Nivea cream

If any of you are also a fan of nivea cream in the white tub/tube.

The formulation has changed and its rubbish, the new ones say the formula is vegan, the old ones don’t. Where we are lots of shops still have old stock, so if you’re fan get some to tide you over. We’ve bought two blue pots instead of our usual one in case that formulation changes as well.

Is this change just to the Nivea Soft (white pot/tube) cream or does it apply to the original Nivea (dark blue pot) cream as well?

deeahgwitch · 07/09/2024 17:31

I see the smaller tub of Nivea Soft in my has the green leaf/ Vegan symbol.
However the large tub is being sold (off ) for €5 and it hasn't got the green leaf on it.

Cosmetic companies If it ain't broke don't fix it

VanillaImpulse · 07/09/2024 22:08

Hopefully they will read all the most recent reviews on Boots.com. Everyone hates the new version!

bennyonthedispatch · 08/09/2024 08:36

This is awful news! I read this yesterday, then planned to stock up while out shopping. However in Asda, one pot of the old formula (not the massive ones, the inbetween size, not sure on ml), was £10! Not so long ago, you could buy the huge tubs for under £5!

I'm going to keep looking everywhere I go - Semi Chem, Home Bargains & B&M next on my list. I want to stock up, but not at that price!

Tomorrowisanewday · 08/09/2024 14:21

I popped into the tesco near the holiday cottage I'm staying at, and they had the old style for £5.40 for the big pot, so I stocked up with a couple. Have still written to them though

Simonjt · 11/09/2024 20:11

My mum has done some nivea based research this week, boots had the old type but it was over £10! Morrisons and sainsburys however had the old type at just over £5 for the large tub, they also had the tube and smaller tubs as well.

My corner shop had some (i say 'had' advisedly 😃) . Smaller shops that don't turn over stock so fast may be a good bet.

Props to @Simonjt 's mum for her research!

Although I've never tried this moisturiser, I am so annoyed on your behalf.
Why do manufacturers do this??!!
This reminds me about 2 absolute favourites of mine: the Anne French cleanser which has completely vanished and the Vaseline rollon cream antiperspirants which have also been discontinued.
I've noticed (well, looked on purpose to post on here), Tesco and Morisons had large tubs (500ml) at £5.75 or thereabouts without the vegan green note on the lid. I forgot to look In Sainsburys.

Branster · 11/09/2024 21:34

Worth trying independent small chemists as well

coxesorangepippin · 11/09/2024 21:39

Live in canada and can still get it here

You can place your orders with me 🤣

halava · 13/09/2024 15:39

I'm just back from a week in Normandy. Yep, all vegan versions there too in every outlet/supermarket I visited. I really thought I'd be lucky!

I managed to snag a supply from Amazon last week though. I could open a shop now ha ha.

isthismylifenow · 13/09/2024 16:03

In in South Africa and from what I can make out is that we don't have the vegan one here (yet?). Although I am going to look in the shops physically just to be sure.

For those who have bought the new version, where is it made ?

I use the blue Creme religiously in winter and Soft in summer as it's not quite so heavy.

I will be very pissed off if they change the blue one too.

isthismylifenow · 14/09/2024 16:11

Sighs. After my trip to the shops today, it seems we have also been afflicted with the green rectangle version 🙈

I happened to be out with my dad, who is 80 years old. I think he is more annoyed about this than me, as he reckons using lanolin has been around longer than he has 😊

We were in a mall so went on a hunt. No old formulations in any of the pharmacy stores so we tried the supermarket. There right at the back behind the new stock, were some tubes laying down. We think someone may have stashed them as they were the original version ones. My dad got his arm in there and kept handing me tubes 😂. We found 5 old ones. So I took them all.

So I now have some stock for a while thank goodness. And I have to say I had quite an adventurous, but memorable day with my dad too. 😊

It thought maybe we may have been a bit behind the times as I was sure Nivea products for sale here, are made locally (as our range is not completely the same) But they are not. I have just checked what I have, and the Blue Creme in the tube is made in Poland. The Blue Creme in the tin is made in Germany. And the Soft which I just bought (the old formulation) is made in Spain. So I'm wondering now where the new formulation is made ?

Could this be as a result of ingredient shortages which have also affected other products, all dressed up as now a vegan eco friendly formulation?

bennyonthedispatch · 18/09/2024 20:45

I got 4 x 500ml old non-vegan formualtion tubs in Tesco today - £5.70 each - sod off Asda and your £10 a tub!

nildesparandum · 18/09/2024 21:06

Thankyou I have just sent an e mail of complaint to Nivea

echt · 18/09/2024 23:08

Another fan of Nivea Soft and stocked up in Melbourne. No sign of the vegan version yet.

loropianalover · 19/09/2024 11:13

My local Boots and Tesco are both switched over to the vegan version… not really interested to look elsewhere as I get points/club card deals in both of those places, that’s why I shop there.

The vegan Nivea soft has been fine as a body cream for me, but I definitely noticed a difference on my face. I’ve switched to the blue Nivea for my face, which I usually use in winter months anyway so not a big deal. It will be very annoying if they change the blue tube.

nildesparandum · 19/09/2024 20:22

I got the usual standard reply to my e mail.We are ''looking into this and taking notice''.
got myself a blue tub today, as my local shops all have the vegan version.

whymewhyme · 19/09/2024 21:47

Just jumping on, I've seen loads of people rave about the nivea soft, what is so go about it? do you use it on your face or just body?

murasaki · 19/09/2024 23:45

Just on my body, I use blue on my face as its thicker, I given it while to sink in. Neither aggravate my eczema, so I'm peeved that they're changing the recipe.

fao · 20/09/2024 03:07

I am so so so sad. I've been using this for about 20 years I reckon! My skin doesn't feel comfortable until I've moisturised with it. I keep a tube in my handbag AND daughter's nappy bag and both upstairs and downstairs at home. I sound like a Nivea Soft fanatic but that is just how much comfort it brings to my skin. Sadly they'll have a lost a customer in me if the new formula doesn't feel the same. What a pity.

I'll be sending an email of complaint and stocking up on the old ones.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 20/09/2024 06:47

I got one 500ml pot in Waitrose this week, 2 left behind , and 3 from Amazon. The smaller pots and tubes were the new ones.

isthismylifenow · 20/09/2024 08:09

I have to wonder what has happened to much of the old stock. The announcement was August if I remember correctly, and it is now only a month later.

Most of the product seems to be made in EU, so for us, shipping time has to be factored in (I am in SA), and that alone is usually 4 - 6 weeks.

Not one place I have been to has the old stock in the tub. I found a few tubes in one supermarket, but have not seen the old version anywhere else. It is always something that was regularly on the shelf. I really don't think that all of the stock in every shop has sold out. Our big pharmacies like Boots etc will have had a lot of stock. Nivea have their own stands in our stores. I think they have been pulled from stock. And I don't get why.

isthismylifenow · 20/09/2024 08:18

I found this link from August. I do not know the site, but if what this says is true, it is not just Soft that is being re-formulated.

www.beautypackaging.com/contents/view_breaking-news/2024-04-08/nivea-rolls-out-new-packaging-to-meet-beiersdorfs-2025-sustainability-goals/

The lip balm, and shower products are also in the firing line.

And the blue tin. If the new one is anything like the new Body Shop Camomile one, it will not be great.
