What little updates are you adopting to stay current?

I'm trying to make a few changes to keep looking current; I thought it might be helpful for others to add theirs too. I have found it's very easy to suddenly take a look around and find that things have moved on without me noticing 😁, especially as I'm working with ever increasing younger colleagues.

Disclaimer- these are just observations, I am not saying they are all correct or that anyone has to do them.

• wide leg trousers instead of slim/skinny for work
• flat shoes for work
• sports socks instead of trainer socks
• less eyeshadow

Just reflecting on the fact that ‘a lot of middle aged people are wearing it’ seems to be used in a pejorative rather than factual way, sometimes.

Middle aged to me, used to be an insult that implied you’d not changed your look in 30 years. It’s a bit shitty if anyone’s being snide about a look ‘because middle aged people wear it’. If we’re lucky enough to get to middle age , then we will still have to wear clothes?

Middle age dressing for me is increasingly about hiding newly cropping up flaws I don’t much like which is not a great feeling. So some styles might appeal to an age group on that basis.

But I’m not taking on the bullshit that a look that I might like to wear should be avoided purely on the basis that other 40-70 year olds might like it or wear it too… That would sound silly and ageist, if that’s what people meant by that.

That PP (not going to tag them again as they've flounced) getting snippy about someone agreeing with her that their outfit was middle-aged made me desperately want to be rude about it. I restrained myself, but I think my HRT might want tweaking 😉

@OrganicKombucha those jeans look fab! I have an almost identical pair. Flattering for the shorter squarer amongst us.
