My engagement ring arrived this morning and I'm so in love with it, can I see yours?

DH chose mine but knew I wanted a sapphire or an emerald and not a solitaire. Wedding band had to be made to fit because of the shape.

Aquamarine bezel.
Congrats OP.
Love a ring thread and this one hasn't disappointed.

This was mine (white sapphire). Don't wear it much since DH died but maybe I should start again.

This is beautiful and so unusual. You should definitely wear it.

My original was a moissanite solitaire on white gold but I lost that one :(

Love my replacement one even if it isn't possible to wear a wedding band with it.

Fab u lous am v. Jealous of this one

Terrible hands but I adore my ring. Really dislike my wedding band though and need to change that (hence not pictured).

Wow this is my favourite of the thread!

It was second hand & seemed quite unusual!

Very unusual + very lovely!

Empra123 · 22/02/2025 22:39

White gold, aquamarine and diamond and worn on right hand, as short space between finger base and knuckle means wedding band doesn't allow space for two rings! Picked by DH, from a ring I'd seen previously and hints dropped.

So many beautiful rings here - I love this one in particular as the setting is so striking. And I LOVE opals, OP, yours is lovely.

I'm a metalsmith and stone setter - for anyone struggling to find a wedding ring to match the engagement ring, please consider getting a bespoke one made (not by me, I'm a bench jeweller atm). I know SO many goldsmiths and silversmiths who are really struggling in this climate. Most of them have stocks of metals and stones and know that they have to be extremely competitive with prices right now.

Artisan-made rings are a bargain atm frankly, you'll get exactly what you want, and the quality will be superb.

Hope that helps the odd poster wanting a perfect wedding band to fit with their engagement ring!

I dont have an engagement ring but I've had a chunky silver wedding ring for 32 years and it's still absolutely lovely. We could only afford silver when we got married, and I never wear gold anyway.

Mine and my wedding ring were made together to fit together, and DH's ring at the same time. My engagement ring is platinum with a 6mm sapphire and tiny diamonds on one side. I wanted asymetry. Pic is of all three rings.

Such a beautiful ring, OP. I love opals! But please do be careful with it - I dropped and opal bracelet recently and the stone cracked right in half 🙁

My ring (it's an antique diamond in a new setting)

oops - didn't know the photo was going to be so big!

Edited

This is Stunning!!

That was a rubbish pic so here is a closer up one :)

I LOVE the cross shape! Is it an antique? What's the stone?

Mine is sapphire and diamond. I love it, but it's a bit loose now as I've lost weight and more to lose, so will need to have it made smaller at some point.

Ooooh, I am loving this! Very Princess Di! (I love that ring.)

JoyousEagle · 22/02/2025 22:53

This is mine. There are small diamonds either side that you can't really see, and a yellow gold band. My grandad had it made for my grandma, who left it to my mum, who offered it to DH to give to me.

I have a separate sapphire ring that I wear on my other hand that DH gave me for our 1st wedding anniversary so that I have one from him as well.

I do have a thumb, I promise!
My husband picked my engagement ring because the style has the same name as our eldest daughter.

Your daughter is called Solitaire? 🤭

Oh wow, I love this set, but I especially love the sapphire wishbone and diamond ring. It reminds me of a ring I had and loved when I was young. Love wishbone shape rings.

Lovely rings, everyone - thanks for sharing.

@Tarkan - your seven stone daisy ring is beautiful - I had one just like it that was inherited. I wore it every day for years until a stone fell out.

I took it to a supposedly reputable independent jeweller and he not only lost the original stone, plus another one, but replaced both with modern ones - and the ring was horribly misshapen and ruined beyond repair.. Unbelievably I actually paid for the damage.

I have tried to find a replacement but the nine stone versions were more common, (so that is what I bought to replace mine).

Yours made me happy to see one in perfect condition, (but sad when I thought of mine that was ruined). It’s inspired me to have another look for a seven stone version, but buying one would be a bit extravagant.

(I tried to get the original ring made into a pendant, but that was cocked up too😿)

This is like my Granny’s engagement ring. It’s a bit skew whiff in some of the settings. I had always wondered about trying to get it repaired, but your experience is a cautionary tale. What a shame your ring was ruined.

This is chic.

Btw, silver is the whitest metal of them all, including the platinum family. Just gotta keep it polished!

Pigcasso · 22/02/2025 14:15

yes you are not supposed to get opals wet so only for occasional use
also silver will not stand up to everyday wear

I’ve been wearing the same silver jewellery every day every day for years and years without a problem. I don’t even take it off when I go to bed. It’s fine.

There are an awful lot of too small rings on too large fingers, considering this is MN

I love my ring and my fingers are horrible, but oh well …
