New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

I think I have talked myself out of it @Brackenfield. Because of the waist band potentially stretching out, but also the price. Maybe I’ll reconsider in a sale.

IlovePond · 01/11/2024 15:24

I have just found my two Fairisle Toast hats - yippee! Sadly, it’s far too warm to wear them🙀

Bimblesalong · 01/11/2024 15:32

Loving the toast fairisle discussions. I bought a toast fairisle jumper during the pandemic that sparked a curiosity to do some fairisle knitting (I was a knitter before). I’ve now made many pieces and love it as a hobby - it was Toast that got me back to it!!

That is so impressive @Bimblesalong ! I have no idea how to knit, I never learned.

IlovePond · 01/11/2024 15:35

@Bimblesalong - how beautiful- I wish I could do that!

Stravaig · 01/11/2024 15:47

Beautiful work @Bimblesalong !

Bimblesalong · 01/11/2024 16:42

Thanks, toasties!

faustina · 01/11/2024 19:29

@Bimblesalong - oh wow - they're beautiful!

Netcam · 01/11/2024 19:40

@Bimblesalong, fantastic work!

mizu · 01/11/2024 20:07

@Bimblesalong beautiful colours! The only thing I ever knitted was a scarf at university.

OftenOrange · 01/11/2024 20:13

@Bimblesalong That's such an achievement, the pieces are beautiful …and unique.
I knitted 3 serious Rowan jumpers many years ago , they all came out 3 sizes too big . I still have one and shall dig it out as I like oversized at the moment.

OftenOrange · 01/11/2024 20:19

À propos Toast knitwear and knitwear in general : my thickest one is the Donegal with the textured chevron rib in a lovely russet melange from 2 yrs ago.. I don’t find it warm at all despite being so thick ,I have to wear a merino or cashmere jumper under it.
Whereas my warmest and most treasured are 2 Eric Bompard cable turtle neck cashmere , bought massively reduced in a sale. No pilling ever and very warm.
The style is fitted and more classic than Toast but the quality is incredible.

Bimblesalong · 02/11/2024 09:47

They sound really lovely @OftenOrange

Now. May I ask what might be a heretical question, but what do people think about Plümo? I’m being followed round the internet by a couple of things I clicked on, which seem rather Toast adjacent.

Snowyowl78 · 02/11/2024 09:51

@Bimblesalong coincidentally I am just looking at Plumo! Graham St instagram made me do it. Have you seen their Instagram page? They often wear Plumo and look great in it. I love a bag on their latest post but just looked it up and it’s £495! All the clothes look lovely but I’ve not tried anything before.

Bimblesalong · 02/11/2024 09:53

Oooh thankyou! Just off for a look.

Snowyowl78 · 02/11/2024 09:55

I love the striped shirt but it’s sold out in most sizes.

IlovePond · 02/11/2024 10:02

I am NOT looking at £495 🙀My DH already looked horrified when I just mentioned the blue Toast Uruguayan one, (which is wonderful), at £395!

Bimblesalong · 02/11/2024 10:31

@Snowyowl78 that is gorgeous - I bought a similar shirt from white company this summer and have worn it no end. I’ve purchased the hoyland dress and Jack sweater in scarlet to see what I think.

the bag is lovely!

Countmeout · 02/11/2024 10:48

What a fabulous talent @Bimblesalong . Love the colours.

Agree some of Plumo is ££££. But it always looks very enticing.

I have never bought from Plumo on principle @Bimblesalong. They never state the brand in the description of the items, but if you happen to know, then you can look elsewhere and see how much they inflate prices by. For example, I bought a top recently from Aiayu (a lovely Danish brand). I saw it in a shop local to me at £100 but they didn’t have my size. I bought direct from Aiayu in Denmark, and with shipping it was still a few £ less than I saw it here. I see that Plumo also have it - for £139!!! This isn’t the first time I have noticed their crazy inflated prices, and their lack of brand transparency feels off to me too.

Snowyowl78 · 02/11/2024 11:15

@ScottishMouse i naively assumed all their stuff was ‘plumo’ made, didn’t realise they sell other brands!

ScottishMouse · 02/11/2024 11:21

Nope @Snowyowl78. as far as I know none of it is Plumo-made. I read someone talking about this elsewhere, how they had contacted Plumo about their inflated prices compared to buying the brands they stock elsewhere, and they were basically told they were paying for Plumo’s curation of their collections!!! Pretty shocking.

Snowyowl78 · 02/11/2024 11:22

Wow @ScottishMouse good to know

ScottishMouse · 02/11/2024 11:25

I am happy to pay for good quality clothing (hence Toast!), but I really do have a problem with businesses duping customers like this @Snowyowl78.

Bimblesalong · 02/11/2024 11:39

Wow @ScottishMouse ! I did wonder if there was some hundred stars items there as they seemed identical so it makes sense for there to be other makers represented. Thanks for the heads up - I guess I have the option to return my garments if need be.
