I think there was one a few months/weeks back but can't find it, so apologies if doubling up.
What perfume are you wearing today?
I will wear Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur in hope it will actually be warm today.

I think rose & patchouli perfumes just don't work for me. Diptyque Eau Capitale, Frederic Malle Portrait of Lady and now Sana Jardin Incense Water - it's not a type of scent I enjoy. I also had sniff of Barber Blonde - fresh citrus, I will try it again in warmer weather. That's the other aspect of trying samples - if I didn't have great citrus and I find one I will consider it but I love my Atheir Cologne freshies and it will be though sell to buy new.

Office day - Bal D'Afrique for me today.

Aesop have popped up with fragrance sample set on Space Nk, I have not seen one before.

MiaN · 04/11/2024 06:16

Fragrance is so personal, so if someone doesn't like your favourite - don't take it personally. To me Bal D'Afrique is the nicest perfume there is but for others it's too citurussy etc - what scent makes us feel good is different there is no right way to feel about scent.

I know how popular Portrait of Lady is but it's just not for me.

IDontHateRainbows · 04/11/2024 08:02

Sana Jardin Sandlewood temple for me today. I got it in the liberty beauty drop. It's a pleasant scent and not overly strong. In a big meeting today in new job so don't want to stink out the room -hope I haven't overdone it!

BakeOffRewatch · 04/11/2024 09:23

Talking about fragrance being personal, I finally got round to asking DH his opinion on Vyrao Free 00, because I can’t smell it and think it fades within an hour. He said it was so strong and zesty and made his eyes sting! That was him smelling it very near my skin though. I really can’t smell it at all after it’s dried.

chenust · 04/11/2024 09:47

No worries if it's a repeat—always love a good fragrance chat! Today, I'm wearing a light spritz of Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt, hoping for a bit of freshness and calm. Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur sounds perfect for summoning a touch of warmth; it has that fresh, green vibe that feels like a crisp, sunny day.

MiaN · 04/11/2024 09:55

Both are my summer favourites. Wood Sage and Sea Salt all year round

Lurkingshark · 04/11/2024 10:13

Another fan of wood sage and sea salt. I wore blackberry and bay for my wedding years ago but this is much nicer.

molecule + iris for me and a long train journey. You are all much more considerate to your office colleagues

TheLongRider · 04/11/2024 10:39

Ex Nihilo Cuir Celeste - lovely warm and soft scent. Black pepper, osmanthus, patchouli and musk. Gender neutral but leans more masculine. Like snuggling into a soft leather jacket. Definitely an autumn/winter scent.

hughiedoesntfight · 04/11/2024 13:01

Montale Arabian’s tonka for today.

Not worn it for ages.

IDontHateRainbows · 04/11/2024 18:20

I have just tried the Hera Reigns by Liberty which was in the scent gift they recently released. I quite like it! I haven't got into any of the other scents from the LBTY range but I do like this one. I'm crap at describing them but it's sharp at first but with a lovely mellow undertone.

TriciaMcMillan · 04/11/2024 18:47

Hello! I have been enticed over to Scent of the Day by the fragrant @MiaN.

I tried the Xerjoff Erba Pura from my Flannels cracker this morning and was loving how potent and fruity it was, when my husband came in from the garden and nearly passed out. I may have overdone it?!

MiaN · 04/11/2024 19:51

I am not the target audience for Sana Jardin. I feel I am done with the sample set and large majority I don't want to even test on skin.

spikeandbuffy · 04/11/2024 20:28

4160 Tuesdays freshly laundered

MiaN · 05/11/2024 05:55

Parfums de Marly Oriana. I didn't love it when I tried it in the sample set I have to say, and I considered selling the 30ml but the bottle is so cute! It's first time I am committing to full day wear, lets see how it goes. Love Delina La Rose and Athalia but I feel this has chance to be a good like, considering I didn't pay full price for it as it's from Harrods advent. I will give it a wear before deciding keep or sell

MiaN · 05/11/2024 07:07

Well that was short day! I decided to make a bundle and try to swap or sell - Oriana 30ml, Delina 10ml, Portrait of Lady 10ml, and Creed Queen of Silk 10ml. They are just not for me, no point of trying to make myself appreciated them

BakeOffRewatch · 05/11/2024 07:31

Aw I kind of feel sorry for you @MiaN that you’re past the stage of discovery though it’s great you can decide what you’d like to purchase. I didn’t buy the Liberty scent kit even though I think I’d love the vanilla one, I’ve got so much to go through just with one scent kit and I want to know how they smell through the year. There’s some I think I don’t like but will keep trying them. I also can’t keep track of so many I don’t know how you @IDontHateRainbows do it!

Lurkingshark · 05/11/2024 07:47

Tom ford cafe rose - a tester and new. I like roses a LOT but we shall see

MiaN · 05/11/2024 07:52

To be honest I am ok with it, I am really fussy! With perfume advents I accept that I will like few and not most and as we shared them at home, we definitely got our value out of each. Plus my first ever sell was very positive experience and so easy, and as these are all high demand I feel it won't be so hard to swap or sell.

I think I need to up my 4 full bottles limit for the next 11 months (started month ago) to no more fragrance purchases for few months to get through things.

IDontHateRainbows · 05/11/2024 08:17

Loved Hera Reigns so it's a repeat today foe me.

AprilLady · 05/11/2024 08:55

Hi all. Back after a few days away. Mostly wore Chanel Comete (love the powdery cherry blossom scent) which I got in duty free, having tried it in store quite a few times over the past few months.

Today though, my very favourite classic scent, Guerlain’s Mitsouko for a long day of Teams calls.

@MiaN I’m also a fan of Delina La Rosee - my 75ml botttle is down to about 20ml, though I’ve had it for a while. Oriana is a like, rather than a love, but I’m keeping the Harrods bottle. My other love from PDM is actually Meliora, which I think quite underrated compared with Delina. Also on the fence on Queen of Silk, but POAL is a long time favourite - bought a full bottle after using up my original 10ml.

<spritzes and sidles in>

De-lurking to ask if this is related to previous MN Perfumistas (or was it MN Fragrantistas?) threads. I used to be on them for years and years but fell off due to real life going pear shaped. Are those threads still going? I can't see anything in S and B.

My memory is patchy but I can still remember some posters, and don't know if anyone is still here under name changes or the original threads are still going? I can't remember full names but I remember BattleAxe, Judy and Horses(?) and whoever used to wear By The Fireplace all the time Grin as we swapped some in real life, and lots of other posters but not their names. Bloody hell, just worked out it must have been pre 2020. I'm regaining a small sense of smell (ironically it wasn't Covid Hmm) and trying to pick up my life again so it would be lovely to re-connect.

SOTD is the perfume parlour dupe of Neroli Portofino in a completely pointless attempt to hang onto a none existent Summer. Also my A/W perfumes are still boxed up so it'll be odd to unbox that!

AprilLady · 05/11/2024 18:52

Hi @StillFloofyButWithLessScentSense this is a new scent thread - the old threads went very quiet when the OP stopped posting (I think she was having medical issues which meant she couldn’t use much perfume). Still

I had my Kayali discovery set arrive. I have tried three so far.

Pistachio Gelato - Very key lime pie on initial spray, the dry down is much better with a creamy tone and almond smell. The scent becomes faint too quickly and doesn't last two hours. i wont be buying again.

Lovefest Burning Cherry - I loved the initial strength of the cherry but felt it was too sickly with the raspberry note, on dry down very woodsy with only a ghost of a cherry scent. I probably wouldnt buy again as the raspberry was too sweet. I like the cherry scent

Vanilla 28 - A nice subtle vanilla, doesn't smell artificial, light and creamy. Again, doesn't last well, and quickly becomes a weak scent. Wouldn't rebuy due to weak scent/doesn't last long.

I think Kayali as a brand is going to fall flat for me. Any suggestions of good brands to try discovery sets for strong gourmand fragrances?

So I also need to find a strong cherry scented perfume which isn't overly sweet, has almond notes, lasts well. Any suggestions very welcomed.

I thought the vanilla one was BEAST MODE!

Have you tried killian I don't need a man by my side to be a princess? Silly name but it's a marshmallow green tea with a hint of ginger

MiaN · 05/11/2024 19:55

I am really pleasantly surprised how quick and easy is to sell perfumes I don't want form the advent calendars, and one I blind bought myself. I sold enough to fully cover Harvey Nichols advent and to cover some of the cost of Harrods.

I bought two cherry perfumes last year - 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition and Kayali Burning Cherry. One year later the 7 Virtues smells smokey only to me, and I sold it. The Kayali has gotten more lasting somehow and I am going to keep it, I actually decided I don't need Lost Cherry as I enjoy Burning Cherry more. They also have one from their summer edition - Capri in Bottle, it's nice lemon & vanilla gourmand - I like it better than the few mentioned below as it is little less sweet. Generally I don't love the brand and I have tried most of their range apart from oud and one or two more recent.

I am not vanilla/gourmand person to be honest but Lira Xerjoff is good and both D&G Devotion and Devotion Intense rival it. It somewhat lemon/vanilla pastry type of smell but it smells interesting. Gourmands are tricky, definitely try before buying and do full wear test too. I has spray of Sol De Janeiro 71 once to go to the dog park and someone said it smell like there is circus nearby - like popcorn and candy floss. I am too old to smell like candy, gave it to my niece but there are some more grown up gourmands out there.

Oh and I really enjoy Jo Malone Gingerbread this time of the year.
