Will we get any good Black Friday discounts?

I think we've all had different experiences but I really don't think that any of the comments mean that anyone is working for BBC or a rival. As I've said previously, I found their customer service really good and they were happy for me to return one of the mystery boxes I received a few months ago which was full of things I would never use. They replied quickly and were very pleasant about the return. I've only bought mystery boxes and apart from the one I returned, I've been very pleased with each one and they have been amazing value for money. There have been things that I wouldn't use in all of them, but I've either given them away or sold them on eBay/Vinted. But I can understand that some people have concerns about the company and the issue of reviews, and the mix up with the box that should have been cancelled. We can only share our own experiences.

@MiaN - thanks for your thoughtful comments re: fragrance - you are so knowledgeable! I think I might go for a fragrance calendar next year.

I suspect I might be in the ‘disliking oud’ camp - I really need to try some to find out.

Atm, my favourite fragrance is Floral Street Arizona Bloom, (discovered in an M&S summer beauty box and since re bought). I suspect my preference in perfume might be too simple to get much out of the more upmarket brands, but I’d like to have a go.

I have a Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir on the go too that DH got me last Xmas. I asked for it, having got a 9ml free at a JL event, but I am still on the fence about it. Wish I had the matching body cream to perhaps enhance it. (The assistant in Penhaligons suggested this with Luna and it really worked for me.)

I’m not used to my skincare having expiry dates - nearly all of it doesn’t.

I bought some Korean skincare from there last week and it had an expiry of May 27. (I bought it as I surely will have reduced my stash by then!)

I don’t know how they source their stuff, but that shows it’s not all near expiry.

I woke up in the middle of the night because I was freezing. So at 4am I went downstairs to put the heating on and also ordered the £50 BB mystery box before going back to sleep!

I'm hoping I enjoy it and £50 is definitely my limit when I don't know the contents (I also paid £5 p&p but not counting that lol). I regretted it slightly when I woke up later in the morning and remembered but now after reading this thread, I'm quite excited.

Just read this article - nothing new in it, but interesting from the pov that calendars are such big business that the BBC felt the need to comment on the wake of the recent SpaceNK scam:

While Space NK does look amazing, I think I'm glad I stuck with JL this year and am looking at other beauty offers to top up my supply for the year.

I have both the Space NK & the JL, I like a mix of the two of them.

The Space NK fragrance calendar is also available, not sure if that had previously gone out of stock

If there was still a GWP for purchases of £250 I think I would have cracked or even if I could have used my new customer discount or TCB.

As it is, I am trying to remind myself how much stuff I already have plus I have Shiseido and a previous year’s Rituals plus I still don’t want one sunscreen, never mind two!

May go off to distract myself by baking a cake until it’s sold out again 😹

Had had my eye on this for a while but held off as none of the offers were applicable. I've just bought it! 79.20. Boom. So that is my long awaited AC sorted. Just watching out for anything suitable as a Jadvent now 😉

I don’t think they will do a GWP given how popular it was/is.
Do you not have any Ndulge points to put towards it? Or even considering the points you will earn buying it to go towards future purchases 😉 You could always sell on the sunscreens if you don’t want those.

@Thelifeofawife - sadly no points but I am not surprised they stopped the GWP in time for a restock.

It’s a really good calendar and I do want it, but I have no luck reselling unwanted stuff on eBay so would probably get a fiver if lucky for those sun creams and the few other things I would never use - nowhere near enough to offset the expenditure😿

Having finally got the Boots site to accept the calendar in my basket, I am on the fence. There are at least six items - adding up to about £60 - that I would never ever use. It’s a great price and a good calendar, but I don’t think it’s for me. I wish Boots hadn’t stopped part payment with points - I’d have snapped it up if so.

After telling myself I absolutely wasn’t buying any skincare in November because I’ll have loads when I open the JL calendar, I’ve just bought one of the Cult Beauty edits. I’ve bought a couple of Korean cleansers from Skinsider too.

I have absolutely no willpower when it comes to beauty products!

@IlovePond Yes it’s annoying that Boots changed the rules, and it must put a lot of people off so they are losing out really with people finding new places to spend their money. I rarely purchase from Boots now, it’s mainly just Christmas bits. Since I found Notino last year I have bought a lot off there as there’s always good offers on.

With the AC DODs, what I did was search the products on eBay and go to ‘completed listings’ to see what they had recently sold for, so I knew what I was likely to get back before I committed to a second calendar (because I wanted some out of each calendar but couldn’t really justify buying 2)

@CorneliaStreet I am very tempted by one of the CB beauty edits, great price too. I know I don’t need it, because I have 2 AC’s, the JL beauty edit and the JL cracker.

I keep telling myself I’m sorry that I found this thread because I’ve spent a fortune…but deep down I know I’m not sorry 😅

@IDontHateRainbows Did you find you got a good price for what you sold on?
I haven’t bought any fragrance AC’s because there’s too much I may not use, but if I can get some money back then it might be worth it.
I was kicking myself that I missed the Harrods fragrance AC when it restocked - I came on here and highlighted that it was back before making my purchase, then it sold out again 😅
