Embracing wide leg jeans - do these suit me?

Wondered if these look ok?

I've been a lover of skinnies for years and haven't worn jeans for about the best part of a year because I'm not keen on the newer styles.

Anyhow, went for it and have had mixed opinions in real life ranging from...

"You look beautiful" (from 6 year old) to
"Hideous, not classic and don't suit you" (straight talking friend!

So keep and wear or the search goes on?

I don’t really understand the issue with them?
IMO they look more like a straight leg anyway rather than a wide leg.

DistressedDamson · 31/01/2025 07:08

Actually I think they look well on you. When you said wide legged I though you meant the super baggy ones which I think you have to young and very skinny to get away with but these are good-a classic cut, remind me of the Levi’s I used to wear BITD

NormaleKartoffeln · 31/01/2025 07:09

It's quite hard to say without seeing all of you, but based on what I can see they look fine! I'd describe these more as regular fit as opposed to loose or baggy. I find that I wear tighter jeans in damper/colder weather and looser when it's drier - I can't bear the cold ankle draft with looser jeans or the way they sit when wet!

MrsMagoooo · 31/01/2025 07:12

They're ok but need a belt. They don't look like a wide leg jean to me either though, more straight cut?

GreenJasper · 31/01/2025 07:13

Oh, maybe the wideness is tucked slightly or my picture is terrible but they are definitely wide and not straight!

They look fine to me - and your friend sounds deranged! I agree they don't really look like wide leg.

Crocsake · 31/01/2025 07:13

I think they look good on you, but I don’t like the shirt you’ve put with them. I think the jeans would look better with a different top, but definitely keep the jeans.

Wowser01 · 31/01/2025 07:14

I think they suit you.

Edited

Me too, I now wear leggings under wide legged trousers to avoid the cold draft and try buy them slightly shorter so they don’t drag the floor. Latter is a challenge to buy but I’ve found a couple

GreenJasper · 31/01/2025 07:15

Shirt as going semi- smart for work.

Thanks for opinions!

Definitely wide leg as label says pallozzo (or similar!)

This is what I think of when I think wide leg:

This is what I think of when I think wide leg:

Oh I think that's too wide plus an odd length.

I don't know what to call my jeans!! Maybe I'll refer to them as 'not skinny' 🤣

They're not very wide, and look great!

NetZeroZealot · 31/01/2025 07:20

They look great on you OP.
I’m 60 & love my wide-leg jeans from a certain well known High St. chain.

SidekickSylvia · 31/01/2025 07:20

I think they look great, but it feels a bit weird going from skinny fit to wide. You're very conscious of wearing big trousers for the first few times, if you see what I mean. I think they suit you though.

Doggymummar · 31/01/2025 07:20

They look like straight leg, certainly not wide leg. They look fairly ordinary to me. Not super stylish
Not old fashioned

creamsnugjumper · 31/01/2025 07:21

They just look like boyfriend cut, and with the shirt look like men's jeans, not wide cut.

I mean they look better than skinny jeans if you wear shirts with skinny's?

MagicalMystical · 31/01/2025 07:21

The jeans look fine but the colour with the top you’re wearing makes the outfit look meh, insipid. There’s no message, no look. By the way, it might be the camera angle but you look to have the same thumbs as me.

Kebabbky · 31/01/2025 07:23

Mmm.. I’m not keen and I don’t think the footwear does them any favours.

I'm 49, 5'7" and size 12/14 and I look much better in wide leg trousers than carrot/tapered, trust me.

soupyspoon · 31/01/2025 07:26

They're not wide leg, Im personally not keen on the colour either, they look a bit scruffy and baggy

They're neither one thing or the other.

You have the legs to carry off a nice wide leg.

Sparkletastic · 31/01/2025 07:26

They are ok. I think a proper wide leg in indigo would look better.

SharpOpalNewt · 31/01/2025 07:27

You look great in them, OP. I don't understand why you would even have to ask!

SoScarletItWas · 31/01/2025 07:28

The shape is ok but agree with PP that they look straight / boyfriend rather than wide.

The colour is drab. Are they khaki? Not keen on it and it doesn’t go with the shirt. The top of the outfit and the bottom (jeans/trainers) look disconnected.

Hyperfish808 · 31/01/2025 07:29

I like them on you
