For me, a gorgeous metallic bronze shadow and liner from Miss Selfridge. I think it was called Iron Lady?

Clinique City Block - the gold one that had a slight sheen to it. LOVED it.

Also a Dior rinse-off cleanser that came in a pale pink bottle. Can't remember the name, but it was lovely.

And Laura Biagiotti Venezia!

Anyone else?

Body Shop - Ananya, dewberry, vanilla, strawberry and satsuma bubbles (the satsuma body wash is the same smell!), banana shampoo & conditioner.

perfumes - Caroline Herrera 213, Stella by Stella McCartney, the Benefit perfumes (I loved Maybe Baby and Laugh With Me Lee Lee), Om by GAP, impulse o2 body spray takes me right back to the girls changing rooms after PE circa 1998.

individual Urban Decay eye shadows in round silver cases. I had lots of lovely super pigmented metallic shades.

Miss Selfridge everything.

Boots 'Natural Collection' - loved all their bath stuff in my early teens in the 90s.

Laura Ashley #1 fragrance, gucci envy

Yes! Envy was the only perfume I wore for nearly 20 years, I miss it so much. I saw an unopened cellophane sealed bottle in a charity shop recently and was so excited but they wanted £100 for it even though I pointed out that it must be years old and were non-committal about whether I could get a refund if it was off so I left it. Still slightly regret not risking it!

BrightSnail · 02/01/2025 14:08

Impulse 02 was the scent of my early teens. I also got a Neutralia clear shampoo once that smelled amazing and I've never smelled anything like it since. Anyone remember Sportactif lip balm (from Avon, I think)? And Avon also had a deodorant in a pink container. There was a white sensitive, a green 'fresh' and the pink one, I think it was called 'soft'. Anyway that smelled gorgeous too. Funny how smell creates and recalls memory.

BrightSnail · 02/01/2025 14:10

😂 What happened to all the dewberry?! You couldn't move for dewberry in the 90s.

Tighnawhat · 02/01/2025 14:13

Lancôme Face Bronzer Gel. Unsurpassed by anything else.

SwirlyShirly · 02/01/2025 14:14

I also really miss the original scents of the Aussie 5 minute miracle shampoo and conditioners - they changed the scents a while back and they're just not the same now.

Iheartmysmart · 02/01/2025 14:16

Clinique naturally glossy mascara
Body Shop pink ginger lipstick - just the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade for me
Corn Silk face powder
Anne French cleansing milk
Body Shop hair salad

HaddyAbrams · 02/01/2025 14:19

Everything Body Shop. It was a treat in our house, affordable, but not "everyday". I used to love having a gift basket made up for my mum for birthdays/Christmas.

Maybelline (?) Dream matte mousse foundation. I'm sure it would be awful on my 40 year old skin. But was lush as a teen.

Natural collection brown mascara. I've never found one that isn't too dark/, doesn't make my eyelashes look like spider legs, is affordable and doesn't cause an allergic reaction on my sensitive eyes.

I also remember buying a new foundation in the early 00s. One side of the tube was foundation, the other was primer. Everyone told me primer was stupid and not needed and a rip off. Fast forward a few years and everyone was buying primer.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 02/01/2025 14:22

Boots sunflower shampoo and body wash
all of the Boots elements range but Earth was the absolute best
Miss Selfridge nail varnish, I swear they had new shades everywhere week, favourites were a beautiful metallic cornflower blue called petrol (finally found that Orly now do a similar shade) and a glitter mix of pink, gold and orange that looked like a firework.
Spectaular nail varnish - 99p - favourite colours were Brighton Rock (glossy rock pink), Dancing Queen (royal purple shimmer) and Silver Cloud (mirror-like silver).

I miss 90’s shopping. The sales shopping this year has been so disappointing.

Blarn · 02/01/2025 14:24

I also miss the Clinique Pore Refining stuff. I used one that was like a paste and it smoothed out my skin beautifully. My favourite was the fluid which I used at night which cleared my pores, no blackheads, no sebum, just beautiful skin. Then they revamped the range and everything was shit.

unlikelywitch · 02/01/2025 01:09

I’ve never been able to find a mascara as good as L’Oréal define a lash(?) in the green tube. Their lumi magique primer was incredible as well.

There was also a perfume in the 00s I remember my older cousins wearing that smelled like parma violets but I can’t remember the name of it for the life of me! I actually bought Guerlain Insolence thinking it would be similar vibe but the perfume I remember was much sweeter.

I wonder if this perfume is the original Paris by ysl, I used to love that I seem to remember it being like palma violets! Probably make me feel sick now!

Mary46 · 02/01/2025 14:28

Loved dewberry too and fuzzy peach😀

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 02/01/2025 14:29

I've purposely not read any of the thread yet; I know I will feel real pangs when I do because we won't have those things again but here's mine:

Max Factor's 'Geminesse', not the tinkered with rubbish remake
M&S tin of four blushers... I would dearly love to have those again <sob>

Off to read thread now.

TerrazzoChips · 02/01/2025 14:31

Oh so many. Honorable mentions to

  • the Madeline lash stiletto mascara in a black or red square tube like a stiletto heel
  • miss dior Cherie l’eau or eau fraiche which was a pale green colour and a lovely fresh scent c.2009
  • Chanel cushion foundation and an almost oil based L’Oréal one which was a dupe of an Armani one. You only needed the tiniest drop in about 2013
ImWearingPantaloons · 02/01/2025 14:37

Oh god so many. I'm afraid if I start this I may be unable to stop....

Sunsilk Du Parfum
Creme Silk hair conditioner.
Boots Natural collection shower gel and body cream - Sunflower and Daisy Chain
Body Shop ice blue shampoo, protein cream rinse, passion fruit cleansing gel, grapefruit face wash (with bits of oatmeal in it), coconut shampoo, banana conditioner.
Calyx prescriptives
Ultimata II glowtion
Tigi Shine Junkie
Deci Dela by Nina Ricci

That's just off the top of my head...

Fluffy24 · 02/01/2025 14:37

Tribe perfume.
Boots mango bath oil.
A two-tone blue and green bath oil made by I -can't-remember, it came in a opaque glass bottle.
Boots marshmallow lip balm.

In fact, any of the Boots Natural Collection gift sets!

BridgetRandomfuck · 02/01/2025 14:38

Was anyone a member of Les Club de Createurs de Beaute? Mail order catalogue of French beauty products, they did Agnes b makeup which I loved and used to feel tres sophisticated with all the sleek packaging. They were quite generous with the free gifts as well. They stopped supplying the UK in about 2003, I still miss it…

Superdrug own brand wash in colour shampoo , think it cost 99p but made my hair the best colour, like my hair but better.
Just thought of something else, Body Shop carrot cream, it had such a lovely smell and texture , my mum used to use it .

Edited

Superdrug still sell that, though it costs about £2.50ish a bottle, which does about 10 shampoos. Lots of shades.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 02/01/2025 03:00

Miss selfridge makeup, I had a gorgeous pinky brown lipstick from there once and I've never been able to find a shade like it since.

It was called 'Parisienne Pink' wasn't it? It was the best shade 😍

menopausalfart · 02/01/2025 14:42

I wish I could remember the name. There was an apple smelling soap in the 70s that was divine.

Randomontheinternet25 · 02/01/2025 14:47

@FadedRed thanks I'll go look next time I'm near a superdrug :)

IDontHateRainbows · 02/01/2025 14:50

I loved the little face cases by Urban decay. They were tiny palettes with 4 Eyeshadow and I think a couple of lippies or glosses. Loved getting it out in public!

FadedRed · 02/01/2025 14:58
