i doubt most women would think anything of it either way... it would look odder seeing someone on a beach all covered up rather than enjoying the sun on her skin. plus, i don't think i know any women who really think they look good in a bikini whether a size 8 or 18

lizandlulu · 23/04/2008 13:22

well i can assure you it is not a srting bikini, i do have some sense!!!

some great replys.

i am going to ibiza with a friend for the weekend, in about 7 weeks. i have lost just over a stone and am feeling pretty good.

but will take a swimsuit too just in case i chicken out.

although in ibiza i think there will be lots of different shapes and sizes.

Thanks frumpy, that's it exactly

OverMyDeadBody · 23/04/2008 13:22

I think I look good in a bikini Lady!

Why not Orm?

Monkeybird · 23/04/2008 13:23

oh you're all being VAIRY pc today. you'd all go 'ooh yes well done' your friends, but you'd secretly think 'fat cow'.

I would.

I'm allowed to say that, I am size 1618

Monkeybird · 23/04/2008 13:24

to between done and your

SmugColditz · 23/04/2008 13:27

No, Monkeybird, I really wouldn't. Why on earth would I? I'm far too self obsessed!

LadySanders · 23/04/2008 13:28

overmydeadbody, i am not suggesting for a moment that you shouldn't! i just think there are plenty of size 8 women, me included, who don't feel confident in a bikini either...

OrmIrian · 23/04/2008 13:28

overmydeadbody - I suspect that it's because I hate trying them on so I just grab the first one that looks like my size and run for the hills! And I have a big arse. Which isn't good for a bikini.

hifi · 23/04/2008 13:42

it gives everyone a good laugh.

cheesesarnie · 23/04/2008 13:45

i probably wouldnt notice as id be too concerned how i look in a bikini

JodieG1 · 23/04/2008 13:46

I wouldn't feel confident in a bikini and I'm a size 8, I'm far too self conscious.

ingles2 · 23/04/2008 13:47

bikinis are the most ridiculous, attention seeking, pointless items of clothing in the entire world and should only be worn by stick thin teenagers. IMO.

cheesesarnie · 23/04/2008 13:49

im a 6 but with no boobs i worry how i look.i havent enough to fill the bikini-id rather be someone with curves that could wear a bikini properly rather than with no curves and just bit of material on me.i feel uncomfortable but i DO wear a bikini on the beach!

Novicecamper · 23/04/2008 13:49

Rubbish.

Novicecamper · 23/04/2008 13:50

That was to ingles btw!

JodieG1 · 23/04/2008 13:50

cheesesarnie I have E cup boobs and feel no different about bikinis.

cheesesarnie · 23/04/2008 13:50

rubbish to me?

ingles2 · 23/04/2008 13:50

I presume that's for me Novice?

JodieG1 · 23/04/2008 13:50

Actually the last time I wore a bikini was when I was 19 and in Ibiza with friends. I wasn't conscious at all then but am very much so now as my body has changed.

cheesesarnie · 23/04/2008 13:51

oh jolly good, wondered what id done!

hecate · 23/04/2008 13:51

I hate bikinis on anyone. Awful, awful things. Might as well strip naked. A nice, tasteful one piece, that's the way to go. For everyone!!!

ingles2 · 23/04/2008 13:53

It's not!!
Which adult woman wants to be hoiking her bikini up or down at every opportunity...wondering if anyone and everyone is looking at your spare roll / stretch mark / cellulite, you can't swim in it, you can't play with the kids in it, all you can do is lay there and not move. And we all know how bad that is these days to lay in the sun, in fact we should be in full suits like the victorians to avoid skin cancer!
See!

ib · 23/04/2008 13:54

I don't think I would notice. Mind you, in Brazil I used to see enormous women in thongs walking down the street and I thought it was cool and often wished I was that comfortable in my own skin (was a size 4 teenager at the time!)

PregnantPenguin · 23/04/2008 14:10

I think that once you've got over yourself, beaches and pools are just funny (and not in a mean way). Once I've got over my own paranoia, all I see are bodies and they are all different and are all fine - including mine! Bigs ones, small ones, tall ones, short ones, young ones, old ones. I'm always facinated by those that are very different to mine, but always realise after a couple of hours if I put on / lost a stone, etc, no one would really care, and neither should I.

BTW this doesn't stop the diet madness pre holiday every time tho!!!

So wear what you like - and don't worry what anyone else, be it here or on the beach thinks!
