If any of you are also a fan of nivea cream in the white tub/tube.

The formulation has changed and its rubbish, the new ones say the formula is vegan, the old ones don’t. Where we are lots of shops still have old stock, so if you’re fan get some to tide you over. We’ve bought two blue pots instead of our usual one in case that formulation changes as well.

If they've veganised it they must have removed the lanolin.
Incidecoder is a great place to find out skin care ingredients.

Morning all you Nivea Soft lovers. I have received a (very prompt) reply to my email to the complaints department of Nivea.

I'm not sure if I can post the reply here, would anyone know?

Not terribly hopeful response, full of sustainability and all that shite. Probably just means it's now cheaper to manufacture or something. Yes, I'm raging!

Meditationgame · 03/09/2024 10:39

It's your email to do with as you wish.

Isn’t lanolin a byproduct of sheep fleece processing? Surely it’s more environmentally friendly to use this natural product than throwing it away. The vegans can go to Lush.
I love Nivea Soft. We go through tubs of the stuff in my house.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/09/2024 10:55

I LOVE Nivea soft and the smell is gorgeous and it does lovely things to my face BUT after 5 days of use my skin reacts 😢 I wonder if the new stuff would be any better?

That aside, I hate it when companies change formulas, I stopped using Liz Earle because of this.

Post the email, there's no reason not to.

A lot of people react to lanolin so you may find the new version works better for you (if this is what has been removed).

seeyouyesterday · 03/09/2024 11:22

Really, oh crap, it’s the only moisturiser I use, literally been using it for best part of 20 years or so! Damn it. I usually get mine from home bargains so I’ll have a look next time I’m in & see if there is still the old tubes & stock up!

halava · 03/09/2024 11:27

Here's the reply....

Thank you very much for your message.

For NIVEA, skin always comes first. We are dedicated to our consumers and their skin, but at the same time, it’s our responsibility to contribute to a more sustainable future.

This year, the formula of our NIVEA Soft has been evolved/sustainably improved and now contains 95% naturally derived ingredients and is 98% biodegradable. In addition, our formula is produced with 100% electricity from renewable sources.

Thanks to the new formula the carbon footprint of NIVEA Soft is significantly reduced:

  • At least 40% CO2 emissions reduction related to our ingredients, compared to our previous formula.
  • At least 20% CO2 emissions reduction at total product level.

The NIVEA Soft is now also 100% climate neutralized. The term “climate neutralized” means that the remaining emissions of NIVEA Soft, after they have been significantly reduced, are balanced by certified climate projects, such as planting new trees or even entire forests. Only products that have been sustainably improved in their CO2 footprint are selected to be climate-neutralized (meaning remaining emissions are balanced). Check www.nivea.com/climate to learn more.

Rest assured that the new NIVEA Soft formula has been carefully developed and extensively tested in market research surveys and product studies. The naturally-derived ingredients used does however give the formula a slightly different consistency and smell, versus the previous formula, which can affect the skin feel of the product.

We sincerely regret that you dislike the new formula and your feedback is really important to us. All consumer comments are considered when planning and further developing our products. Until then, we hope you will consider giving the new formula another chance, knowing that it is not only good for your skin, but also environmentally friendly.

Nevertheless we have forwarded your request for the reintroduction of the previous formulation that you really enjoyed using to the relevant department for their consideration. We hope that you understand that we unfortunately cannot currently provide you with an outcome regarding your suggestion, but please be assured that your suggestion and feedback will be considered.

If you have any further queries at all, we´d be happy to help you. Our Consumer Careline can be reached from Monday to Friday by calling NIVEA 00800 49 40 1911 (UK); 1800 494018 (Ireland) or you can visit us at www.NIVEA.co.uk.

Kind Regards

Isabel

What a load of waffle! Lots of
Complaints on Reddit too.

Meditationgame · 03/09/2024 12:26

Total rubbish. It wasn't broken, there was nothing to fix, it's a cost issue covered up with a dose of green washing. Google is suggesting Boots every day cream or Nivea baby as alternatives.

halava · 03/09/2024 13:03

BTW there's a one day deal on Amazon Prime for the (what I hope is) the original version if you're all quick! I bought a few of the big pots and looking at the pics it is the original version without the green oblong vegan signal.

Here's hoping. Just search for Nivea Soft.

dreamingofsun · 04/09/2024 14:42

visited 3 shops in big local town that either didnt have any stock or had the vegan one with the green label on the lid. But hurray, at the second shop in my tiny town struck lucky and bought 3 tubs....tesco express.

thanks for the post

BetFreda · 04/09/2024 20:37

Got three tubs from Amazon 🎉

seeyouyesterday · 06/09/2024 14:53

I was in that Bodycare shop other day & they had original tubes & tubs in, I didn’t grab any as I still have a bit left in my tube & I’m penny pinching this month - although I’m beginning to think maybe I should have grabbed a couple of tubes or a tub!

Please all you Nivea Soft lovers, get an email off at the address I gave above. There's power in numbers I hope! Worth a shot anyway.

And yes I hate it when the formula of products changes, especially if there's nothing wrong with it in the first place!

I don't use it but have sent an email for you all!!

Precipice · 06/09/2024 15:34

"Until then, we hope you will consider giving the new formula another chance, knowing that it is not only good for your skin, but also environmentally friendly."

This sounds smug and sanctimonious. It may be 'good' for your skin in the sense of not containing harmful ingredients, while not being good for your skin in the sense of not having a useful effect, having an unpleasant feeling, causing breakouts, etc.

lotsofthingstolearn · 06/09/2024 15:47

Please can someone post a picture of the new version so I know which to avoid!

pasta · 06/09/2024 15:53

Oh no! This is awful news.

familyissues12345 · 06/09/2024 15:53

It's on offer on Ocado at the moment, and looks like it's the old tubs

LuannDe · 06/09/2024 16:06

I have eczema and was literally in tears the other week because the new formula caused so much damage to my skin.

Contact Nivea, I have.

Also seem to be many sellers profiting on Vinted selling bulk stock of the old version. I got a pack of twelve tubes on there so at least I’m covered for a while!

loropianalover · 06/09/2024 16:10

I can’t remember if the tub I have at home has the ‘new formula’ symbol on or not. I get mine in Tesco on the club card so I’ll stop in on my way home today. My skin had felt sore/unhydrated lately but I put it down to the windy weather.

LuannDe · 06/09/2024 17:19

I would also say that anyone who has eczema/dermatitis/sensitive skin, La Roche-Posay Nutritic Intense Rich is fab and a good dupe for the Nivea Soft (although obviously more expensive).

Thanks, I've emailed. Just can't wait for the hugely uninformative reply.
