My engagement ring arrived this morning and I'm so in love with it, can I see yours?

Not quite as traditional as most, perhaps a little 'old fasioned' even, but I love it (&my wedding ring- only got married last year and engaged the year before that)
It's onyx ( May look a bit sapphire in photos)

Eh?

OP changed username now...

This was mine (white sapphire). Don't wear it much since DH died but maybe I should start again.

I wonder how many people get your username?! Our whole family used to refer to it as not ‘1’ but ‘I Clavdivs’! 1976? Brilliant bbc drama.

Fingerscrossed22 · 22/02/2025 23:16

Also, Congratulations OP!

@Floursacktabletop Well usually you can't move for teeny-tiny MN people talking about how non-ordinarily-sized they are, yet these fingers are... normal...+

@OnStrikeNextWeek I wasn't being personal. Just trying to highlight the hypocrisy of this site

But nobody is doing that on this thread so just let people enjoy something nice

Aquamarine bezel.
Congrats OP.
Love a ring thread and this one hasn't disappointed.

Edited

That's stunning!

OP, I am utterly disgusted by your previous username , the surname part and do not care if that was a pretend character in some comedy program.
Many many millions lost their lives, murdered on his orders.
You thought it was witty to use it ?
What is wrong with you ?

There are an awful lot of too small rings on too large fingers, considering this is MN

This reminds me of a colleague-who-when I was showing off my ring told me to hold on as she had to go and get her magnifying glass😂

It's sad to see spiteful remarks about other people's rings.

I can't show mine as I never had one. We got married but never were engaged.

Loveagoodring · 22/02/2025 23:37

another sapphire lover!

the sapphire is really dark and only really blue when in the sun.

engagement, eternity and wedding. Has to swap the order when I got the eternity ring as this looked the best order.

some gorgeous rings here!

Here's mine, just wanted something simple at the time but now I'm looking at all the really interesting rings on this thread - they're so lovely! I did see a vintage ring in a shop a few years ago that looked gorgeous so I might think about getting one of those for one of the big anniversaries.

everychildmatters · 22/02/2025 23:50

My engagement ring isn't actually an "engagement" ring insofar as that's not what it looks like or how it was advertised.
Personally speaking, I didn't want to be the same as the majority so avoided the typical solitaire etc.
I did advise my now husband of this though before he proposed as being non-trad finding something I actually liked would have been a very difficult task (tbh I didn't know myself until I saw it). It's sort of debutante in style and the side parts are a mixture of trellised rose and white gold. It's a flatter ring than a traditional engagement ring to which I like as I don't worry about catching it.
Different and unique so sums me up well and set the tone for our marriage well ❤️

My, aren't you lovely?

WearyAuldWumman · 22/02/2025 23:55

OnStrikeNextWeek · 22/02/2025 23:11

Well now you have me paranoid!
I love my ring and my fingers are horrible, but oh well …

Just ignore. It takes a really mean streak for someone to be so negative about such a lovely thread.

If they don't have anything nice to say...

everychildmatters · 23/02/2025 00:07

The only person who has to love their engagement is the person wearing it.
And for me, it's more about what it actually means that what it looks like.
My engagement ring from my first husband tbh was more about him saying "Ooooh look at me - my fiancée has an expensive ring - aren't I the Alpha male?" rather than what it meant. He certainly never loved me so it was ultimately meaningless. I'm sure other people may have seen it and thought "Ooooooooh fancy ring!" but my marriage was absolutely miserable.
My engagement ring from my husband now is non-trad and cost less than £1k. So much, much less in monetary terms than my engagement ring from ex but it was never about that. My second husband knows love cannot be bought.
I absolutely love it - it reflects me and who I am far better than the traditional choice of my first one.
But more than that, it means something because I know that when that proposal was made it was from the heart and genuine.

"Two on a twist" with platinum setting. (Have it cleaned regularly)
White gold wedding ring.

I love this two-stone style - beautiful

The fashion for "Tu et Moi" has evolved from this but IMO the beautiful classic like yours cannot be bettered .

Superleo837 · 23/02/2025 00:17

Here’s mine…original wedding at the bottom, platinum eternity ring in the middle and engagement ring. Bought wedding and engagement ring before the wedding because I lost original one collecting holly in the woods 😩🥺. DH bought me the platinum one for Christmas after birth of 3rd child 🥰

Hartey40 · 23/02/2025 00:23

@everychildmatters this is exactly same as me! I had the alpha male ex husband and the expensive ring. My ring from my new man cost around £800 he chose it and I love it! He's everything my ex husband wasn't, in a good way 😊x

That’s such a pretty ring! Is it pink or a lighter ruby?

adore my ring 🥰 and the little claws that hold the diamond in are heart shaped, so lovely

So delicate and pretty! 🤩
