i have my own reasons for asking

MerlinsBeard · 23/04/2008 13:11

well i would wonder how i knew what her size was!

oiFoiF · 23/04/2008 13:11

well i live by the beach and i have more important issues to be worrying about than someone being sz 18 in a two peice
hth

frumpygrumpyhasnofaceon · 23/04/2008 13:12

I'd think good on her.

I am incapable of seeing good things about my own body but I, personally, have yet to see a woman in a bikini who looks crap. I love womens bodies.

ImightbeLulumama · 23/04/2008 13:13

depends, as tall size 18 is different to a short size 18 . are we talking tankini or thong string bikini? i am too busy sucking in my belly to look at or care what any other woman is wearing. if you have the confidence and are not going to walk round cringing, then go for it. i shall stick to my reinforced black ruched to hide the tummy cozzy !!

CountessDracula · 23/04/2008 13:13

I wouldn't think anything
People can wear what they want!

schneebly · 23/04/2008 13:13

would think 'good for her'. I am overweight and wouldn't have the confidence to wear anything revealing.

piratecat · 23/04/2008 13:13

good on her, live and let live really.

artichokes · 23/04/2008 13:13

It depends. If she was big but toned I would admire her. If she had a very droopy tummy and cellulite I might wonder why she shose the bikini and not a tankini that she could discretly roll up when sunbathing.

bluenosesaint · 23/04/2008 13:13

My honest reaction would be - thank God i'm not the only one (although i could never be brave enough to wear a bikini - i've got God Awful stretch marks!)

SmugColditz · 23/04/2008 13:13

wouldn't even notice

OrmIrian · 23/04/2008 13:14

I would hope that she was enjoying sitting on the beach, quite unconcious of her size and enjoying the sun. However I suspect that she would be sitting there feeling uncomfortable, wishing she hadn't worn this bloody bikini and wondering why that woman over there was staring at her.

izzybiz · 23/04/2008 13:14

You can be a size 18 and perfectly in proportion, toned, firm etc.

Or you can be me!

Novicecamper · 23/04/2008 13:14

Do people honestly not notice what other people are wearing - never think 'good God, that looks awful'??

Just me then.

Nothing wrong with being whatever size - just dress to flatter I would say.

trishpops · 23/04/2008 13:14

this will get me an earbashing from some poeple but i don't care about size, but i do ind loads of body hair unsightly! so sort your pantbeard out and you'll be fine in my book :-) plus i'm a size 14-16 and i think as long as the bikini fits well go for it. def get an underwired top that gives proper support. M&S usually do good ones.

Oliveoil · 23/04/2008 13:14

I would follow her around for shade...

cadelaide · 23/04/2008 13:14

I'd think good on her, but only if she was holding her head high and acting proud.

Nothing worse than seeing an 18 in a bikini trying to make herslf look smaller, all hunkered up and ashamed.

Then I just feel pity.

To be honest i don't think i would be that bothered. I would probably only think that she should maybe cover up/1 piece, if the weight was wobbly and overhanging.

But, as i'm no oil painting it's not my place to judge !

seeker · 23/04/2008 13:17

Pity?

What, because we live in such a body-fascist society that she can't be comfortable with her looks and wear whatever she wants to wear without worrying about being judged?

cadelaide · 23/04/2008 13:18

Read my post properly seeker

lizandlulu · 23/04/2008 13:18

wow qick responses!
oliveoil, if i see someone creeping behind me i will at least know what they are doing

OP posts:
Oliveoil · 23/04/2008 13:20

I am only joking

I am not bothered what size people are as long as their costume fits properly

a bikini up your arse looks just as bad on a size 12 as it does an 18

OverMyDeadBody · 23/04/2008 13:21

If the bikini fits properly I wouldn't think anything of it, but I'm afraid I do notice if someone is wearing a too small bikini that's digging into them and their boobs keep falling out, regardless of their size.

frumpygrumpyhasnofaceon · 23/04/2008 13:21

Cadelaide meant, its all it the way you wear it.....she'd feel sad if she felt the woman was uncomfortable instead of getting her body out on a hot day and not giving a toss.

OrmIrian · 23/04/2008 13:21

I have never had a bikini that fits properly. I hate them. But DH gets sulky if I take my nice trusty speedo to the beach though.
