What kind of person would wear these?

Or what would you think if you saw someone wearing these for work/everyday? Eg with jeans or a mini and black opaques.
Always drawn to t bars but not sure if people will think it looks a bit school-ly or silly for a grown woman! Plus fancy a departure from my usual loafers!

They look like childrens' shoes, but if you like them, that's all that matters

Doggymummar · 26/11/2024 18:32

They look like my kids first shoe

Merrymess · 26/11/2024 18:33

I love them.i'd wear them.

BobbyBiscuits · 26/11/2024 18:34

The first one is quite cute. I could imagine anyone from aged 10 to 90 pulling them off. It's just like a DM with a bit more frivolity. It's giving a bit of 'rebellious' school shoe but with a wide jean it would look alright on most ages.

Pinkissmart · 26/11/2024 18:34

They look like kids shoes. Love them!

StMarie4me · 26/11/2024 18:35

Love the first ones and would wear them at 61. Not keen on the others but am fussy about the shape of a shoe!

Singleandproud · 26/11/2024 18:40

Joanie have some in at the moment, I'm very tempted by the red ones as I had some when. Was six and remember being excited to get them.

They do look like children's shoes though but up to you if that's bothers you

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 26/11/2024 18:42

if this is an adult person wearing them, I’d assume they were the sort of person who was into academia look, probably combined with lots of autumnal shades of corduroy /tweeds.

as they are very “little girl school shoes” look, probably combined with with overlong sleeves over hands look. Or “jolly” knitwear.

LadyKenya · 26/11/2024 18:42

Someone who does not care what people may think of their shoe game! I like the oxblood pair, the most.

I think the ox blood ones are the Joannie. I like them. I could see myself wearing them. I don't like the other 2 , although I'd pick all of them over loafers.

GroovyChick87 · 26/11/2024 19:20

I can imagine they'd have a trendy/ strange haircut, boring clothes with an edgy twist. Looks a bit odd but is able to carry it off.

Justkoko · 26/11/2024 19:22

Divided then, though the school shoe thing is clear. I don't want to look like I'm dressing up as a child, though my style is definitely not sharp fashion. I wouldnt say i am full academia but closer to that than high fashion. You wouldn't catch me in stilettos, just not me. I'm a gazelles and and jeans kind of person. An indie kid on the inside.

Maybe I would always have that thought at the back of my mind and never feel quite 'right' in them.
They are joanie by the way. Lovely leather and seem very comfortable.

I like them ! Where are they from? As I'm wanting to replace a pair I've almost worn out

I wear them to work with tights I'm on my feet all day but sometimes want to feel smarter and wear a dress and comfy leather shoes.

Also in the summer with summer dresses have to have closed toe shoes

benefitstaxcredithelp · 26/11/2024 19:43

A home economics teacher circa 1988.

Only joking… they’re cool in a geek chic way.

JoggyBear · 26/11/2024 19:44

I have several pairs like this

I love them, I've never really cared what anyone else thinks.

Whichoneisthebest · 26/11/2024 19:45

I had these in brown as my school shoes in the 90s. They were lovely but my abiding memory of them were they were awful heavy.

foodtoorder · 26/11/2024 19:49

I see them worn a lot with black opaques and nursing uniforms!
Sorry, not very helpful but these are a staple in nhs area that I work.

JiminaSlump · 26/11/2024 19:52

Er <awkwardly raises hand>

I own these and I love them. They're really comfortable and practical and I wear them a lot, especially in winter as they do especially well with thick socks.

I normally wear them with midi dresses/skirts and padded socks with lettuce frill socks on top (the sizes run big, but it keeps my feet warm).

weareallcats · 26/11/2024 20:00

I think they are very cool - as someone else said, Joanie also have some very nice ones. They don’t suit me sadly. If they did I would wear them with opaque tights and a cord pinafore, so yes, quite primary school in style.

I'd wear them OP...I love something a bit different from 'the norm' , what you described wearing them with sounds perfect! Go for it!!! Get a pair and try them on if u feel comfortable......sod society's opinion

weareallcats · 26/11/2024 20:02

Oh! They are the Joanie ones!

I have the t bar shoes with a heel in two colours - also resemble a school shoe.

I'd think they were trying too hard to be 'different!' and 'individual!' and 'young-at-heart!' and 'fun!' and 'quirky!' and avoid like the plaque Grin

I'm also happy to admit that that may well be my own huge loss Smile.

Luckingfovely · 26/11/2024 20:22

Plague, obviously...
