ra ra shirt and matching jumper, grey and red stripe, circa 1982

Ndd135632 · 03/04/2024 22:53

Was just coming into say a ra ra skirt! And drain pipe jeans. Lace fingerless gloves. Neon nail varnish. 1980s obvs !

KohlaParasaurus · 03/04/2024 22:55

A denim-coloured poplin trouser suit with a delicate floral embroidery design on the pockets. I don't think it was ever fashionable, but it was the most stylish outfit I owned when I was dependent upon my mother choosing and buying my clothes. The purple dungarees with HAVE A NICE DAY on the bib come a close second.

A hacking jacket with elbow patches worn with a Victorian style cream blouse and cords. Tbh I'd still wear it now, nearly fifty years later!

DSD9472 · 03/04/2024 23:00

Not a fashion item at all, but a dress when I was 4/5 which flared out when I spun around. I always wanted to wear it, even when I'd outgrown it and my knickers could apparently be seen! 😳

TimoteiChaletpants · 03/04/2024 23:01

Blue rara dress with rabbit print
then later suede pixie boots

Ndd135632 · 03/04/2024 23:07

Argh pixie boots. And jelly shoes. We had it good fashion wise in the 80s didn’t we.

junebirthdaygirl · 03/04/2024 23:13

Elephant flared jeans and platform shoes in the late 70s bought from my hard earned weekend job. And miniskirt with leg warmers!! Saved every penny to chase fashion!

Beebumble2 · 03/04/2024 23:13

Mary Quant dress, given to me by one of my mum
s friends ( pre owned by them). I wish I’d kept it!

Isabelle70 · 03/04/2024 23:18

Not prized but I think my first fashion items were burgundy velvet knickerbockers with a white lace lady Diana blouse.

Mumof1andacat · 03/04/2024 23:32

I had a pair of adidas 3 striped tracksuits bottoms as a 14 yr old in 1998. I wore them for non uniforn day at school. People were jealous

DrJoanAllenby · 04/04/2024 00:23

When I was a teenager circa 1982 there was a beautiful navy velvet coat on display in Laura Ashley. I was with my parents and my father saw how transfixed I was staring at it and bought it for me.

It was floor length and a riding coat style.

I loved that coat.

My older sister was bought a similar one in a wine colour from another shop.

When I was 16, in the early 80s, I went to the King's Road in Chelsea and bought a pair of red suede, lace up pixie boots ( with a little heel). OMG I LOVED them! And wore them so much. I kept them for years until I couldn't reheel them anymore. You'd never find anything like that anymore.

ohschno · 04/04/2024 00:32

A sailor dress. Quite the thing c1983.

Discovering that khaki clothes seemed to go well with red accessories. I don't think they do and I don't suit khaki but I loved the vibe for the Saturday night youth club at the time.

GellerYeller · 04/04/2024 00:37

Red metallic leather court shoes, low heeled, with a bow on the front. Freeman Hardy Willis(!)

Northernsouloldies · 04/04/2024 02:55

A boating blazer from a tailors shop cost £36 in 81.

savethatkitty · 04/04/2024 03:04

An Umbro tracksuit. Circa 1992/1993.

JaneIves · 04/04/2024 03:14

A pair of chunky loafer style DMs from Shelley's around 1990/91.
Saved up from a Saturday job in a bakers.
Not sure what I prized the most, the DMs or the Shelley's drawstring bag.

NeedToKnow101 · 04/04/2024 03:16

My brown flares with elephant patches on the knees (I was only aged 3). Later on it was a gilet and my prized pixie boots.

TuesdayWhistler · 04/04/2024 06:12

New rock boots. They had metal heels and laces and buckles. They were so comfortable too.

WhereAreWeNow · 04/04/2024 06:15

My cerise rara skirt.

Friend2023 · 04/04/2024 06:16

My Naffco 54 jacket
Adidas poppers tracksuit bottoms
United colours of Benneton sweatshirt

Those were the days lol

mondaytosunday · 04/04/2024 06:37

I had these floral jeans which I loved. Also a crochet vest top (yes, it was the 1970s), but I think my favourite was a pink floral Laura Ashley dress. Loved the pattern and colour.

ImWearingPantaloons · 04/04/2024 06:40

A sweatshirt from Benetton.

So expensive at the time

Queenofwistfulthinking · 04/04/2024 06:44

My Mickey Mouse baseball jacket
