 03/04/2025 10:44

Its hard to say without seeing them on you, but 2 and 4 are amazing if you have the figure to carry them off. Three is also really nice and elegant. Four is nice too. Not keen on 1. That's my order of preference.

Congratulations OP!

starfishmummy · 03/04/2025 10:46

I like the shape of number one but it needs a nicer, less sparkly, less see through top - I hate that you can see the two circular "modesty" things over the boobs.

Not a fan if any if the others.

meganorks · 03/04/2025 12:01

4 is my favourite. 2 is nice but doesn't quite look bridal. 5 is awful and doesn't even look good on the model!

2 and 4 look like they might be quite unforgiving in showing any lumps and bumps even on a lovely slim figure. I might be wrong though I guess it will depend on the fit and material.

RuthW · 03/04/2025 12:17

That dress is lovely and age appropriate

Ruthietuthie · 03/04/2025 12:42

I love @owlexpress's suggestions.
The ones you'v selected so far won't look nice in real life, as the fabric and construction is poor. Self-portrait or one of the also elegant options from Net a Porter will have high quality material and construction which will drape beautifully.

CaptBirdsEar · 03/04/2025 12:52

5 is lovely - the others too floaty. Good luck!

UpMyself · 03/04/2025 12:53

Dress 2 from the back is beauriful, but I'm not keen on the slit. if you have the legs, it might look ok.

TizerorFizz · 03/04/2025 14:30

@MissPrismsMistake You might see sequins as daywear but it doesn’t make it classy.

I would also look at Self Portrait. White is fine but I don’t like dresses covered in sequins for a day wedding. These are more second dresses for the evening do, but the op isn’t having one.

babybirdsmomma · 03/04/2025 15:14

For what it’s worth I think 4 is stunning! Classic , classy , sophisticated. Perfect for the venue you describe. It is timeless and classic. The phase 8 one has a different vibe a bit more laid back but equally suitable for your special day. I know people mean well by adding options but imagine you are getting overwhelmed with too many to choose from. I’d wait until they have all arrived and try them on one after the other to then see if you have the feeling of which is the one. If you feel great in it then that’s the one. Have a fantastic day - enjoy x

CanOfMangoTango · 03/04/2025 15:35

Really a lot depends on the material used and the construction.

I'm going to be honest that I don't really like any of them. The phase 8 is awful, just far too much going on and looks too tight.

I agree with PP to look for a dress that just happens to be white, rather than a wedding dress.

CanOfMangoTango · 03/04/2025 16:30

If you're into fashion, Curate and Rotate have a drop of wedding dresses coming soon, just seen it on their IG.

Not sure when it's due to land but you'll want to be on the website straight away to get your pick of stuff.

Wyksixs · 03/04/2025 17:38

2 and 4 are both lovely

AnotherCF · 03/04/2025 19:21

Before ordering dresses I think you could benefit from more time envisaging your wedding. Your choices fall across a wide spectrum from princess to sleek and sexy. How do you want to feel on your big day?

this is ok too if you like dropped shoulder details.

I ordered this dress today as I’d seen that but did t like the shoulder detail although it looks like is removable in another photo.

I assume you’ve looked at Monsoon already but this is quite nice I think.

This is beautiful!

I live a few on the self portrait page thank you for those suggestions. I think I’ll return all the dresses as I really can’t make my mind up. I’m just not feeling confident enough just now and completely have lost my own personal style as I’ve got older and keep swaying towards my younger taste which doesn’t suit me now.

im not in fashion as clothes styling or anything like that. More of a trends of beauty, I work with some very stylish ladies and am always told I’m well dressed and put together. But as I said it’s my age nearing 50 that’s got me feeling so lost right now.

This is beautiful!

I have orders this 🙌🏼 it’s coming tomorrow I can’t wait to try it on. There was also a lace one I got from there too. Will be having a big try on over the weekend.
