Embracing wide leg jeans - do these suit me?

Wondered if these look ok?

I've been a lover of skinnies for years and haven't worn jeans for about the best part of a year because I'm not keen on the newer styles.

Anyhow, went for it and have had mixed opinions in real life ranging from...

"You look beautiful" (from 6 year old) to
"Hideous, not classic and don't suit you" (straight talking friend!

So keep and wear or the search goes on?

Yeah, they look great.

Id wear those jeans with a tight t shirt and short jacket. You need the tightness to balance out the wide legs.

The fit is fine. I don't think the definition matters. But I agree that the outfit doesn't work, sorry. If the shirt is indicative of the colours you'd like to be wearing then those jeans would be better in black, navy or indigo. And bin the scarf.

They’re fine. As others have said, they look straight rather than wide. They’d look good styled differently. Not keen on shirt, scarf or shoes.

They look unremarkable to me. You wouldn't stand out in a crowd as well or badly dressed. Depends what you want to achieve. But if your photo was what I saw looking in the mirror at a shop, I probably wouldn't buy them. Could look better with different top / shoes though, and a touch shorter.

Keep the jeans and ditch the 'friend'.

The style and length is great on you. Not really wide leg as pp have noted. More 90s regular fit full length. Will be great in summer with sandals too.

Not wide legged, the whole combo is bland, no idea what colour those jeans are meant to be.

The shape is fine but the colour is rather drab and uninspiring, I think in a classic denim blue they'd look much better.

One of the harder things about choosing a new shape of jeans is that suddenly all the combos you wore with the old shape done look as good with the new. The rest of your outfit looks like it would be better suited to skinnies and you need to experiment a little to find outfits that work better with the new shape of jeans to give a better overall balance.

i hate shirts tucked in at the front too but that’s just a me thing I suspect. If it’s tucked in all around, that’s okay. But if you’re loose at the back I’m afraid that’s a no from me.

I think you look nice, OP. I'm very confused by the current jeans fashion myself, but whatever those jeans are (wide, straight), they look really nice on you.

They're a strange shape and colour but I think your friend isn't very nice.

I like them. Love the colour and shoes. Add a scarf, belt and long line coat and it’s a great outfit.

They look great on you, what brand are they? I’d love a pair in dark denim!

I think it's the colour they don't like rather than the shape.

Love the jeans, though I’m wondering if those shoes aren’t the best with them? I often wear a chunkier/flatform sole with a wide leg (and often ankle grazer length too)

I'm slightly bemused by some of the comments here, I think they look great on you and go perfectly with your lovely shoes!

I think they look OK, to answer your question. I like the way you have styled them and the colours. With that figure and those legs you can wear anything. But I think you could go baggier so it looks like you meant it. These are a bit too neat, like you knew wider shapes were in but didn’t have the full conviction to go for it.

I think the shape suits you really well. I'm not keen on the colour though. Agree with pp that blue or black would look a lot better.

I agree with others the shape is great, colour is a bit meh. I’d be sad if my friend spoke to me like that, hope she’s usually nicer to you!
