What little luxuries do you enjoy?

I get my nails done occasionally and would like to have more frequent massages. I’ve also bought a couple of decent work dresses for the summer this year. What do you do enjoy as a ‘luxury’?

Molton Brown shower gel.

RealHedgehog · 14/06/2024 12:53

Lancome mascara.

I will happily buy high street brand (Rimmel Maybelline etc) for the rest of my makeup. I get that it might be unusual to some- most people would rather a cheaper mascara and more expensive foundation or skincare.

But I do feel and see a big difference in my face when I use my fancy mascara. Having big long dark lashes makes me feel like the Caramel Bunny 😊even when it's pouring with rain and I need to take the bins out.

I have a stoma since last October due to cancer and my diet is extremely limited now e.g mashed potatoes and Supernoodles every single day. Every afternoon I have a decaff cappuccino and it honestly feels like such a luxury.

londonmummy1966 · 14/06/2024 13:26

Diptyque candles
Fresh flowers in the hall and sitting room each week
Cologne and Cotton bedding as it feels so silky when I get in.
Everyday plates and bowls are beautiful floral vintage numbers that I pick up in antiques markets and charity shops as and when I see them. I started when DC were little so it wouldn't matter if something broke as nothin g matched anyway. At the moment the plate I use is a lovely Georgian Derby number with lots of full blown roses around the border. (Not an expensive luxury as it was only about £8 bit it is so lovely it makes me smile).
Buying Whispering Angel by the case so I never run out....

TheOriginalMrsMoss · 14/06/2024 13:38

Great skincare - Elemis mainly plus some Lancome are my favourites
Lovely, fragrant soap
Earl Grey tea (although I've discovered Aldi's is my favourite - nicer than Tea Pigs!)
Nice sourdough bread (although I can make this)
Comfortable shoes/sandals/trainers - I don't mind spending money on this
I update my wardrobe each season with some nice things

I do my own hair colour with salon products, facials, mani/pedis but buy good quality products. I really enjoy doing it.

I have no problem at all treating myself! It's basic self-care with nice products.

Franticbutterfly · 14/06/2024 13:43

Acupuncture and massages.

Is it this 2.5 tog one or is there another? https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-natural-collection-hungarian-goose-down-duvet-2-5-tog/p3643528

Going to hairdresser every 6 weeks for cut & highlights, after years of DIY box hair dye at home. Costs a fortune but I’ve been saving for it by buying some amazing clothes from Vinted instead of new.

Reading the thread with interest as I fully plan to treat myself more in future! Definitely going to start by buying more theatre tickets.

BollockstoThis1 · 14/06/2024 14:06

L’occitaine lemon soap in shower.
Nice cleanser, toner and moisturiser.
DH just purchased a nice coffee machine (Gaggia)so coffees at home are nicer than coffees out.
Having gelish on my toes. It looks good and lasts ages.
Wondering about a nice facial but can’t decide what type to have done?
Also I am a nail biter really need to have some hand nail treatments again.

What benefits have you found from accupuncture @Franticbutterfly ?

In the past I have found it gives me my mojo back when I feel flat.

I went this time because my nervous system is very unregulated. My H cheated on me again and I’ve been really struggling to calm down and think clearly. I have found that it has moved me out of panic mode. I’m not shaking (as much) upon waking and feel generally a lot calmer. It’s not a complete solution, but is definitely helping with the somatic effects of trauma.

Cloud44 · 17/06/2024 15:11

@Silverfoxette are there any hair products you would recommend?

Augustus40 · 17/06/2024 15:27

I indulge in good quality skincare and make up daily.

I also play piano weekly at home which is a top hobby. I am very grateful I can play so w ell.

chesterlestreet · 17/06/2024 16:24

@Rina66 any links to the leather pouches please?

Chocolatepeanutbuttercupsandicecream · 17/06/2024 16:31

I get my nails done every few weeks (acrylics) and my hair cut and coloured every 2-3 months. I buy Clinique tinted moisturiser and use it as foundation.

Rina66 · 17/06/2024 17:02

I buy them from various places @chesterlestreet but I have some A5 sized ones from Aspinal and Katie Loxton. My small metallic ones for pills, tweezers etc are from Amazon.
Etsy and Not On The High Street do good monogrammed ones too.

Can I ask you which one you you would recommend?

tahinitoast · 17/06/2024 17:20

Elemis cleansing balm, moisturiser twice daily, slathering whole body with cocoa butter, gel nails, Silk Pillow cases, hair and eyebrow tints, whitening Toothpaste, shave my legs twice a week, batch cooking from scratch, getting enough sleep, regular exercise, wearing dresses most days, stockings and heels in colder weather, lipstick! 💄 Coco Madamoiselle Parfum every day.

HansHolbein · 17/06/2024 18:09

White Company bedding. Chanel bar soap. Chanel make up.

Arraminta · 17/06/2024 20:38

Yes, I think so. But I bought ours maybe two years ago?

Mintygreenleaf · 18/06/2024 09:07

@Ophy83 can I ask what your lovely French chocolates are please? 😋

KohlaParasaurus · 18/06/2024 09:46

Nice ground coffee. Since it doesn't keep, getting towards the end of a bag and choosing which one I'm going to buy next is a bit of excitement every couple of weeks. I'd like a bean to cup machine, but the kitchen doesn't have enough countertop space and I haven't come up with an imaginative solution yet.

Hand made soap.

Good quality sports kit. If expensive carbon-fibre-plated running shoes look ludicrous on someone of my age and (lack of) talent, nobody's said it to my face so far.

SparklingMountain · 18/06/2024 12:20

just added another nicety to my life the L'occitaine Almond shower gel, which I believe was recommended on here, it is lovely!

and just put a remind me when back in stock for the John Lewis goose duvet recommendation.

Am wondering if acupuncture can stop your brain from overthinking far too much non stop, will look in to it.
