Forgot to add
i also had the missing penny issue last year-quickly resolved but very odd !

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/01/2025 14:56

@IlovePond I've asked for a replacement.

@Poplinskirt yes, quickly resolved - but it shouldn't happen in the first place, I do wonder how many people don't worry as 'it's only a penny'.

Countmeout · 07/01/2025 15:15

My last sale parcel arrived in a box amazingly. The sun and moon shirt. It is a lovely weight and I like the style but the colour does nothing for me so back it goes. It looks darker than on my screen.

I‘m glad you are sorted @Theteapotsbrokenspout .

Which dress do you mean @SaffyRosie ?

So far up to date with refunds and no missing penny. Very odd how they manage to do that. Nothing is ever 99p.

VivienneDelacroix · 07/01/2025 15:44

The 1p anomaly sounds like a racket to me. That's really bad practice.

@Stravaig I'm sorry about your eBay issue. I still haven't put my items up for sale yet, and this is exactly why. It's so risky as a seller, as eBay always side with the buyer and there's nothing you can do. I've never used Vinted, but I hear some horror stories there too.

I was tempted by the block printing set @IlovePond but didn't get it, and am now on a no-buying year! I'm also really tempted by the organic denim v-neck pinafore in black, but will console myself with the indigo version I bought in last year's sale, which I am wearing today with an M&S heatgen top, TBC scarf, sheepskin slippers, and Black and Beech gloves. (No snow here, but my house is like an ice box - I was almost tempted to go into the office to get warm, but decided I prefer being cold to talking to people!).

Nice pinafore @VivienneDelacroix !

Love seeing Outfit of the Day @VivienneDelacroix and I love that pinafore.Sadly didn’t work on me as straps fell down , I console myself with a different style pinafore.
Also in an icy house wearing 3 jumpers currently !

Stoic123 · 07/01/2025 17:49

@IlovePond - £21 - that is restrained. I am running under £100 for this sale, which is probably a record for me too.

I do have a mild yearning for the Lyocell dress in Scarab (which was still in stock in my size when I first spotted) but I have plenty of dresses I don't wear enough as it is.

IlovePond · 07/01/2025 17:53

I know what you mean @Stoic123 - I have stuff I have never worn - I must stop buying. I can’t take any credit, though - basically there’s been nothing in the sale to tempt me. (Apart from the lovely dry clean only velvet throws which I will not buy even at the slightly reduced price and which have since disappeared from the sale!)

OP posts:
ScottishMouse · 07/01/2025 18:02

My sale spend is £274, which is definitely not £21 @IlovePond , but is relatively restrained I think. Onyx stripe dress, grey alpaca tank & two pairs of Falke socks.

IlovePond · 07/01/2025 18:07

That dress is nice @ScottishMouse!

OP posts:
AmethystMoonShine · 07/01/2025 18:22

I'm envious of those of you that have been more restrained...I thought I had too until your talk of sale spending prompted me to add mine up. To be fair it's less than last year and I have returned quite a bit...

Keeping so far:
Navy babbi slippers
Long Sleeve stripe top
Indigo slim leg trousers
Onyx dress
Blue crinkle dress
Needlecord bag
Couple of Christmas garlands

Total £542 eek!!!!

Still to arrive:
Note books (for gifts) - does that count?
Minako cotton linen trousers

Might think about trying to aim for a low spend year after this.....only replacing essentials as I go if needed. I really don't need more summer clothing, I realised this when packing it away this year and realising a lot wasn't worn or just once. Might embark on a Vinted selling stint when I unpack the summer clothes around May. I honestly have enough summer dresses to last me years and not really the lifestyle that requires so many. Must get better at keeping actual daily life in mind when I press buy!

Primrosespaw · 07/01/2025 18:26

I have been more restrained than usual, mostly because the sale has been a bit bland.
my keeps are…
golden olive silk shirt
pin stripe blue and white boatneck top
Blackhorse Lane denim jacket
Obsidian velvet dress which has to be taken up
columbian clay cooking pot
alpaca/wool stripe jumper.
gaps are very much filled now so I need to go low buy for the rest of the year.

Stravaig · 07/01/2025 18:46

@VivienneDelacroix Thank you. I've not tried Vinted either. I'm ending my eBay listings that don't have much interest, and holding off uploading the new ones for now. Leaving the more watched ones open, but it suddenly feels risky rather than optimistic.

That pinafore dress flows so beautifully on you - I didn't realise it had such a lovely shape and proportions from the official photos!

Stravaig · 07/01/2025 18:59

@Theteapotsbrokenspout Possibly multiple options available in a selector, which defaults to x.99, as that is popular in other businesses which use the same CS/fulfillment centre?

However, Toast swore to me that they had not outsourced anything when I asked a few years ago. (Not sure I believe them). So maybe x.99 is the default of a standard software package which Toast uses?

I do like a mundane but bizarre mystery, although more so when it's solved.

TosstTastic · 07/01/2025 19:01

Tell me about the golden olive silk shirt @Primrosespaw one has just been dispatched to me.
Have dragged out my entire wardrobe today. Two Gia shirts are being returned because although a great fit they literally only work with one thing rather than lots. Probably not a great sign.
I need a replacement for a couple of Cos shirts that have seen a lot of use but, like me in bright sunlight, are showing their age.

faustina · 07/01/2025 20:15

@Stravaig - hope you manage to solve your Ebay nasty person soon and without too much more hassle. It's happened to me before, but rarely, and with one exception I've found Ebay to be quite helpful actually - so long as you accept their suggestion to get the item sent back to you, then if they've done something to it you just say so and they don't get refunded. It is upsetting out of all proportion to the actual event. I've been using Vinted much more recently, both for selling and buying (am having a ruthless wardrobe cull) and I find it a much easier process than Ebay, so long as you're careful and ask the right questions, check photos etc

My sale keeps so far: the beautiful olive wood pinch pots, the minako trousers - that's it! I'm sending back the linen cotton canvas trousers one day late - hope they will be ok with that? I've never done it before, and I'm STILL waiting for my 2nd January order to be delivered (blue cotton linen canvas jacket) and am hoping there will be a restock of the cotton linen twill shirt in the same fabric as the minako trousers. I wish they'd restock at the same time of day - it seems very random!

One more keep is the chestnut bag from Kate Sheridan which is beautiful - and I am waiting for a pair of trousers from the Cos sale which always seems to ru at a snail's pace

ScottishMouse · 07/01/2025 20:27

I am waiting for something from Cos too @faustina. It was ordered before Christmas and looks like it might finally arrive in the next day or two. Sooooo sloooooow.

faustina · 07/01/2025 20:30

@ScottishMouse - they are always incredibly slow aren't they! I don't think I've ever placed an order without receiving a follow up apology for the slowness. At least it's always free delivery if you have an account

PrincessofWells · 07/01/2025 20:32

I use Vinted to buy and sell. I've had one problem where I refunded a purchaser because I had missed a damaged hem, and another as a purchaser where the trousers were a 12L but they hadn't said they were long in the ad and they accepted them as a return and refunded me.

I am very careful buying only from 5 star reviewed sellers.

Stoic123 · 08/01/2025 07:33

Morning all. Another big restock overnight. Did someone on here want the heavy cotton tee in navy or was I imagining that?

Stoic123 · 08/01/2025 09:01

Also got the 1p glitch here- 3 items refunded and total amount refunded was short by 3p.

Refund related to earlier parcel was fine so it is sporadic.

OrangeyLemon · 08/01/2025 09:19

I woke up in the night due to banging and shouting in the neighbouring hotel room and bought the onyx dress in two sizes as I just couldn’t decide which would be best. I got a warning that I had an item in two sizes in my basket and was asked to determine my size via tru fit or whatever it’s called. I don’t find that nearly as helpful as the reviews from other purchasers. I ended up buying the harlequin dress in a 6 last summer (I’m a high street 10) with the help of the reviews and that’s what looked best to me. I felt told off and both guilty and irritated!
Reading that someone wore it with the alpaca tank is giving me itchy fingers..

triggers34 · 08/01/2025 09:36

@OrangeyLemon same , well not the headache but I've ordered the Alix seersucker trousers , mixed reviews so we'll see . And after that I probably need to try low/no buy .

@VivienneDelacroix gorgeous pinafore it really suits you .

In the spirit of sharing pictures today Im wearing the graphic cashmere mix dress with lots of layers .

Toasties - still loving the knitwear and the chat!
ScottishMouse · 08/01/2025 09:49

Gorgeous @triggers34. And cosy too.

hicat · 08/01/2025 10:17

Ooh @triggers34 it looks great. I'd love the trouser of that fabric but will have to bide my time credit card wise. I'd tabbed them for the sale but no luck.
