Wedding guest panic dress too tight

So I have a lovely dress for a wedding on sat but tried it on last night and it's v tight. The zip does do up with a lot of pulling but once it's up it feels very uncomfortable. I could wear it but with the heat as well it's goong to be an ordeal. Feel so stupid. Feel like I'm v bloated in the heat as scales is the same or a couple of pounds down. Had wanted to lose weight but didn't happen 🙈

I've ordered a couple of dresses from
Next that are coming tmw. Not sure if they will even fit though.

Had a thought - you know those satin skirts that are everywhere - I have one in white and I have a nice silky top in navy. Would that be ok do you think. It's a wedding in France. Due to be touching 30 degrees. But starts at 530 . I also have a black satin skirt and could look for a top to go with it. Wwyd. Thank you

I love the broderie one from next but it's touching the floor on me. I thought I could hem it but it's a circle skirt when you lay it out and I've looked it up on y tube and am
afraid of ruining it . Can just about hem a pair of trousers . Think marks is closed now. I could try and get the blue and white one . Or the green one is that ok.

Do y want to see it ha ha. It is a bit long but I'm going to shorten the lining so y can see a bit of leg thru the broderie

Ideally I would like it an inch or 2 shorter but ..: I think with a bit of the lining taken up it will lighten the bottom of it. Do you approve Mumsnet 🤣

Looks lovely. Definitely a silver necklace.

jenny38 · 14/08/2024 21:10

Lovely, you will feel cool too. Bit of fake tan, silver jewellery and paint your nails if you have time. Bet you feel relieved!

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 14/08/2024 21:11

that's lovely !

it gives a different ' vibe ' to the M&S blue and white one, but I can't explain why or what I mean.

heldinadream · 14/08/2024 21:11

It's beautiful. You look lovely. I agree a splash of bright if you can though. Got any other shawls/pashminas/big scarves? Lots of colours would work; pink, green, blue, yellow even. You must have something?
But the dress is great and not too long as far as I can see!

PreciousMahoney · 14/08/2024 21:16

That's so pretty! And is that a wrap I see? I suggested a wrap earlier😄

JaimeParis · 14/08/2024 21:27

Lovely and it suits you 😊

Final outfit thank you mumsnetters!!!!

It's lovely but I would add a gold or silver necklace.

spanieleyes22 · 14/08/2024 21:48

I think silver would suit me. Yeh a diff vibe from the blue and white marks one which I liked too. Is this more elegant maybe🤣thank you all so much

Absolutely love this! I think navy and silver look great! Do a layering necklace thing, that always works well. You look gorgeous! 🎉🎉

If you're wearing silver, I'd be tempted to go for a hot pink scarf or wrap if that's what you want!

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/08/2024 21:51

Don't forget some nice make up and a good strong lipstick.

AllTipAndNoIceberg · 14/08/2024 22:10

Looks great. I don’t think it’s too long! Length is nice. Have a wonderful time

Yes, lovely.

ScrollingLeaves · 14/08/2024 22:22

I think that pale silver shawl in the photo looks subtle and elegant.

Strangerthanfictions · 14/08/2024 22:33

Go to marks and Spencer, they have lots of comfortable dressy enough options, pick something floaty, decent fabric and comfortable, you can wear nice jewellery, a statement lipstick to add a dressy look but just go for simple and comfortable, you're going to be miserable and sweaty if you wear something more glamorous and won't feel like you look good anyway so it's pointless. I sweat a lot and if this was me I'd also be choosing something it won't show up in. France is all paired back glam. Also wear your hair up. I am just back from France and my sunglasses even made my face sweat 😅

Wilson79 · 14/08/2024 22:44

Go classic and accessorise! FYI M&S have some really pretty coloured tops just now. With a nice clutch and necklace you could pair with a simple floral skirt
