Yes, @PeonyBlush10 - I think it may be @clowniform I am thinking of - whoever it was she was an expert dressmaker!

Countmeout · 15/12/2024 08:24

Just catching up.

Thanks for the picture @Theteapotsbrokenspout . Nice shirt. Like@faustina I was hoping it might double as a light jacket and would be straight along the hem.

Coming home in the airport a day or so ago, saw a lady wearing what I initially thought was a Franca dress but now think maybe Freya - she had the poncho in grey over it. It looked really well. Very cosy. Quite tempting.

Has anyone seen this jacket/coat . Is it in store yet? The colour looks lovely.

I haven’t seen it @Countmeout. I have spied a few things online that look like they are coming in the next drop perhaps - there’s a shirt in that same colour that looks good.

Netcam · 16/12/2024 07:37

@Countmeout, beautiful colour, I agree.

OftenOrange · 16/12/2024 11:52

Daily maildrop from Toast today features a selection of pieces chosen ‘just for me’
I wouldn’t say no to a few of them…

Exactly how personalised is it, wondering if everyone gets the same ?

Stravaig · 16/12/2024 12:32

My 'Chosen For You' contains nothing I want or have in my Wishlist! Except one jumper where I only like the other colourway. So not personalised for me.

I've wondered if it's things with lots left in stock, so benefit a wee push?

Last time I noticed this email, Kindred-only access to a sale started later the same day, which was grump-inducing timing. Sorry to get hopes up :)

Bailiwitch · 16/12/2024 12:32

Your blue shirt looks splendid, @Theteapotsbrokenspout - but as it’s quite thick material I would be concerned about the likelihood of it shrinking on the first wash. Which might have prompted me to size up just in case.

I have given up obsessively checking for a rogue sale in fear of seeing my coat at half price. I’ve worn it so much in the last few weeks and am enjoying the feeling of being ‘well dressed’ again (after a previous outerwear mistake). Ideally I would take it to a very good tailor / alterations place to have the buttons and button holes moved to suit my proportions better - but I can’t do without it right now. It may well have fitted more perfectly if they’d made a women’s version - but the shop assistant I spoke to before ordering online opined that they used mixed fibres for the women’s coats to make them lighter and softer. I guess that’s true - though my lightest and daintiest coat is double sided cashmere. But I’m loving the weight and protectiveness (?) of this version. (It’s the men’s check wool overcoat.)

ScottishMouse · 16/12/2024 13:03

I concur, nothing in my ‘chosen for you’ selection that I am even vaguely interested in.

A shop assistant told me last week that the sale starts Boxing Day. But looking at the last couple of years, I got early access emails late afternoon on Christmas Eve. Maybe 26th for non-kindred then.

I re-ordered the white shirt with the dodgy collar on Friday morning but no sign of a dispatch email yet, so it looks like things are running a bit slow on the run up.

MiracleToast · 16/12/2024 15:21

@Bailiwitch what size did you get and what are your proportions if you don’t mind sharing? This is the mens coat that I have been looking at!

OrangeyLemon · 16/12/2024 16:06

I bought something on the 23rd last year, when I wasn’t Kindred, so hoping for 22nd this year 🤞 I so want to treat myself with a Toast bargain or two or three!

IlovePond · 16/12/2024 16:24

I ordered sale items Friday 22/12 last year as a Kindred member with early access. (Toast started the sale as soon as the last posting date for Xmas had gone.)

Having just looked at my order history, however, I really shouldn’t be buying anything, (regardless of when the sale starts 🙀)

ScottishMouse · 16/12/2024 16:27

Oh this is interesting @IlovePond. Maybe the emails I was looking at from the 24th were actually non-kindred sale starts? Or perhaps we found a way in earlier? Because yes, when I look at my account I have an order on the 22nd too.

IlovePond · 16/12/2024 16:34

I think someone found an early way in @ScottishMouse and then, later that day, Kindred members could get access it via putting Sale in the search box. I know that I had made a couple of orders before I even got the sale email 🙀

ScottishMouse · 16/12/2024 17:00

Ah yes @IlovePond , it’s all coming back to me now!

Bailiwitch · 16/12/2024 17:07

@MiracleToast I’m around 5’3 and supposedly a size 10. I bought an XS.

I always forget that men’s clothes are less spacious around the hips. And the buttons are in the wrong place. I’m not sure this degree of imperfection would suit everyone! But honestly, I bought it because of the way it felt on me the first time I tried it on. Completely wrapped up and … safe. And it works really well with all my winter clothes.

I’m anticipating that as it wears in it’ll become (even) softer and shape itself to me more and more.

Stoic123 · 16/12/2024 18:11

My first sale order last year was just before 4pm on 22nd - a whole pile of furoshiki table gifts, baubles, crackers, wrapping paper and notebooks! Must stay away from those this year - but I am enjoying them now.

Yes, sale seems to normally starts 2-3 hours after next day delivery cut off point (once they've fulfilled those orders, start loading up). This year Toast has been a bit more unpredictable with sales timings though.

I've just checked my Toast order history (online & store) since the last winter sale ended. Excluding returns: loopback jersey trousers, a blue Garden Bloom bandana, 2x socks, tiered twill dress (summer sale), Riverstone bowl (sale), slate Alix trousers (sale), oak breadboard (sale), 4x breakfast bowls, Carla Murdoch colander, Reworn iKat dress, scoop necked linen dress (Sept sale), a quilt, and 2x alpaca arm warmers. I also bought a couple of gifts.

That list looks 😳 but I have been much less profligate than the previous few years and better at returning what I don't love. I've got a lot of pleasure out of using/wearing what I've bought this year.

ScottishMouse · 16/12/2024 19:09

Lovely purchases @Stoic123 I seem to have ordered more full price pieces this year than previously, but overall I have bought less.

2 x pyjamas (Sale)
2 x quilts (sale)
Robe (reworn)
2 x linen barrel leg trousers - navy & onyx stripe (full price)
Blue marl knit tank (full price)
Blue crinkle check dress (full price)
Kaia cardi (full price)
Black Cleo tee (full price)
2 x wool bandanas - tawny & ember (full price)
Graph check dress (full price)
Indigo Alix trousers (full price)

Eeks, written out like that it looks like so much. But in my defense, I have changed shape a lot in the past year or two so needed to fill quite a few gaps this year. I have worn everything I have bought a lot (apart from the black Cleo tee, that may have been a mistake). Plus I have sold quite a lot of my old things on the fb page. I don’t have very many gaps to fill now, so will try to buy sensibly in the sale (famous last words!).

Snowyowl78 · 16/12/2024 19:13

I seem to have bought loads!

I had a kindred early access email at 7pm on 22nd

Snowyowl78 · 16/12/2024 19:14

Saying that though, in theory couldn’t you get a next day del on the 23rd? It’s not the weekend

Stoic123 · 16/12/2024 19:23

@Snowyowl78 - In theory, you could. Toast has published last mailing for next day delivery before Xmas as Friday 20th midday this year.

If it follows normal pattern (which may not do), then sale could start for Kindred as early as that day...

Snowyowl78 · 16/12/2024 19:28

@Stoic123 aah thats ok then

Netcam · 17/12/2024 08:57

@ScottishMouse, how is the fit of the Kaia cardigan, I was going to try to get one of those if they go on sale. I like the green, yellow and navy so could be flexible about colour options depending on what's on sale (if any).

I'm 5'3, 7 stone 10 but about 34D so sometimes find close fitting tops with buttons don't fit well and gape between the buttons. I don't mind a bit of space underneath for layers, but if it is too loose a cardigan is not really wearable with buttons undone as it doesn't hang well.

I just want to anticipate size if I'm stalking the sale. I was contemplating S or M.

Netcam · 17/12/2024 09:05

@ScottishMouse, looking again it's the verbena colour that appeals most. Which colour do you have, it's hard to tell from the pictures whether it's more green/yellow or beige.

ScottishMouse · 17/12/2024 09:16

@netcam I have the oatmeal type colour. Did you ever try the old round neck neat cardigans? I think the fit is about the same as that. I went for a medium - size 12, busty, short - and I can fit a tshirt, shirt or dress underneath and it works open or closed. It’s not an oversized fit.
So maybe you’d want a S, but please don’t rely on my guess!!
