What little luxuries do you enjoy?

I get my nails done occasionally and would like to have more frequent massages. I’ve also bought a couple of decent work dresses for the summer this year. What do you do enjoy as a ‘luxury’?

Expensive skincare. I'm too old to skimp on it now!

familyissues12345 · 13/06/2024 22:05

I love skin care and treat myself to the occasional glossy box. I used to get it regularly but got fed up of the repetitiveness of it all, so I now wait for a good offer!

I also like treating myself to nice wax melts. Nothing too heavy, but love a gentle spa like smell

Far too many!

Very good quality super king size duvet and lovely linen
L’occitaine bath soak
Nice, natural skincare products
Diptyque candles
Hair, nails, waxing done regularly
Cashmere knitwear
What DD describes as my ‘banging collection of Bridgewater mugs’
Toast pyjamas
Really good food, eating out
Tickets to shows and concerts
Many books

I work hard and we earn well. We have a lovely life. Austerity is not my style!

What do you do for a living if u don't mind me asking , I need to get a better paid job!😊

French candles
High thread count sheets
Ouai hair products
Aromatherapy massage (hardly ever get one but I love them so much!)
Nice bath products (white company, Lush)
Spendy perfume (Penhaligons)

tillyandmilly · 13/06/2024 22:14

treats are - I have a decent coffee each day from my Lavazza coffee machine - i go out for lunch 4 days of the week - treat myself to Aesop face moisturiser and handwash and buying my food shopping at M & S on Saturdays for the weekend!

Flowers in the house. If not from my garden, am happy with supermarket.
Nice handwash
Estée Lauder

Absolutely love the banging collection of mugs! 😂 @MaGueule

For me, I stopped saving my nice things for a special occasion. Got a lovely bottle of champagne from work? Crack it open on a regular Friday with a bowl of crisps and stick on a movie. Wedding China? Use it for my morning cuppa and put a little biscuit on the side. Not doing anything on a random Monday night? Have a bubble bath with the fancy bath bombs and slip into the silk pjs.
Being alive is the most special occasion there is, after all.

Need to learn to do the same

Cocopogo · 13/06/2024 22:41

Liz Earle cleanse and polish every evening
Spa day with a facial and back massage every 6 months
Coffee and cake most days from naice cafe

This is me! Anything nice I get I use! No saving it for a special occasion, that might never come.

Decent running leggings. There's no point in ones that you have to keep yanking up.

I've also started investing in nicer bedding.

What brand would you recommend?

pinksheetss · 13/06/2024 23:00

Botox

beonmycalls · 13/06/2024 23:07

Ooo I like this thread a lot!

For me it's lovely, crisp and ironed white sheets

My make up. But I have always used the same stuff since a teenager! Estée Lauder Grin

Nice bubble bath

Linen robe for the summer

My White company diffuser and Seychelles oils

I light a candle when having a kitchen reset etc in the evening. Feels like a treat

Nice, white timeless mug to have my coffee in

Eyebrows done

Gel pedicure

Bottled water! Sounds simple but I can't drink tap water 🤢

Redbulls...

beonmycalls · 13/06/2024 23:09

Will also add my dog to the list. Cuddling him and breathing in his scent is so lovely. He's a very clean breed and bathed with a dog shampoo that's called 'baby powder'

He also has a baby powder cologne for dogs Grin

I recently invested in a new skincare ‘range’. Is that what you call it? I mean when all the products are from the same company! I’ve got myself the cleanser, toner and moisturizer (day moisturizer with SPF and a night moisturizer), as well as serum. It’s from Tropic which I know is marmite on here but I actually love it. I buy from a friend who is not pushy with it AT ALL and I’m not and never will be an ‘ambassador’ . I used to just buy cheap face wash and whatever moisturizer was on offer at the supermarket so to me it feels really luxurious to have a whole range and it also looks really lovely in my bathroom!

ItsOnlyJustBegun · 13/06/2024 23:19

My silk duvet
my dressing gown collection… any excuse to wear one!
Im spending a lot on peonies at the moment… my favourite flower

Perfectlystill · 13/06/2024 23:19

My nice hand cream (Aesop) and nice body cream (Malin & Goestz)

My new Bridgewater mug for my tea in bed every morning.

stayathomer · 13/06/2024 23:33

Boots tea tree foot spray!
Aldi have a dupe for the Sanctuary shower gel, only two euro ninety nine for a large bottle
getting hair done, the bit where the warm water trickles down and you close your eyes
new socks with your slippers!

Inappropriacy · 13/06/2024 23:56

A bath. Not often I get chance, usually only have time to shower. But a bath is a real luxury to me. Having the time to lie there just relaxing alone.

Disneydatknee88 · 14/06/2024 00:01

I do love a self care Sunday. Bubble bath, face mask and I've got a home wax kit I do every so often. I treat myself to a "posh" coffee once a week which is just a coffee and a caramel creamer which feels luxurious because its £8 a jar off amazon so I use it sparingly!

missb10 · 14/06/2024 00:29

I can't afford any of these "little luxuries". However, I do have Sky television!😆

Hellodarknessmyfriend · 14/06/2024 00:44

Getting my hair cut once a year (usually in summer hols as work in a school) 😀

Lavenderandbrown · 14/06/2024 01:05

I pick most items with care…my hand soap body soap towels lines dishes tea cups cleaning products clothes. I find a lot of joy in the aesthetic of each item and it has to be just the right shape smell and look. But I don’t consider those luxuries just everyday items I select with intention. My luxury is my monthly facial. The aesthetician is fabulous and he’s very generous with product he’s strong and really works my neck and scalp and my skin looks so pretty after it. I always wanted a monthly facial and after I went grey and my cleaner quit (both due to covid) and I freed up all that money I started the monthly facial. 2 yrs in

Friendofdennis · 14/06/2024 01:37

the everyday things … I make sure they give me pleasure with their design or beauty or scent. So hand wash is always something that smells amazing ( often from tk maxx ) currently a french brand which is orange blossom scented. My front door keys are on a tag which is made of felted wool with a pretty floral design every time I use my keys it makes me happy to see and feel this pretty thing. Some lovely food - smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast now and again. The good quality Greek yoghourt from aldi with orange blossom honey, toasted almond flakes and pomegranate seeds. I try to build one little treats like this into my day every day.

Frasers · 14/06/2024 01:54

I have white sheets on our bed, and I always bought cheap bedding from Amazon. Like ten pounds for a sheet or a duvet cover. Basically as I’m a bit tight. I decided to treat us, and buy some 1000 tc Egyptian cotton bedding, and wow. What a difference. It’s so lovely.

i also get really nice shower gel, hand soap , and hand cream, for the bathrooms/loos, they cost a lot, but last ages, and it just feels so lovely, and such a treat compared to the Baylis and Harding crap I have in the kitchen,

i also gave to charity all my old mugs and bought some Emma bridgewater ones, at 25 pounds a pop , it was a huge extravagance, but so worth it, we like drinking from them, as do any visitors,
