What little luxuries do you enjoy?

I get my nails done occasionally and would like to have more frequent massages. I’ve also bought a couple of decent work dresses for the summer this year. What do you do enjoy as a ‘luxury’?

I bought a lovely new build house and managed to sell my furniture from my old house.. My luxury last month was to buy all new furniture, decorations, plus crockery, bedding and towels. Everything in that house was old and mud matched. I saved for ages to have this once in a life time luxury, plus done inheritance.

i get my eyebrows tinted and shaped once a month. I get a monthly glossy box. Now thinking of getting nails done. I feel more put together.

https://www.soakandsleep.com/luxury-egyptian-400-thread-count-cotton-bedding.html I get mine from here @Seanbeansontoast , they last ages, I've had some 10 years and they are still great and have got softer with wear.

Thank you

One of my favourite things to do is a lunch time walk on my own leaving the office and walking down to a coffee shop don't tell anybody I'm doing it as they will invite themselves I don't want no small talk just my maciato!

MissyB1 · 12/06/2024 20:27

I have short thick (mad!) hair which I get cut every six weeks.
Phillip Kingsley shampoo and conditioner, can't use any old stiff as my hair is so dry and frizzy.
Ouoi hair oil and morrocon oil smoothing lotion for the same reason.

Pigtailsandall · 12/06/2024 22:35

Fresh bread and croissants from an amazing bakery around the corner

Good skincare (particularly serums) and perfumes

Hand-wash as that's something you use several times a day - Aesop and Haeckels are my favourites

Linen bedding

Good coffee from decent coffee shops

Random but have you tried the imperial leather oud? It's lovely!

Arraminta · 13/06/2024 08:57

Silk pillowcases from Bedeck
Hungarian white goose down quilt
Monthly gel pedicure
Fortnightly Shellac manicure
UK Lash eyelash serum every night
REN skincare
Professional teeth whitening every couple of years
Professional waxing every six weeks
Books from the Folio Society
We eat out several times a week, otherwise groceries from M&S

Cantabulous · 13/06/2024 09:05

Fresh flowers
Getting my car valeted

Meadowfinch · 13/06/2024 09:06

Decent unsliced wholemeal bread with a crust, that actually tastes of bread, not depressing white blotting paper from a plastic bag.

Real butter
Super fresh salad (home grown)
Home made jam

Pure cotton bedlinen
Good quality shampoo & soap

Starlight1979 · 13/06/2024 09:12

Takeaway coffee 3 days a week (when I'm in the office)
Bedfolk bedding
Diptyque candles
Skandinavisk diffusers
Neals Yard or Aesop handwash and hand cream
Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules

Other than that, one really good - no expense spared - holiday a year (we're off to Greece next week for 2 weeks island hopping!), the occasional M&S shop (Aldi for the big shops and wine though) a Friday or Saturday night takeaway and a bunch of flowers from the supermarket once a week. 😊

Starlight1979 · 13/06/2024 09:14

Also I love feelgood threads like this and feel fortunate that we are in a position where we can have these luxuries, no matter how small they may be 😊

Expensive candles and bath stuff

If I had to pick it would be vieve or bougie boujees candles and vieve or Olverum bath stuff

Oooh I love new candle recomendations. I go to Diptyque every time but have heard of Bougie Boujee - are they worth it? And can you actually smell them when burning?

buffyslayer · 13/06/2024 10:14

@Starlight1979 100% - I find them really strong! They're one of the only candles that properly scent for me

This is their website

I love a trip to Savers on a Friday afternoon to choose a new hand soap, usually Pears.

Compared to that I have just gone massively overboard this very morning and ordered four necklaces from Oliver Bonas. I'll only keep one.

Also, my son has got me into seaweed shampoo and I now use both the shampoo and conditioner. £23 each!

suki1964 · 13/06/2024 10:21

Egyptian cotton bed linen

Same for towels

Unfortunately the goose down duvet is too hot for me now so is relegated to the spare room but its like sleeping wrapped in a cloud

Coffee beans and my coffee machine

My nail gels ( Ive always done my own )

Butter ( its a rare treat now cos I tend to slice it on rather then spread it )

Sitting in the hot tub when its below freezing outside and just star gazing listening to music

Getting my eyebrows threaded

We have a Winter weight goose down duvet, but now using the Summer weight one which is only 2 tog and it's perfect.

verylongday · 13/06/2024 20:30

A new book, a cup of tea, feet up on the sofa and my dog on my lap.

Somethingsgotthagive · 13/06/2024 20:49

Love this thread. Currently trying hard to save for a house so we don't have many luxuries at all but things that make me happy and I want to resume in the future are:

  • high quality skincare
  • nice quality, durable clothes that fit well
  • dining out in the weekend
  • lovely fabrics for the home: bed linen, cushions, nice rugs etc
  • perfumes

Im of the age where some nights even skin is too hot :)

Not too long ago that I snuggled into a feather mattress, the down duvet and brushed cotton sheets. Now the body heat of DH can have me up all night :(

flamebrick · 13/06/2024 21:58

Absolutely love the banging collection of mugs! 😂 @MaGueule

For me, I stopped saving my nice things for a special occasion. Got a lovely bottle of champagne from work? Crack it open on a regular Friday with a bowl of crisps and stick on a movie. Wedding China? Use it for my morning cuppa and put a little biscuit on the side. Not doing anything on a random Monday night? Have a bubble bath with the fancy bath bombs and slip into the silk pjs.
Being alive is the most special occasion there is, after all.

Citrusandginger · 13/06/2024 21:59

Completely agree with lovely Egyptian cotton bedding. Especially luxurious when it's been washed & dried in the sun. (Remember - it used to appear at this time of year back in the day). The smell of sun on cotton is so joyful.

Pre children I always used to buy new underwear to go with new outfits, and I've finally got enough disposable income to do this again. I've even recently bought a half slip to go under a new dress and it sits so much better.

A really good quality hot cloth cleanser

The full balance me skin care range which I use every night before bed

Expensive lash serum I use every night and keeps my lashes long.

Expensive soap, just treated myself to Chanel no 5 soap.

Expensive shower gel

Gel finger nails and toe nails

Hair extensions as I have really fine lank hair.

I don't wear loads of make up anymore but what I do use is expensive but worth every penny

M and s food. Never gets wasted in our house and their fresh baked bread is the best I've ever eaten.

Lurpak which I always buy on offer somewhere.

I too have fine thin hair getting worse since menopause. Can I ask what sort of extensions you have? I'm considering them but worried about my hair snapping.

ZaraCC · 13/06/2024 22:02

OP, can you clarify whether it is budget or more upmarket?
