If you were only allowed to have ONE perfume for life which would it be and why?

As title says really. I think mine would be Halfeti because it’s the only one I’ve ever had compliments on.

OP posts:

Chanel Chance EDT not the EDP.

BeautifullyDone · 02/04/2025 19:01

Maison Margiela By the Fireplace, because I cannot get enough of the smell. I’m like a cat with catnip with it!
Also it’s one of the few perfumes that I can actually smell on myself after about half an hour or so.

Chanel: Coco Mademoiselle or if funds were tight, Aldi: No 3 Pomegranate

DiscoDown18 · 02/04/2025 19:04

Well as Laura Mercier Verbena Infusion has been discontinued, it would have to be Chanel Chance Eau Tendre.

Lancôme Idole

Pallisers · 02/04/2025 19:04

Right now I'm wearing Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia and I love it but if I had to pick one I'd pick anais anais - brings back such lovely memories of my youth.

mugglewump · 02/04/2025 19:06

Estee Lauder Knowing. It's been my signature scent for 30 years and people always ask me what I am wearing. I wear it because I love the smell, but I also like that it is rather unusual (or just old?) and people compliment me on it and ask what it is.

Sminty2 · 02/04/2025 19:07

Flower Bomb by Viktor and Rolfe. I’ve never found anything else that I liked more. It makes me happy.

Purplecatshopaholic · 02/04/2025 19:07

Oh I can’t pick just one! I love a great fragrance. But I do return again and again to Portrait of a Lady from Frederick Malle.

BlackStrayCat · 02/04/2025 19:08

Penhaligons Luna.

Sorry OP, I hate Halfeti.

Grazyna80 · 02/04/2025 19:08

Roger&Gallet fig flowers one .

Following with interest because my favourites are Dolce and G Light blue (too summery for everyday, all year). And Dior Addict (navy bottle). It’s gorgeous but quite sexy evening or corporate feeling

ToffeeForEveryone · 02/04/2025 19:09

Dior Dolce Vita

Inlimboin50s · 02/04/2025 19:09

Eternity. I've worn it for years and love it.

Uricon2 · 02/04/2025 19:10

At one time it would have been Opium but it has been wrecked. Mitsouko now I think.

WispasAreNicerThanFlakes · 02/04/2025 19:10

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. It’s taken me a long time to settle on a favourite but this is all I will ever wear now. I love it.

SemperIdem · 02/04/2025 19:11

Tom Ford - Grey Vetiver

Joy. The one by Jean Patou. Sadly it's not made any more but I have a large jar of body cream that I'm hoping will last until I no longer care what I or anyone else smells like. I reckon I can do it. Using it every other day works, and I am quite old. Ok, very old 😁

Eternity gets my vote too. Clean soapy fresh smell. Have worn it for 25 years.

I would have said the same until recently. I got a bottle for Christmas, having not had any for a while, and it just doesn't smell the same on me any more Sad. I'm guessing it's a perimenopausal hormonal thing. My second favourite is Escape, so I'll have to see if that still suits me. I do have a bottle of l'Occitane Néroli & Orchidée atm, which is lovely.

Has anyone else found a perfume they used to love no longer smells the same on them?

PurpleChrayn · 02/04/2025 19:19

Chanel Misia. Light enough for the day but complex enough for the evening.

AcquadiP · 02/04/2025 19:19

Acqua di Parma, Blu Mediterraneo, Arancia di Capri. It's a lovely fresh, clean, invigorating scent that reminds me of Italy. It's suitable for every occasion. It is expensive but it lasts a good while before I need to spritz again. I buy the hand and body lotion too. My favourite used to be Dolce and Gabbana's Light Blue but Acqua di Parma is a cut above.

Yes, I used to love No 5, but after having my first child, I smelled like a hotel bathroom, fake and overly chemical. I was really sad, it smelled lovely on everyone else but not me. Hormones have a lot to answer for.

DollopOfFun · 02/04/2025 19:24

If it had to be one and one only, it would be Le Labo The Matcha 26. Just love.

annabannan · 02/04/2025 19:27

Portrait of a lady, such a unique smell and gets lots of comments
