SOTD PDM Delina - got it at Christmas in the Harvey Nicks advent - tbh at the time I was obsessed with the Gourmand’s so I was a bit meh - but add in the spring and sun and WOW I love it now 🤣 so 100% agree with a PP who said you should try the samples in different seasons

TheLongRider · 14/03/2025 20:44

I got to try the Hermes Rhubarb Ecarlate today. It's very nice, not too sour not too sweet. I can still smell it faintly 6 hours later. The base note is white musk, that brings back serious Body Shop vibes. Overall very pleasant, fairly inoffensive perfume.

paristotokyo · 14/03/2025 20:48

@potplantsinparadiseI’m very interested to try the le labo eucalyptus after your review as I was initally unsure. But I do enjoy le labo as a house generally. I need some hot weather scents as I am relocating to a hot place so all my autumnal/wintery heavier fragrances that just aren’t going to work!

MiaN · 15/03/2025 08:52

sticking with summer mood - Atelier Cologne Bohemian Orange Blossom. I see all remaining Atelier Cologne are 50% off on Look Fantastic , I don't know if this is sign they will stop stocking them.

IDontHateRainbows · 15/03/2025 08:59

TF tobacco vanille today. I can't stop sniffing it, it's gorgeous. My sample from perfumista has gone down by half in only 2 days so I need to rein it in!!

I think I can smell Vanila Smoke from the paper strip today, and I like it.

MrsBnow12 · 15/03/2025 12:56

Can I ask what people think of this selection of fragrances, I am in the US later this month so debating picking one up, with tax and the exchange rate it works out to just over £30.

I would buy it myself if I could!

IDontHateRainbows · 15/03/2025 13:22

Some decent brands there albeit tiny samples. I've come to the conclusion that tiny samples are not my friend as if good, they just make me yearn for a bigger sample.

Ideal size for me is 10ml. Just picked up the initio selection box of 6 x 10ml as HN doing 15% off. I'll try to sell 4 and keep 2.

Going through some samples today at home and feeling fruity! Left hand has very good girl ELIXIR which has I think cherry I'm the top and vanilla in the dry down. Right hand G&B sunset hour, this really is lovely with lots of peach, can see it becoming a summer staple.

SOTD is Ineke's Evening Edged in Gold. Very pretty powdery saffron and plum. Sweet but not too sweet, rather comforting but definitely one for the powder-lovers!

@MiaN @IDontHateRainbows Thank you both, I think I will get it as new to scents and believe it has a good selection across various brands.
I understand what you are saying @IDontHateRainbows about loving them but am hoping to draw up a list to try further, I think my days are buying something over 10/15ml are over as am still loving new ones. This is after wearing Estée Lauder only for around 35 years.

If you find you love a tiny sample but don't want the full bottle I'd really recommend somewhere like perfumista which do samples of various sizes up to 9ml of loads of luxury and niche brands.

They are the best in terms of value for money I've found as the 9mls are often around the £30 mark, less than buying a small size from the house directly in some cases! Lovely chunky glass atomizer too, I hate the shitty plastic ones some sample places do.

@IDontHateRainbows Thank you for the advice re perfumista, will definitely look at them.
Am hoping Liberty do a good fragrance edit over the spring/summer.

It's great if you plan to buy one of the perfumes in the set. Not one for me

Went into town today and tried Bal d’Afrique and L’air du desert Marocain. Bal d’Afrique I find a happy, friendly kind of perfume which opens with a general citrus scent, then I get a burst of grapefruit then a slightly smoky sweetness ( made me think of strawberry jam on toast) and a nice dry down. L’air du Desert on the other hand I found aseptically dry, and bitter in a medicinal kid of way , like a pharmacy somewhere the desert. I really didn’t like it.

TheGander · 15/03/2025 22:30

Sorry didn’t mean to quote @MiaN , don’t know how that happened!

MiaN · 16/03/2025 09:24

Tocca Stella for me today. I am in mood for citrus

IDontHateRainbows · 16/03/2025 09:27

Frederic Malle musc ravageur today for me. Starts off citrussy and turns into a gorgeous vanilla, musky dry down. Haven't had much from this house before. I know portrait of a lady is popular but I'm not massively into rose.

It's national perfume week apparently, so a few of the big stores are doing 15% off. I've already ordered the initio set. Trying to resist further temptation. May be a good time to buy for anyone intending to make any purchases soon.

Are you buying any @MrsBnow12? Just trying to decide if I want one as I have some CB vouchers.

MrsBnow12 · 16/03/2025 10:49

@OvaHere I had two £20 vouchers so have bought the Warm and Woody and the Floral and Fragrant ones, bought the cost down to £15 each.
I also asked a colleague to buy the Bloomingdale’s Fragrance edit so will be stocked up for a while 😀

Those are the two I'm leaning towards. I really don't need any though.

MrsBnow12 · 16/03/2025 11:04

@OvaHere I do not need any of them either but set myself an allowance each month to spend on beauty related items and anything I sell goes back into my kitty.
I do need to start saving for advent season and stop spending though.
