My tall slender friend had Gloria Vanderbilt jeans in every colour. She looked the bees knees in them

Coastalcreeksider · 08/04/2024 19:41

A burgundy colour belted midi coat, it was a birthday present and it was roughly 1970. I felt so sophisticated wearing it, I was around 15 then.

WaftherAngelsthroughtheskies · 08/04/2024 19:50

Anything from Benetton- I would look longingly at all the different coloured jumpers if we had an exciting trip to Exeter. But top of the list was the blue and white Benetton rugby shirt.

Tallisker · 09/04/2024 16:54

I had a pair of pale blue dungarees which I ADORED. I wore them with a white batwing top underneath, skinny red belt and either red heels or red Kickers depending on how much walking I was going to be doing. Just loved them.

As a teen I wore long patterned skirts with frilly petticoats visible underneath, and pixie boots.

Also brogues, tweed trousers and chunky knits with my beloved Barbour. And a flat cap or a tweed hat. Still have the brogues and the Barbour somewhere.

TunaCrunchy · 09/04/2024 17:44

Can I have three?

White leather jacket, matching mini skirt and baby think cloth pixie boots.

I remember Sharon from Eastenders had the same jacket.

Blingismything · 09/04/2024 19:48

My Levi's denim jacket

tracktrail · 09/04/2024 19:50

1970s, blue and white campri nylon bomber jacket. Loved it and was gutted when I outgrew it.

Not prized but I think my first fashion items were burgundy velvet knickerbockers with a white lace lady Diana blouse.

Snap. How to look 55 at 13

hazeydays14 · 09/04/2024 19:57

My Paul’s boutique bag.. leopard print with one of those huge keyring things on it
My mum refused to buy it for me because they were expensive so I ended up in an unarranged overdraft for it 😅 oh to be 15 again..

Notellinganyone · 09/04/2024 19:58

When I was 15, so 1983. A white Laura Ashley tennis dress like a white gym tunic. I loved that dress! Also green suede pixie boots and bright pink jeans!

justasking111 · 09/04/2024 20:34

Dorothy Perkins did Laura Ashley knock offs. I had two maxi dresses, empire line, puffed sleeves, very Jane Austen.

Roselovescoffee · 09/04/2024 22:12

Flared jeans and a cheesecloth tie up shirt. Worn with multi coloured platform shoes.

ZaraEarrings · 09/04/2024 22:14

Nirvana t-shirt
denim jacket
docs
Maxi skirt

Quite similar to what’s back in fashion now!

Deathraystare · 10/04/2024 11:15

Cannot think of anything fashionable. Mum bought anything ("It is grey for school isn't it?") until I went out to work. It was hard growing up to buy anything remotely fashionable as I was overweight! I did buy a green and white striped blouse and pleated skirt which was meh but there you go.

I used to buy stuff from C&A so may have looked ok some of the time. I remember buying a pair of mock suede boots from somewhere in a shit dusty pink colour. This was pre Primark so must have been another cheap store.

I remember an aunt bought me a n orangey crocheted dress with a gold chai belt which I liked.

A hacking jacket with elbow patches worn with a Victorian style cream blouse and cords. Tbh I'd still wear it now, nearly fifty years later!

Was coming on to say exactly the same! I think about 1978 and the jacket was from C&A.......obviously!

OutingPosts · 10/04/2024 12:07

@Aussiegold mine was all Chelsea Girl, I saved up all my pay from my after school job 😁

savethatkitty · 10/04/2024 22:11

I've just thought of another. Well, 2 actually. Maroon corduroy jeans. I thought I was the shiz. And a raspberry beret. Man I was a git when I was younger ;-)

You sound the shiz, to be fairSmile

LunaNorth · 11/04/2024 11:34

My ‘Fame’ sweatshirt and matching skirt, in fetching burgundy.

Black beret.

Later on my DMs.

henlake7 · 11/04/2024 11:51

My black and white houndstooth mens jacket I got from a charity shop and loved to bits (that I wore with a gold pig brooch attached to the lapel)....
holy god, it was hideous!!LOL

Sgtmajormummy · 11/04/2024 12:02

My strapless white satin University Ball dress 1986.
It had a black flocked design and a poofy net underskirt. Not floor length but mid calf. I wore it with a black angora bolero and black flats.
Under disco lights it turned ultraviolet white and made me look as if I had a great tan(!).
The only thing I’ve ever bought from Jaeger but I wore it a lot.

Dietlady58 · 12/05/2024 20:20

Mister Tom!

I went through phases. At one point, it was those popper tracksuit bottoms 🤢. For shame!

Later, I had a pearl embellished denim skirt which I loved a lot.

At about 18/19 I started wearing jeans and my dad's massive old jumpers with a full face of make up and hair 😂. I don't know why, but that's what I liked wearing 🤷‍♀️. Sort of old man chic. I still lean that way if I'm honest.

Old man chic made me laugh:)
Can't think of anything stand out. A princess coat in dark blue I think with a rara skirt under it.

greengreyblue · 12/09/2024 06:54

When I was 15/16 in the mid 80s we used to wear cotton boxer shorts over knickers as shorts. We’d team it with a cropped vest and one of our dad’s cotton shirts left open. I think we were influenced my Madonna in Deaperately Seeking Susan.
