For me, a gorgeous metallic bronze shadow and liner from Miss Selfridge. I think it was called Iron Lady?

Clinique City Block - the gold one that had a slight sheen to it. LOVED it.

Also a Dior rinse-off cleanser that came in a pale pink bottle. Can't remember the name, but it was lovely.

And Laura Biagiotti Venezia!

Anyone else?

I don't miss City Block as such but often think about it. It was quite an innovative product for the time - daily sunblock was not commonly used and I remember people looking at me a bit bemused whenever I said I used it.

FirstOfTheFirst · 02/01/2025 06:38

To add my own - Cliniques Glossier mascara. It was available right up until a couple of years ago and I loved it. It just added a tiny amount of thin, glossy, understated oomph to your lashes. Nothing dramatic. It was perfect for me.

Ananya perfume from The Body Shop
Impulse body spray - Free Spirit

Fedupwithneighbours · 02/01/2025 06:57

TheYearOfSmallThings · 02/01/2025 00:54

Prescriptives Real Camelia foundation

Cacharel Eau d'Eden

Paco Rabane XS Pour Elle

Bobbi Brown Rosy Lip Sheer

Urban Decay Asphyxia eyeshadow

and so many more!

If you miss eau d’Eden, Floris Fleur is the best alternative I have found. I tried the original Eden and it was too heavy but the Floris is lovely!

Fedupwithneighbours · 02/01/2025 07:00

Another vote for Clinique naturally glossy mascara and city block original!

Britpopbaby · 02/01/2025 07:33

Tribe perfume
Lou Lou Blue perfune. I never had the chance to own a bottle and I wouldn’t quite like to.

Nitgel · 02/01/2025 07:38

I miss Ruby and millie make up too. Lovely colours and brushes. Also.miss Miners 80s make up.and Mary Quant 80s range. Plus body shop passion fruit cleanser.

Blue corn scrub mask by Body Shop.

Lovemybunnies · 02/01/2025 07:40

Clinique gentle light foundation and powder. Acqua di gio perfume.

Blue corn scrub mask by Body Shop.

God yes! So good.

Urban Decay lipsticks and eyeshadows before they twatted about becoming vegan and whatnot. Especially the Violate lipstick.

The Body Shop makeup when they first launched - great single eyeshadows.

So much is listed above that I miss, but especially the Vidal Sassoon shampoos.

Ananya perfume from The Body Shop
Impulse body spray - Free Spirit

Thanks for the memory of Impulse. There was one called Zen in an aerosol that was lots of shades of green.

The Spice Girls impulse was brilliant too.

I remember always taking a bottle of something from Impulse to spray after PE. We always shared and compared our sprays.

What I miss is being able to buy single eyeshadows, and for a reasonable price. Eyeshadow comes mainly in palettes now. I hate palettes, and I don't get it - why would you want to buy eight colours that you don't want just in order to get the two that you do?

Also, block eyeliner. You can get everything else - pens, gels, liquids, but not a simple, basic block of the stuff.

Powder compacts are hard to get hold of, too - pressed powder in a compact with a mirror. There is loads of pressed powder, but it tends not to be in a compact and it doesn't have a mirror. I had to get my last one on Amazon, from a brand I'd never heard of, because I couldn't find one in the shops.

Laura Mercier does a block liner…

Sun Moon Stars by Karl Lagerfeld. God I loved that perfume so much, it suited me so well. I cannot find anything that comes close. There is a "new" version of it been brought out but it's nothing like the OG.

Ananya from The Body Shop. Hell just everything from The Body Shop in the 90's. I loved collecting the little animal soaps ❤️ put them in my knicker drawer and it always smelled lush!

Serenity45 · 02/01/2025 13:36

XS Pour Elle by Paco Rabanne - LOVED it

Another vote for Clinique City Block

A Karen Millen pale nude/ pinky lip gloss that wasn't too sticky or glossy and was the perfect shade never to be found again

Ruby and Millie make up brushes especially the eyeshadow ones. I still have one going strong!

Loreal Lash Architect mascara - thickening and lengthening without clumping and stayed on really well

Can't remember it's name, but a Rimmel tinted moisturiser / bronzer with really light coverage that looked great, especially in summer

Lancome Flash Bronzer fake tan for face - never found anything better

Latenightreader · 02/01/2025 13:42

Organic shampoo and conditioner
Body Shop green olive shower gel (c2000 - later versions were not the same)
Accessorise dangly earrings from the late 90s - layers of stars/discs, some hollow, some flat. I dream of finding some in charity shops as I am down to a single pair.

overthinkersanonnymus · 02/01/2025 13:43

Michael kors glam jasmine perfume - although I've now got the Valentino Donna one which is similar

LeaveALittleNote · 02/01/2025 13:45

Body Shop products, and anything dewberry.

Tribe perfume.

Natrel Plus deodorant.

Miss Selfridge makeup, but more for the nice packaging than anything else.

overthinkersanonnymus · 02/01/2025 13:46

Oh and Vaseline deodorant that was a cream. It smelled so nice and I was bone dry all day

CoverMySoul · 02/01/2025 13:48

Another fragrance one, and tbh the only Body Shop perfume I ever really loved - Midnight Bakula

pottypotamus · 02/01/2025 13:49

Another one for Stella by Stella McCartney. Was divine. Still have a bottle somewhere.

Also Promesse by Cacharel. Anyone remember this one? It was a pink bottle.

Habbyhadno · 02/01/2025 13:52

The Gap fragrances from the 90s in the silver dispensers. Dream, Grass, Om - literally have spent years looking for similar scents.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 02/01/2025 13:53

A facial tanning gel.that you washed off by Bourjois.

Gio by Armani perfume

PrincessHoneysuckle · 02/01/2025 13:55

Britpopbaby · 02/01/2025 07:33

Tribe perfume
Lou Lou Blue perfune. I never had the chance to own a bottle and I wouldn’t quite like to.

Think you can still get Tribe

ihatecoffee · 02/01/2025 13:55

A Clinique lipstick called raspberry crush

TheCourseOfTheRiverChanged · 02/01/2025 14:00

Magic Silver White
and

Also, lovely to be reminded of The Body Shop's Ananya fragrance! That was the first perfume I ever wore.
