If you were only allowed to have ONE perfume for life which would it be and why?

As title says really. I think mine would be Halfeti because it’s the only one I’ve ever had compliments on.

OP posts:

Does anyone remember a perfume by Chloe in the nineties called Ghost ( I think?) I was really sad when it was discontinued.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/04/2025 21:01

Calvin Klein Eternity Moment. It's the only one I wear.

DameEdnaAverage2 · 02/04/2025 21:02

Picking only one is so difficult! I think it would have to be Creed - Love in white.

Pengaligons The Favourite

Ysatis in the original bottle

Chanel No5...it's the only perfume I ever wear, mainly because it's the only one I have found that doesn't give me a headache.
Sadly, I can't even smell it on myself 5 minutes after I have sprayed ...my OH says he can, so I will carry on wearing it.

I don’t wear it myself but I don’t think this has ever been bettered. Still absolutely unique, and worthy of the label ‘iconic’ ( even though that term is horribly overused!)

Never bettered I mean!

J'adore by Dior, love it.

Aligirlbear · 02/04/2025 21:15

Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin. Been using it since it was first launched and before Jo Malone became a big name / mainstream.

PourUsAGlass · 02/04/2025 21:16

Marc Jacobs Dot. I get so many compliments when wearing it, it's gorgeous

Penhaligons Luna.

Sorry OP, I hate Halfeti.

I love Luna and Halfeti but my fave is Empressa…

OliviaFlaversham · 02/04/2025 21:19

In my early 20s I would have said DKNY Women. In late 20s Ralph Lauren Romance. In my early 30s Le Parfum by Elie Saab. And now…not sure. I love orange scents (Jo Malone Orange Blossom is gorgeous) but they don’t seem to last on my skin. A couple of winters I only wore Pomegranate Noir. Recently I switch between Elie Saab’s Lumièr and Chanel No. 5 which I used to think smelt of cat wee on my but now I adore.

“Coco” Chanel

This. ^
Absolute class.

PyongyangKipperbang · 02/04/2025 21:24

Ten years ago it would be Chanel No 5 but now it smells acidic on me (a thing that can happen apparently) so now it is Elizabeth Arden White Tea.

Frontroomroomjungle · 02/04/2025 21:26

Another vote for Prada Paradox, though I wear a dupe in the day. An accidental find, and I wore it to my wedding.

catbb85 · 02/04/2025 21:27

Elie Saab Le Parfum

handsdownthebest · 02/04/2025 21:28

Ecsentric Molecules...various combinations

DramaAlpaca · 02/04/2025 21:31

Oh gosh, such a difficult decision. I think I'd pick Chanel No. 19 EDT.

Forgot to say why - it's fresh and green and approachable, but with a slightly spiky edge which I love. It's the only Chanel fragrance I like, and it's really 'me'.

Justcallmebebes · 02/04/2025 21:31

Yvresse, Vyes Saint Laurent or Chanel No 5, musky and lovely

Pianoaholic · 02/04/2025 21:32

Love Calvin klein Eternity, as mentioned already. I remember having a limited edition rose one which was lovely.
I also like Nuxe fragrance which I get from m&s , the original one and the floral one in the pink bottle.
Also Clarins Eau Extrordinare.

Can't choose just one very easily!

HRTFT so apologies if this has been said, but apparently if other people can smell your perfume but you can’t, it means it works really well with your body chemistry.

My one perfume would be Anaïs Anaïs. Started wearing it at 18; diverted into Chanel Allure for a bit and Cacharel’s Noa; I also like Lush’s Karma perfume. But Anaïs Anaïs is perfect, not too heavy, not too light, wear any time- a proper Goldilocks perfume for me!

Shalimar. I've used it for 50 years and will use it for the rest of my life

“Coco” Chanel

Me too. My absolute favourite, lots of positive comments and it reminds me of my late DM.
