For me, a gorgeous metallic bronze shadow and liner from Miss Selfridge. I think it was called Iron Lady?

Clinique City Block - the gold one that had a slight sheen to it. LOVED it.

Also a Dior rinse-off cleanser that came in a pale pink bottle. Can't remember the name, but it was lovely.

And Laura Biagiotti Venezia!

Anyone else?

I’ve never been able to find a mascara as good as L’Oréal define a lash(?) in the green tube. Their lumi magique primer was incredible as well.

There was also a perfume in the 00s I remember my older cousins wearing that smelled like parma violets but I can’t remember the name of it for the life of me! I actually bought Guerlain Insolence thinking it would be similar vibe but the perfume I remember was much sweeter.

Revlon Flex shampoo. That really delivered the full monty - shine, bounce, volume, gorgeous smell. I miss it.

Gliss Corimist shine spray.

And yes, Venezia. Gorgeous.

Revlon flex is back

Bloody Olay daily facials!! Why they can't make them biodegradable I'll never know, but I'm not spending like £15 on them going forward!

Ilovemyshed · 02/01/2025 01:31

What I miss is being able to buy single eyeshadows, and for a reasonable price. Eyeshadow comes mainly in palettes now. I hate palettes, and I don't get it - why would you want to buy eight colours that you don't want just in order to get the two that you do?

Also, block eyeliner. You can get everything else - pens, gels, liquids, but not a simple, basic block of the stuff.

Powder compacts are hard to get hold of, too - pressed powder in a compact with a mirror. There is loads of pressed powder, but it tends not to be in a compact and it doesn't have a mirror. I had to get my last one on Amazon, from a brand I'd never heard of, because I couldn't find one in the shops.

There's a few cake eyeliners

uk.kryolan.com/?ref=cookie_notice&destination=/product/cake-eye-liner

Mac and nars do singles and a few indie brands
Kiko and NYX probably the best value

Time40 · 02/01/2025 02:09

I know MAC do singles ... but they're about £15! I mean ... £15 for an eyeshadow!! I miss the days when most of the eyeshadows were single, and you could get something nice - and cheap - from Rimmel and 17, etc.

Tautumnal · 02/01/2025 02:12

Charles Worthington shampoo and conditioner in pink pointy oval bottles. They smelled amazing and were perfect for my hair. There was a Mark Hill brown one too that I loved. Never been able to replicate the smell or quality of either.

WellsAndThistles · 02/01/2025 02:16

(Edit just realised this is style and beauty 🤣)

Organics Shampoo/conditioner

Timotei shampoo (the original with rapunzel blond hair being flicked around)

L'Oréal hair colour mousse (in plum)

Ski Yogurt drink

Plastic collectibles in McDonalds

Salt and Vinegar Dairylea Dunkers

Walkers tear and share salt and vinegar crisps

Nature/Natural/Natura brand (?) deodorant that was a clear gel (similar to Gillette gel deodorant for men)

Nescafe Gold Blend before they ruined it with undisolvable floaters

Diet coke man

Milk tray man

If you want budget, they're not singles but the elf bite size are incredible for the price. They're 4 in a palette for £4 I bought most of them

CoverMySoul · 02/01/2025 02:32

I've just discovered Kiko Milano - really impressed with their products so far.

Miss selfridge makeup, I had a gorgeous pinky brown lipstick from there once and I've never been able to find a shade like it since.

SprinkleOfSunak · 02/01/2025 04:35

Tobacco flower products by The Bofyy Shop.

Hair mascara - especially the Christian Dior one. I’m shocked these haven’t come into fashion again what with all the noughties resurgence in fashion.

Those little products you could kind of pick and mix in Boots in the 90’s to throw in your bath - bath pearls I think they were called. They came in all manner of fragrances, colours and shapes.
