We still have a few weeks to go but we are up to thread 6.

Will we get any good Black Friday discounts?

I'm just busy lurking...adding things to baskets and then closing the tabs...I already have regret that I didn't get the HN advent but I just don't like any of the others enough to really punt for it, although in the OK one I do actually use the origins moisturiser and can always use a mascara, few things I'd try but not much else in terms of gifting it, and I can't be doing with trying to sell things on. So I'm going to continue lurking...

IlovePond · 09/11/2024 18:04

That’s a good idea @Thelifeofawife

@IDontHateRainbows Did you find you got a good price for what you sold on?
I haven’t bought any fragrance AC’s because there’s too much I may not use, but if I can get some money back then it might be worth it.
I was kicking myself that I missed the Harrods fragrance AC when it restocked - I came on here and highlighted that it was back before making my purchase, then it sold out again 😅

I did, Certainly enough to cover the cost of the calendar plus some bits for myself. I found this one fairly easy to sell the products individually and it had a good cost to resale value ratio.

Ebay gets saturated once a few people start selling the products from the calendars meaning prices go down so I may well put this one in the attic, once I've picked off my personal spoils, to sell it before a holiday next year for spending money as hopefully by then it won't be full of the same listings.

If I haven't succumbed to keeping it all for myself by then!

Decisions decisions I've got Libery Glossybox and ASOS and thought I'd missed out on spacenk so bought the things I really wanted from Vinted. Now they are back in stock I'm thinking I would like the fragrance calendar. I've just had my birthday and dh had some gorgeous perfume shipped over from Italy so I don't really need any, but do I want more 🤔

SAVE20 takes 20% off advent calendars at Boots

kerstina · 09/11/2024 21:36

I was not sure about which calender to get so I made lists of stuff I would be happy with in each calender. Harvey Nicks can top but by the time I had emailed them about the GWP which they said did not apply it had sold out so I went for the next one on my list which was the Selfridges one . Arrived and opened today ! Pleased with it and especially the actual box it is in . don’t usually keep them. I aim to give a few things but would be happy to swap some things. Not too keen on the fragrance’s. Will be watching to see if HN comes back in stock not that I can afford it. I did buy the cult make up edit mainly for the WA blush as I love their highlighter.

MiaN · 10/11/2024 09:22

@IDontHateRainbows thanks for the inspiration to sell perfumes I am not going to use. Not all from advents some I have purchased and no longer want. I think I made enough to cover the full cost of Harrods and on the way to cover SpaceNk cost too.

Its not easy to make money for me, I ask for retail - 50% at least and throw in samples as gift. I would have been disappointed of few of the fragrance advent calendars I bought honestly of I wasn't able to get some of the money back.

psuedocream3 · 10/11/2024 11:05

Oooh SpaceNK [erfume advent is back in stock, must resist.

Branster · 10/11/2024 11:09

Thanks for the tip @MyStylish40s
Off I went on the Boots website to see what they have (left) in the way if ACs last night.
I used the website because their app is not fit for purpose.
I did a search and, amongst all their ACs they had a couple if sex related offerings. Definitely not what I wanted to stumble upon!!! That's why I stopped opening their Tuesdays £10 offer emails which used to be all about skincare and vitamins. Until one day they were advertising sex toys, it put me right off Boots. Yes I'm an adult and this is the way of the world but I really, really, really don't like this.
Still wondering about OK but I'm staying strong until everything sells out (I hope!).

buffyspikefaith · 10/11/2024 12:08

I've also gone for a wax melt advent calendar which just arrived!

Waffles21 · 10/11/2024 12:20

I hope it’s ok to ask this here. My sister has had a tough year this year so I’m sending her a box/ kind of beauty ( and choc!) advent, I’ve used some stuff from my m&s summer box and bridal beauty box as well as bought her a few things, I’ve got 4 gaps, has anybody got any ideas for small but lovely things I could add, ideally max of £20? To give an idea of what I’ve included so far: Clinique moisturiser, mini hand cream, mini cowshed shower and body lotion, Christmas tea lights, lip balm, face mask, space mask, hand mask, some chocolates, a Christmas dec, hand cream, ren toner, hair mask, anti frizz gel, nail varnish. Thanks so much!

IlovePond · 10/11/2024 12:39

Hi @Waffles21 - possibilities:

Miniatures from Rituals
Buying a cracker from L’Occitane and splitting the contents into different days
Minis from the Body Shop
Have a look at the travel miniatures in Boots

SpaceNK do miniatures - by the till in mine - but the prices of some products are eye-watering!

narniabusiness · 10/11/2024 12:41

@Waffles21 Ive made an advent this year for someone. Lots of beauty and a few chocs. I also added herbal teas as they enjoy those and a mini scented candle.

pinkchampagne1 · 10/11/2024 12:42

I see JL is out of stock again. Doesn’t look like there will be many advents left for any Black Friday discounts

IlovePond · 10/11/2024 12:43

Also @Waffles21 - TKMaxx often has masks, lip balms, bath products, etc.

Waffles21 · 10/11/2024 12:50

Aah thank you all so much, really appreciate you getting back to me, fab ideas too, will have a good look. Rituals and TK maxx are great shouts!

HollyGolightly4 · 10/11/2024 12:55

I think that is lovely @Waffles21 . I think I'd add
-Molton Brown bauble (£10 from Amazon)
-This works miniature sleep spray
-Pair of fluffy (Christmas?) socks
-Burts Bees lip balm

kerstina · 10/11/2024 13:12

Does anyone like the perfumes in the Selfridges advent ? Cannabis has got to be the worst perfume I have ever smelt. Really disappointing.Along with the leathery one

Puravida23 · 10/11/2024 13:12

@Waffles21 what about one of the John Lewis crackers they have make up and perfume in which might add a bit of variety . There are two types with 4 items in for £22

I am a fan.of the Malin and goetz dark rum which was in a calendar last year, and whilst I usually like edgy, minimalistic scents I'm not a fan of either the leather or cannabis. Sold them on.

Do you mean the Malin + Goetz leather? That's been a massive surprise for me, I wasn't expecting to like it but I absolutely love it.

HollyGolightly4 · 10/11/2024 14:00

Does anyone know what Molton Brown Black Friday deals are like? I'm looking for some fragrance for a present and I'd like a freebie!

MiaN · 10/11/2024 14:54

Malin and Goetz is very Santal 33, more then leather to my nose.
