I distinctly remember being taken to a goth shop called Cobwebs in Stockport back in the 90's which was like aladdins cave for spookily inclined teenagers and being allowed to pick out an outfit as a birthday present. I chose a white shirt with a massive lace frill down the front, a black velvet high/low skirt with lace trim and a pair of black and purple striped tights. I miss that skirt. Other than that I also loved my criminal damage baggy jeans, my wallet chain and coffin shaped wallet and of course my Doc Martens. Can't wear them now as they cut my feet to ribbons and I'm just not prepared to put in the work with them.

A black sequin stretch mini skirt from my clubbing days in the early nineties.

I had some amazing clothes which I wish I'd kept for nostalgia purposes.

i also had a black silk pyjama style trouser suit that i used to wear with a white scoop neck body suit.

Great days.

New rock boots. They had metal heels and laces and buckles. They were so comfortable too.

New rock boots are the best, wish I could afford a pair now😂

Loopsielou · 04/04/2024 07:18

High plastic backless mules like the ones worn in Grease

babaisyou · 04/04/2024 07:19

Skechers were a lot cooler when I was growing up and I had a chunky sparkly pair which I loved!

WoodBurningStov · 04/04/2024 07:26

My cerise rara skirt.

Cerise! There was a time at my school that everything had to be cerise coloured! Not heard it mentioned in so long, thanks for the memories.

MaMisled · 04/04/2024 18:59

My Peg jeans, ' pegs'! I got my Mum to sew red piping down the outside seams and wore with low red court shoes. I swear, I thought I was the coolest 80s chick EVER!!!

Hopperinhawkins · 04/04/2024 19:01

Patrick ewing trainers. I was cool.

Sunquest · 04/04/2024 19:02

Flared Levis worn with a tied at the waste cheesecloth shirt and an Afgan coat that stank when it got wet. My mum used to moan like mad about my stinking coat. Although all the patchouli oil I wore probably didn't help.

SevenSeasOfRhye · 04/04/2024 19:04

A cerise silk shirt from Chelsea Girl that I wore untucked with a wide white plastic belt - I thought this combination was the biz!

OldTinHat · 04/04/2024 19:08

Bangles. So many bangles!

NormaSnickers · 04/04/2024 19:11

Great thread! I loved my reversible 101 Dalmatians padded sweatshirt, and when I was a bit older I saved my pocket money to buy a t-shirt that changed colour with heat - Global Hypercolour or something??

Omg, I think I had a Dalmations sweatshirt like that!

In the 90s I loved my lime green V neck tight top with bright blue piping! I possibly had an orange one too...

When I was about 6 years old, I remember a shopping trip with my mum in Town. We went to Woolworths & there was this dress, with butterflies printed on it & a skinny PVC belt around the waist. I can still see it on the hanger & remember the moment I saw it. Only, it came in blue or pink. And I couldn’t choose! So, my mum bought me both. Which was unheard of in those days. I loved those dresses, and brought them on holidays to Butlins that summer, worn with those sandals we all had (and frillly ankle socks, of course!)

DerekFaker · 04/04/2024 19:28

Purple suede Kicker boots.

And some jeans with Garfield the cartoon cat on them.

Time40 · 04/04/2024 21:32

My mum's 50s black velvet cocktail dress. I've still got it, but it's too well-loved to wear now. My mum's 50s orange polka-dot summer dress (likewise). A pair of red ribbed satin pointed flat shoes from Curtess. A 20s velvet leopard print coat that I got in a jumble sale for 2p ... I wore it so much it's got bald patches, and I'm hanging on to it, in the hope I'm going to copy it one day. A beige 40s teddy bear fur swing coat, which I wore until it also got bald patches.

NahNeedsGarlic · 04/04/2024 21:34

Ra ra skirt.

daffodilfan · 04/04/2024 21:36

A jumper with purple stripes that kind if blended into each other.

It cost £25 from Richard Shops in 1984 - my mum lent me the money and when I passed my O Levels she said I didn't need to pay her back 🤗.

Ineedanewsofa · 04/04/2024 21:39

Pre teen - a white hanky hem type skirt with neon fruit print on it
Teen - 2 ‘going out’ tops from Jane Norman, one was a skin tight strappy vest that looked like it was painted on, the other was a tiny bit of fabric with sequins on that was held together by sparkly string (and optimism). Plus I got the carrier bag of dreams for taking books to school in 🤣

FindingMeno · 04/04/2024 21:40

A red off-shoulder mohair jumper.

Dinnerlady12 · 04/04/2024 21:42

My gold jewellery. Especially my two fingered ring with my name.
