What kind of person would wear these?

Or what would you think if you saw someone wearing these for work/everyday? Eg with jeans or a mini and black opaques.
Always drawn to t bars but not sure if people will think it looks a bit school-ly or silly for a grown woman! Plus fancy a departure from my usual loafers!

I clicked on the Joanie links upthread. I’ll undoubtedly be spammed and regret it.

Very interesting styling. They seem to have men’s legs modelling the shoes. Nothing wrong with that, blah blah. But it’s a tad unusual.

It's just the Joanie site, you'll no more get scammed than I did when I posted the links.

I've actually now bought the orange/rust cut out ones as an early Christmas present to myself as they're on sale at the moment.

I work in an industry where I need to evoke quick trust alongside credibility, and the way I dress helps. It gives an easy opportunity to start a conversation and helps me to quickly create a psychologically safe space in a short time. In short, I need to demonstrate I know my stuff without being intimidating. Quirkiness helps.

Life's too short to wear boring clothes. You should dress to show who you are. As the gorgeous Adam Ant once said many years ago, ridicule is nothing to be scared of! Be brave enough to be your authentic selves!

Time40 · 27/11/2024 20:44

It wasn't your opinion about the shoes. It was what you think about people who wear them

Shorthand. The question was "What kind of person would wear these" I answered the question - with a bloody opinion for God's sake! Do you make a habit of picking stupid and totally pointless fights with strangers on the internet? (Don't answer that: I don't want to hear another word from you.)

itsgettingweird · 27/11/2024 20:50

I love them - especially the red ones.

I had some just like that from Clark's when I was about 8 and wish I could pull them off now.

If I had the figure I'd wear the red ones with tights, pinafore dress and big fluffy fleece.

mewkins · 27/11/2024 20:58

I have the first ones. I wear with dresses and skirts. I do quite like jolly knitwear 😆

You can wear whatever shoes you want. Nothing to do with your figure. Do please let yourself have shoes that you like.

Bloom15 · 27/11/2024 22:16

Not me - other than that don't care

clareykb · 27/11/2024 22:19

I own the dm ones.. I wear them with cord mini, polo neck or cord pinafore for work. I get lots of complements but mainly from teachers at schools I go in to so there you go

pooptastic · 26/11/2024 20:28

I wear these as a compromise 😀 and love them!

Where are these from?! I love them

pooptastic · 27/11/2024 22:27

The fringed shoes are from Clarks, I have been wearing them alot this winter.

Moonpieface · 27/11/2024 22:32

I own the DM pair, in vegan fake leather. They are really comfortable and I'm sad they've stopped making the vegan version as I'd like to replace them when they wear out.

As for what kind of person would wear them, well I'm a late 40s TV producer. I tend not to wear them with short skirts and dresses to avoid the overgrown kiddy look and usually wear with trousers or longer skirts instead of trainers.

I love mine and will miss them when they eventually wear out.

alloutofcareunits · 27/11/2024 23:10

I have literally just taken off the DM pair in your pictures. I'm 57, been to see a folk/rock artist with DH and friends and I wore them with opaque tights and a 1960's style patterned orange needle cord knee length dress I made. So that type of person 😂

botchartistsunited · 27/11/2024 23:48

I have the double buckle DM's (first pic)
In both black and brown, yes exactly the same, two colour's!
I'm a mid 50's Assistant Headteacher

Sounds amazing! I wish I could make clothes - I’d love to be able to make all the items that live in my head a reality!

Also interested to hear who you went to see!

Normallynumb · 28/11/2024 12:53

I love and would wear the first pair
Sounds like they would suit your style
I'm almost 60

DecayingRelic · 28/11/2024 12:57

They are my school shoes

I started to teach myself last year. Honestly, I’m amazed how far I’ve come. I’d highly recommend giving it a try if you can afford to treat yourself to a basic machine.

TheOnlyMooncat · 28/11/2024 17:33

I bought the oxblood ones from Joanie last week. I was telling my friend in work about my lovely new shoes and when she asked to see them I said 'you'll hate them, they're ugly' 😂
I love them though, which is what matters.

alloutofcareunits · 28/11/2024 18:39

@mewkins Eleanor McEvoy, she was very entertaining

alloutofcareunits · 28/11/2024 18:40

Fabulous!

I have never heard of Eleanor McEvoy, but I am certain I will like her based on your shoe and dress choices! Off to Spotify I go!

I do actually have someone who can teach me some stuff too (if I can convince her…). I fear not being good at things, which I definitely need to get over!

Oh me too. But that fear can be paralysing.

If I can learn how to make a couple of things, anyone can.

Love it. The neckline is gorgeous.

A TA who walks around with a travel mug with herbal tea in it and the tag hanging over the side. She has a sensible bob and wears cardigans.
