What little luxuries do you enjoy?

I get my nails done occasionally and would like to have more frequent massages. I’ve also bought a couple of decent work dresses for the summer this year. What do you do enjoy as a ‘luxury’?

I love my silk pillowcase. I didn't think I would but it so comfortable and soft to sleep on. I feel like a kid with a new teddy bear.

mondaytosunday · 25/05/2024 09:23

I have a facial every couple of months. I do it as it's relaxing and feels good.

Beatrixslobber · 25/05/2024 09:27

I don’t really see them as luxuries but I have a manicure every 3 weeks, I get the Liberty beauty drop and I buy nice things.

Commonsenseisnotsocommon · 25/05/2024 09:55

A good skin and make up routine daily. A frankincense facial spritz before bed. Good handcream daily. Luxurious bedding and towels. Favourite teabags daily and loose leaf at weekends. Lots of fresh organic vegetables and fruits. Quality clothing materials - linen, cotton and silk rather than anything synthetic. Lots more too but they're the regulars.

2 pairs of matching knickers when l buy a new bra.

Ginkypig · 25/05/2024 11:59

I’m not sure if all of these qualify as luxury but when I was properly poor these things wouldn’t even be on my radar as possible but

100% cotton bedding. Not necessarily the most expensive sets because as on gas I like it and it meets my requirements I’m happy but over the last 20 years iv bought several sets which just get better with age.

talking of which does anyone rate linen bedding? iv seen it but never tried it.

real butter Tesco or Lidl own brand is cheap at around 2.20 but that’s still twice the price of margarine so it feels like pushing the boat out it I’d never go back now.

There are very few branded products our household care about as we have done lots of testing to find alternatives over the years but currently can’t find anything to replace.
my coffee (although everyone drinks it but I choose what we’re drinking)
his tea bags (nobody else drinks tea)
branston beans (only he eats beans so his choice)

everything else we’re happy to compromise or be flexible in choice.

a takeaway on Saturday night while sharing a bottle of wine.

now I’m thinking about it though we don’t spend in lots of other areas just because of our lifestyle so money that would in other families might be going on a car or expensive mobile phones or foreign holidays or I don’t do my nails or go to the hairdresser or have beauty treatments etc so maybe that’s why I suppose.
although maybe if I did. Wouldn’t be a hot sweaty menopausal mess haha!

Regular coffee out with friends, usually about once a week and with DH once a week. Breakfast out once a month. Other than that we are dead cheap!

DH used to have a coffee pod machine but got too expensive so he invested in a barista machine and buys coffee from Sainsburys. Branded goods? My coffee (I don't drink tea), Heinz tomato sauce, Ritter chocolate. Nothing else. (Told you we were cheap! )

weareallqueens · 25/05/2024 12:07

Decent running leggings. There's no point in ones that you have to keep yanking up.

I've also started investing in nicer bedding.

Pollerono · 25/05/2024 13:51

Nice bedding makes me happy. I got nice white cotton and even just the look of it has made my bedroom relaxing.

Pollerono · 25/05/2024 13:53

Sorry style and beauty isn’t it, as I get older mine is nice bath products, nothing better for me than a lovely bath with something nice in it. Also nice make up now and then! A lovely lipstick is a nice treat, although I have too many!!

Cloud44 · 10/06/2024 20:50

Following for ideas!

buffyslayer · 10/06/2024 20:54

Expensive candles and bath stuff

If I had to pick it would be vieve or bougie boujees candles and vieve or Olverum bath stuff

MaGueule · 10/06/2024 20:55

Far too many!

Very good quality super king size duvet and lovely linen
L’occitaine bath soak
Nice, natural skincare products
Diptyque candles
Hair, nails, waxing done regularly
Cashmere knitwear
What DD describes as my ‘banging collection of Bridgewater mugs’
Toast pyjamas
Really good food, eating out
Tickets to shows and concerts
Many books

I work hard and we earn well. We have a lovely life. Austerity is not my style!

Hedgeoffressian · 10/06/2024 20:56

Nice shoes

theaL · 10/06/2024 20:57

Facial products. There's nothing nicer to me than going to bed with a cleansed face, tones and moisterised ☺️

theaL · 10/06/2024 20:57

Toned*

Gingernaut · 10/06/2024 20:58

Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste

Beats all the other 'sensitive' toothpastes into a locked hat

RosesAndHellebores · 10/06/2024 21:02

Nice skin care and make-up
Perfume
Neom pillow spray
Fresh flowers

dizzyupthegirl86 · 10/06/2024 21:05

a monthly massage
a monthly facial (albeit I’m between facialists at the mo)
expensive candles.

For some reason, these things just make me feel like I’ve got my shit together

whyamisotiredallthetime · 10/06/2024 21:18

I rotate when I get paid I have a facial one month , massage the next

Hair cut and tone is every 4 weeks
Eyebrows threaded same day

I love a nice deodorant 🤭
Like a mooch round Savers and Body Care

dothehokeycokey · 10/06/2024 21:42

A really good quality hot cloth cleanser

The full balance me skin care range which I use every night before bed

Expensive lash serum I use every night and keeps my lashes long.

Expensive soap, just treated myself to Chanel no 5 soap.

Expensive shower gel

Gel finger nails and toe nails

Hair extensions as I have really fine lank hair.

I don't wear loads of make up anymore but what I do use is expensive but worth every penny

M and s food. Never gets wasted in our house and their fresh baked bread is the best I've ever eaten.

Lurpak which I always buy on offer somewhere.

Seanbeansontoast · 10/06/2024 21:46

I do the same - it makes perf sense! 👌😁

Netcam · 10/06/2024 21:50

Good quality food. We get an organic box from Abel and Cole each week with really good quality fruit and veg, fish, a little meat sometimes, goats cheese, sauerkraut, sourdough bread, unhomogenised jersey milk, kefir, nuts and seeds. We don't eat out or get takeaways but I love having a fridge full of fantastic food at home.
