* Please avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance. * (Edited at request of the OP by MNHQ)

It is one sleep away! We’ve all been very patient, since Liberty London revealed their advent calendar in June this year.

Reveals from 7am GMT each morning please. This is to harmonise discussion/shift work/different time zones.

The link to how to use this doesn't seem to work. Could someone please be honest before I use it- is it tacky and sticky? I'm not a fan of gloss for that reason. Are you meant to wear it on its own or on top of lipstick and what exactly is it supposed to do?!
Thank you x

BakeOffRewatch · 21/12/2024 15:49

Thank you @Wherethewildthingsfart and @Peridot1

I'm taking my time to open it too @Pollydollydoodle . The Space NK reviews are good, people disappointed that it doesn’t work as a tingling plumper which is what I don’t like, others calling it a serum which is exactly the kind of thing I would be interested in. www.spacenk.com/uk/skincare/lipcare/lip-balm/the-lip-volumizer-MUK200041239.html People saying it’s a balm. The link from the “What’s inside” Liberty page doesn’t work but they do have this product in Sheer Coral www.libertylondon.com/uk/the-lip-volumiser-7ml-R570900006.html

What colour is the one in the advent calendar meant to be? I can’t see a colour mentioned on the packaging and the only full price ones for sale have a colour name. I am wondering if this is near expiry stock and that’s why the direct link doesn’t work. I can only see the exact packaging for £39 here huxleylondon.co.uk/products/la-mer-lip-volumiser-7ml

This Really Ree post says the original “Ultra Sheer” came out in 2019 and the four new shades were released this year. https://reallyree.com/la-mer-lip-volumizer-lip-gloss-review/ So makes sense there’d be no colour name on it if produced before this year.

I just checked the batch code, mine says E32 on the bottom of the box manufactured in March 2022 and the website I used says “general shelf life 36 months”.

Sorry I’m a real beauty cynic!

It’s colour free I’d say. Possibly a very very very slight pale pink tint? Goes on like a gloss and looks nice I think. Feels a little tingly a bit like Blisteze really! Leaves a slight sheen.

I like it. But I like a lip gloss.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 21/12/2024 16:37

Really chuffed with the lip gloss. I've really enjoyed the calendar so far. Sad we only have a few days to go.

Waffles21 · 21/12/2024 17:02

Feeling a bit under the weather today so had a bath to warm up and used the bath oil
we got earlier in the calendar- love it- a little goes a long way!
re the La Mer, I didn’t get any irritation, it felt like a very moisturising non sticky lip gloss. Didn’t notice any lip pumping! But more interested in moisturising qualities, and it felt lovely. Will look great by itself or with lipstick I think.

nearly61 · 21/12/2024 17:41

@BakeOffRewatch I'm in the same boat with this- I would like a moisturising lip product with no tingle and no stickiness but I'm pretty sure this will just be a hair catching lip gloss! Arg -to open or not...first world problems for sure but it's still sitting there looking pretty in it's sealed package while I decide.
Thank you to anyone that kindly share's their thoughts on it once they've tried it.
On another note @BakeOffRewatch I loved that rose serum and if you still have it and want to swap I could send you my eye cream from a couple of days back (not the REN the other one) if interested?

mynameiscalypso · 21/12/2024 17:50

I wouldn't describe it as a proper gloss really - definitely not a hair catcher. Also not tingly. I have quite dry lips normally and they've felt nice today since I tried it earlier but the effect is quite subtle. It's nice but I don't think I'd pay £72 for it!

Waffles21 · 21/12/2024 17:50

Completely agree @mynameiscalypso you described it much better than me 🤣

nearly61 · 21/12/2024 18:37

thank you @mynameiscalypso and @Waffles21 I might give it go then! I'm just wary of trying something and then not using anymore as it's hopeless for me but that would really only happen if it was sticky at all as my hair just seems to migrate immediately to my lips! This sounds far more hopeful thank you

BakeOffRewatch · 21/12/2024 18:43

Is no one else bothered about receiving a supposedly pricey item that has a shelf life until March 2025? Just three months? This was one of the headline items in the AC and makes me feel like I should have checked the expiry date on all the products. Happy to be told I’m being pernickety!

@nearly61 there is usually an annual swap thread, there’s nothing I would want to swap for inside the Liberty AC, sorry. I don’t know who starts it or how it comes about - maybe ask in the waifs and strays? There’s loads for sale on Vinted too if you want to stock up. I’ve bought some items I coveted off Waifs and Strays on there inside Vogue and Harrods and am very happy - though I haven’t posted gloating about bargains on there!

@BakeOffRewatch i hadn’t clocked the expiry date. I’ve emailed manufacturers before to check the online checkers are right and might do that with this- not impressive if that’s what Liberty have done

AnneShirleysNewDress · 21/12/2024 20:03

I have a92 on mine @BakeOffRewatch. Just off to check what that means in terms of shelf life.

Waffles21 · 21/12/2024 20:49

Hi, how do you check the expiry date please? It wasn’t something I’d even considered, I’d assumed ( naively?) that they’d all be products with long expiry dates. Not good at all if it’s March

BakeOffRewatch · 21/12/2024 21:00

I google “check cosmetic expiry date” and pick something from the results, might check two websites. Don’t worry @Waffles21 , it’s not something I would think to do either but I went down a rabbit hole wondering why there was no colour name on it. I would expect at least a year of “general shelf life” especially in something like this that advertises active ingredients as a serum. But beyond that, I’d expect the newest item being marketed - I.e. either it labelled as ultra sheer or one of the colours.

I've emailed La Mer and asked re my batch code which was CA2, so different to yours mentioned above. If I get any response I'll let you know! If you want to email too I used the address from their chat on the site at [email protected]

AnneShirleysNewDress · 21/12/2024 22:08

According to cosmetic calculator mine has 9 months left.

Waffles21 · 21/12/2024 22:08

Hi @nearly61 mine has the same code and having looked on a few sites, I can’t find any info. Really hoping ( and assuming!) all ok but if you could share their reply I’d appreciate it, thanks!

countdowntonap · 21/12/2024 22:27

My La Mer was produced October 2022, so I have some time to use it. Although wasn’t planning on opening it straight away.

BlueLurker · 22/12/2024 02:40

Ok I’ve been lurking on and off all month, time to finally join in the fun before it’s all over…

Highlights so far for me are the perfumes - especially the Ex Nihilo, which is definitely a new fave. Also love the Sam McKnight hair mask and always happy for a top-up… the first time I got that in a calendar I bought it full size the second I got out of the shower! Looking forward to trying the rose serum in the spring.

Lowlights are today’s La Mer and the lipstick from last week. I’m iffy about makeup generally and while I’ll try some stuff, in general wear very little and never anything on lips. Interesting to see there’s usually a swapsies thread, will check it out as they’ll definitely go unused.

Overall I’m happy with Liberty AC, this is Y3 for me and while I’m swimming in certain products I love trying new things I’d never look for on their own, and do think they get the balance right, at least for me.

Wherethewildthingsfart · 22/12/2024 08:01

Yay a cleanser! Exactly what I had been waiting for Grin

imp2007 · 22/12/2024 08:08

I'm quite low on cleanser so happy with todays!! Like the idea of the meditative using of it - hopefully it will help to combat the festive frazzle 😂 I've been happy with the last few days - liked yesterdays lip gloss using it on its own - I did get a mild tingle but it will be easy to use both on its own and over lipstick going to try today over the Reunion lipstick. Only 3 drawers left I wonder what is in 25 it's a big one!!!!

Peridot1 · 22/12/2024 08:36

Happy with a cleanser and I love a balm. Haven’t heard of the brand before.

Lookwhoseinsideagain · 22/12/2024 08:38

Has anyone else received a totally plain jar, with no name, branding or info printed on it?

nearly61 · 22/12/2024 08:45

Very happy with a new balm cleanser to try -I really love using these and am quite excited to sample a different manufacturer. I have had their miracle oil previously- is an advent or a kit I think- and it was quite pleasant to use, I enjoyed it.
@Waffles21 I got a swift reply from La Mer! It lasts 'at least' three years from manufacture. I've gone back and asked them for the date of manufacture for our batch code so will update if I get a further reply.

Ha, annoyingly the crucial 3 years bit only shows when you click on the image above, apologies for that, bit of a techno luddite here!!
