Will we get any good Black Friday discounts?

@JudgeBurrito - that’s good advice. I did go into the Penhaligon’s outlet shops at Bicester and York recently but couldn’t stay long. I would particularly like to check out Byredo as well, as I know people love their stuff.

I liked the Luna and Quertus scents and hated the Halfeti. The lovely assistant also proudly brought me a Xmas candle to sniff and I had to try really hard not to show that I found it quite horrid.

I am annoyed that I didn’t buy some of the Penhaligon’s mini gift sets when they were on sale with some good free gifts recently. I told people about the offer, then missed it myself 😹. I think that’s why I would be pleased to get a few sample sizes in a mystery box - it would feel like a painless way to try them!

I am also more Luna (love it) than Halfeti. Although I have tried a Halfeti tester over 30 minutes to an hour and it definitely changed into something I liked more - but it it’s in the calendar (and I have a feeling…) then I think DH may be getting an extra present as I can imagine it on him.

Diptyque are my favourite scents by far but I’ve had the calendar before and just couldn’t justify the cost. There are quite a few Penhaligons I like in the British scents range they’ve had.

Thanks for the info @Doubleraspberry - I definitely want to try more! Luna certainly smelt better on me after an hour or so.

I also like Quercus so I think we probably have similar taste!

Me too - I think Quercus is lovely.

@IlovePond I have a sample size Byredo Mojave Ghost which is lovely but I find it doesn't last. I think they do an intense version so I wouldn't mind trying that also.

Not aimed at anyone in particular but just to note I was definitely not asked to verify any of the 3 reviews on Bridal Beauty that are written in my name , probably because I did not write them 😆😆

I wonder if there really is another (highly unusual )namesake of mine out there , also purchasing BBC boxes but unlike me having a wonderful experience . I'm glad she is enjoying her products so much 🤪

The bit about the candle made me actually lol 😂

I hope the assistant didn’t notice because she was very nice and helpful, but gosh that candle 🤢It was the pretty red one with I think a red and white striped paper cover - not for me!

You have me intrigued .. how would you describe the "fragrance " 😛

@diamondsandrose - it was supposed to smell smoky and spicy- to me it just smelt like soggy cigarette stubs and old socks - that’s the closest I can get. I think preferred smells can be so subjective and people instinctively respond in a certain way.

Apologies to anyone on here who loves that particular candle. It’s really popular and it looks very pretty - just not for me.

(I am sure lots of people would be horrified by my favourite scent - I am hardly in its target demographic 😹)

Would you be interested by any chance in swapping it for a selection of advent calendar goodies! I'm away at the mo, back in ten days.

Have to say, I wasn't a fan of the Byredo scent in the Harrods Beauty calendar. Already given that drawer away!

Gypsy water was in last year's fragrance calendar, which wasn't bad, but nothing amazing IMO.

I do want to try Byredo @MidnightMeltdown - must track it down at some point to have a sniff.

Halfeti to me has the benefit of being less stinky then other ouds my son loves. He loves Halfeti. I don't get on with oud but this one is highly rated and popular. I didn't get any full size bottle wants after penhaligons advent but it was fun to share and few I enjoy trying.

Perfume brand advents are great way to try try the brand imo, and fantastic to share but they try to appeal to variety of tastes. I have tried about 29 Byredo fragrances through 24 sample set and some in store and I only love 2 and like 2 more a lot. From Jo Malone range 1 love 4 strong likes. Diptyque also did not get on with Eau Capitalle, Pylkos and Eau de Sens at all but I think Eau Rose is very pretty I am open trying more. I did not like every single PDM apart from two I actually really love before that I was convinced I hate the brand.

But there are definitely brands I do not vibe with as fugazzi, dedcool, rosie jane, maison crivelli, malin and goetz (great candles) to name few

Shops are hard to try and properly experience perfume particularly those more subtle like Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt. People spray lots of perfume and the space has sent. If you have tried few ouds the softer scents will be hard to appreciate. People spray the caps for some reason and the bottles smell of from dirty dried sprays vs the actual perfume. Its trickier, fun to do but not as, easy as sample at home. Apart from preference two people can smell same perfume and actually smell different thing. Sometimes the magic happens after spraying on skin and giving it few minutes.

To me me when it comes to perfume it's about few things
Take it easy if you are sharing space with people that have no way out and need to be close to you.
How do you feel? How do you want to feel? Can a scent contribute to how you want to feel?

My BB box arrived on Thursday! I was out and put @MrsBnow12 photos on the family whatsapp with clear instructions the box needs checking and hiding from me and transferring into a lucky dip box ready for 1st Dec.
DS dealt with it and said it looked the same as the photos to him and confirmed the weird looking contraption was in the box. I am beyond pleased. I need to investigate how to use this Ziip but I'll wait until I actually get it. I didn't know it existed, let alone that I might want one. It works out at £70 spent for a £300 odd gadget. I upgraded my beloved Foreo Bear to the model 2 this year and I'm not sure yet how similar the gadgets are.
The box is smaller than last year's. Last year they included an AC and a lot more individual items but the overall value was similar, £200 for about £1000 value. Also last year I had both the expensive one and the other version which was slightly cheaper at £150 (I can't remember the exact price). Last year I did have tons of stuff and really liked most of it, so mystery versions work for me.
I'm holding off buying the smaller edit though. I looked at the link last night £50 for £300 worth of products which is very good value but I did promise myself not to spend any more money. I also suspect I might have most of the products already from previous edits as they do repeat a bit.

But, oh dear, this thread has turned so so so dangerous! So many offers, so many edits, so many temptations. I'd say the OK bundle is currently the best value.

@Branster Glad yours arrived safely and appears the VIP boxes are alll very similar.
i have looked into the device and it is very similar to the Foreo Bear 2 in what it ultimately achieves. I have never used a device before but have started using the Halo so time will tell how I get on.
i bought the £50 one last night as think it has the same cleanser which I love so made sense as it retails for £39. I am sure I said a few days ago I wasn’t buying anything more and have ended up buying Boots for Jadvent; CB pouch and this as well.

I have Space NK Beauty and Space NK Fragrance for myself only for December. Maybe I will keep the fragrance for January, not sure yet.

Fragrance - we shared Pentagons 2023 from the outlets, Harvey Nichols and Harrods at home between 3 of us. I sold some perfumes we won't be using and made enough to cover the cost of Harrods with little bit left over, so I don't feel too bad.

I am not looking for anything in specific in terms of deals, but may buy some makeup form Victoria Beckham if she has good offer as I can do with few replacements and few sample sets I have on my wish list.

The surprise boxes look fun but I am so set in my skincare preferance I know what I want and don't want to try many things on my face. I would be tempted more if it was hair care only or fragrance only as those I am always open to try more.

Look Fantastic have two fragrance boxes for £55 with a voucher of the same value to RP a bigger size from the box. I’m disappointed that By The Fireplace is in the man’s set but no Replica in the other box. I’ll probably still end up buying one 😬

@MrsBnow presume you mean the goat milk cleanser as seen in the reveal photo , if it is full size that is worth £39 , Are the boxes all the same ?

I notice 2 of the latest reviews for this box are dated 6 Nov which is before it was available surely as it was only released this morning. Incidentally both say it's " better than any advent calendar " !

@diamondsandrose I am hoping it is the full size goat milk cleanser from the reveal on Instagram.
I think they have just amended the description and price of the Christmas Edits as they have changed them as one of those reviews is mine.

Just to add the review from ‘Frances’ is my one. This is the picture from Instagram, I also know it’s a risk that you don’t get what you see as it is a mystery box.
