We still have a few weeks to go but we are up to thread 6.

Will we get any good Black Friday discounts?

@MrsBnow12 You are welcome, I probably should keep off this thread but I already know that Black Friday offers will sucker me in for more spends. I'm sure the advents selling out early willmean a few good deals, but we shall see!

@ElizabethG81 I have messaged you, it's multiple use but only once per person, per household.

If anyone is after an inexpensive but rather useful advent calendar, Sainsbury's are doing a Beauty and Skincare one for £60, but it is £30 for anyone with a Nectar card. Here.

Mass-market stuff like Nivea, Q&A, Cerave, L'Oreal, Tresemme, so not luxury/high end at all, but all useful stuff, quite a few full sizes and a solid bargain for £30.

I stuck one in with my grocery order; I've opened it all, and the bits I don't want will go into the Christmas Stockings for the 3 x kidults in the house. Saving my M&S one (the real treat) for December!

wheresmyshoe · 07/11/2024 18:32

I've just bought this for my mother in law, thank you!

Itsmariahcareydefrostingseason · 07/11/2024 19:08

I got the sainsburys and opened it today! The box looked boring as you can't display it opened so I had no choice, I say that very tongue in cheek. It is true but also I'm not too fussed as I knew the products weren't exciting. The sainsburys as a beauty box is ok but it's a bit bland as an advent calendar. The sizes were much smaller than I imagined but they are great for short trip or gym bag etc. It's fine for £30 but there's no way it would be worth £60

MidnightMeltdown · 07/11/2024 16:15

I noticed that the premium one is available with the same offer, which I think is a bit better, but still not sure whether it's worth £80.

There are a quite a few DODs for me, including the highlighter (does anyone who isn't a Kardashian bother with highlighter?), the black eyeliner and the eyeshadow palette.

Highlighter just makes me look like the tin man from wizard of oz. The only one that has ever worked was an Iconic one which was more of a blusher and more mauvey shimmery tones. That worked with a bit of a tan but it's astonishingly rare I can make it work with the usual bronze or gold coloured ones and especially not in winter.

Londonexhile · 07/11/2024 20:38

If anyone is looking to sell their Ziip I'd be very interested!

diamondsandrose · 07/11/2024 21:27

Dithering over the OK deal.
38 products for 120, 3.15 ish each. Few DOD's but that's expected ... can't decide whether to hang off in the hope of an actual Black Friday deal .. trying to think if I was them would I keep some stock back for BF deals

MrsBnow12 · 07/11/2024 21:57

I doubt they would keep any advents back as BF is late this year being the 29th, unless they release their offer early but also think they are trying to shift the calendars as so many have already sold out. I also think that is why Boots have included theirs in various offers as people have more choice around that price point and have gone for others and they won’t want stock lying around on 3 weeks time.

diamondsandrose · 07/11/2024 22:24

Yes that's a good point re Black Friday being the 29th. I feel it's more a Black Friday month now mind you !!
It's a gamble whether to wait for more discounts !!

Thelifeofawife · 07/11/2024 22:28

For those who got the JL beauty box, what are you favourite items? Did you buy for specific items or just to try something new?

Also, finally had a delivery update for my Elemis superfood cream from Amazon, looks like I will be getting the two I ordered

I love the Lumene serum (have had it before) and also like the Liz Earle cleanse and polish, good size. Sisley products have been nice before tho £££ so it’s always good to get one in a box.

bizzey · 08/11/2024 01:35

I will be honest ...I am actually feeling a little bit overwhelmed with LL the lovely bits I have got .

Can you lovely experienced people help me please 🙏 😀...

How do you organise all the different product for ease of use .
Do you store them separately
Ie....day creams
Night creams
Serums

But some are treatment creams ?
🤦.

bizzey · 08/11/2024 01:36

To be fair ...I don't really know which are day or night per say !!

IlovePond · 08/11/2024 07:11

Hi @bizzey - I have a couple of EL blockbuster bags that I use to store moisturisers, cleansers and serums for future use. Every now and then I check what’s in there so I don’t buy more ‘by accident’.

I have two makeup bags in plain sight that have the skincare things I am going to use next - so that the next to use eye cream, serum, etc. are always close to hand.

Recently I realised I had dozens of lip products hidden in bags/cupboards. I have put them all on a shelf so a) I might start using them and b) hopefully won’t buy anymore.

I have started putting a couple of perfumes, lotions, etc. by the sofa as applying them every now and then whilst watching TV, playing Scrabble, etc. cheers me up!

As I think I mentioned on here before - putting a load of bath products actually IN the bathroom has helped me to use them - who’d have thought🙀

I am trying to be more proactive with body lotions and hand creams. I have industrial quantities of both and don’t use them as much as I should.

Re: what’s what. Anything with an SPF will be daycream. For anything else, unless it actually says ‘night’ or ‘sleep’ on it, I would use it day or night.

I am reminded whilst writing this that I have far too much stuff🙀

SmashingGemini · 08/11/2024 08:30

L’Occitane advent is reduced on both Very and at John Lewis today.

Getamoveon2024 · 08/11/2024 08:38

Just seen a payment to Liberty from our bank account so I think that’s the one I’ll be getting from dh 🥰 I have had one for the last few years and really liked it. Anything I’m not keen on is snapped up by friends and family.

In this vein... can anyone recommend a night cream they've loved? My Elemis is about to finish and I'm not sure about repurchasing. I feel like I've had loads of night creams in advent calendars over the years but I've never wanted to repurchase any! They've all been too rich, too expensive, I haven't liked the smell or they've made me break out or irritated my skin. I do love Elemis for how gentle it is, I love the smell and it's very hydrating, but it's expensive considering I'm not sure it does much more than a high street brand.

I do have serums/oils/actives that I'm happy with (most from advents...) so what I need is just a general moisturiser to use at night afterwards

Not from an advent calendar but I'm yet to find anything that beats my facetheory night cream pro or jojoba cleansing oil. I have loads of other brands for other stuff but they are yet to be beaten. If you don't like it you can return it within a year.

I have a referral code if you want to try for 20% off, but they are currently have a bigger black friday discount x

This is so sad but I find I have serious hoarding tendencies so keep getting things with offers, my stash gets bigger and all I do is store it in pretty bags and occasionally take it all out to admire like a bloody magpie Confused I'm getting better at using things now but I have this weird mentality of keeping it for best almost!

I'm a work in progress Grin

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 08/11/2024 09:12

Actually I have recently listed everything on my phone in categories, so cleansers, eye cream for example with the intention that before buying anything else > hollow laugh < I'll check to see what I have first

L’Occitane advent is reduced on both Very and at John Lewis today.

A few advent calendars are now 20% on JL - worth checking rewards too, I have £10 off skincare (no minimum spend) but it seems to work on calendars.

psuedocream3 · 08/11/2024 09:31

@bizzey I have a Stylpro beauty pod to hold and arrange my products, well, just skincare and perfume in the top, and then the draws have their own bits in. I haven't decanted my advent calendar contents into it yet though as I'm waiting to finish a few items first.

Waffles21 · 08/11/2024 09:38

I’ve tried a few night creams over recent years including Face Theory, Dermalogica, Dr Hauschka and CT night cream and for me anyway Elemis is by far the best. I love how it makes my skin feel and can definitely see a difference. Would also be interested if anyone has any other ideas otherwise I’m sticking with Elemis!

bizzey · 08/11/2024 10:12

@IlovePond ,@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz
@psuedocream3
Thank you all!😀....

I think I was just having a bit of a guilt trip last night 😀😂.

I definitely need to get out of the
"Ohh this is a posh item ....I must save it for a special time , pamper time " ,,sort of mentality!

I gave myself a good talking to and realised that none of these wonderful products are going to make any difference to my skin if I don't actually put them on my skin !!! 😂😂..

I feel better now !
