A Mary Quant monochrome op-art mini-dress from Carnaby Street. It was1966 and I was 14 and put it on for my father's funeral with white plastic boots that you rolled up your leg. My Aunt was horrified and bundled me into my brown school mac as we left the house. I think I was a difficult teen.

Unico bags from State of Independence. Mid 90’s when in 1st year at academy.

greasypolemonkeyman · 04/04/2024 21:52

My Bauer roller boots, do they count? I loved those so much.

The most prized clothing was a black Nike shell suit and a pair of Reebok pump cross trainers. I paid for them myself with 10 weeks worth of baby sitting money and I paid £130 including a t shirt. Would have been 1993 and I was 13/14.

One of these bought in 1982/3 (can't remember exactly!) on a school skiing trip in Italy. It cost £15 which was pretty much all my spending money for the whole trip. I wore it to death!

My ra ra skirt and my wrangler jacket, ( 1982 / 83). Oh, and my ET jumper and my legwarmers.

LetMeGoogleThat · 04/04/2024 22:02

A laced up back bondage skirt from Phaze.... it was my black era 🤣

Dietlady58 · 04/04/2024 22:02

A purple midi Biba coat with large matching straw hat. £8 for both. It was the early 1970s and I thought I was pretty cool!

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 04/04/2024 22:04

I also had a padded sweatshirt that had a Mickey Mouse black and white cartoon comic book style sequence on one side, and a picture of Mickey Mouse on the front on the other side. I used to roll the sleeves up. This was about 1986. I think my mum got it for me for Christmas and it was a massive treat as it was a bit more than £20. Quite a lot for 1986 for a kids jumper when I think about it. I loved it.

I wore it with black ski pants with under the foot stirrups.

A drop waisted ra ra dress circa 1982. Wore it to discos with a head band that had multi coloured sequin leaves dangling from it. Later , circa 1985, a pair of bath shrunk Levi’s worn with a. blue and white T- shirt and scarf in hair in a Bananarama style.

Burgundy velvet loons, worn with a burgundy cotton smock with a tiny dark floral print, balloon sleeves and narrow velvet trim, bought in a trendy independent boutique, along with burgundy platform shoes. It was circa 1972, I was almost a teenager and felt amazingly grown up. I still have the top!

justasking111 · 04/04/2024 22:20

My Ossie Clark dress found in a boutique. Wore it for years, regret getting rid of it. Was £20 I think. They're selling for a lot more at auction.

burgundy empire line mini dress from miss selfridge, worn with an ultra bra for maximum cleavage, natch

blondie285 · 04/04/2024 22:38

Skirt with built in vest attached. My mum loved putting me in them 😅

PollyPetunia · 04/04/2024 22:47

Age 8 some sandals worn for a mixed race wedding in the 80s which the bride and groom's families boycotted - the groom was my father's colleague. I look back on the wedding as being great fun for me and my sister and the other kids and my bloody fabulous lilac mini heeled sandals and velvet head band
I didn't understand why we'd been invited but it makes me sad now that we probably made up the numbers

moolady1977 · 04/04/2024 22:50

My doc martens and my long black mac, I'd wear them with everything until I grew out of them . I still wear Doc martens now and have never found anything as comfortable as they are

Omg this was my favourite too! Absolutely loved this reversible sweater. I think they were M&S.

£300 fluffy black Kookai coat.

No idea what happened to it!

And does Kookai still exist?

Giggorata · 04/04/2024 23:20

My beautiful Biba dress, purple with bell sleeves.
My patchwork leather high boots from Kensington Market.
A maxi black velvet coat
A purple soft suede shoulder bag, with really long fringes

i don't think I liked anything much I was dressed in when I was very young.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/04/2024 23:29

A calf length vintage 70s sheepskin coat, which had a tie belt kind of dressing gown style. I was about 19 - uni age - and found it in a shop that did tattoos and piercings and sold a small amount of vintage/alternative clothing. The guy who ran the shop sometimes drank in my local, where I had a bar job, so he knocked a bit off the price and I was delighted. I wore it with long skirts, chunky cardis, and DM boots. Student in the 90s, obvs.

Ooh Kookai. Could only afford a small bag but I adored it

Disneydatknee88 · 05/04/2024 00:54

The early 2000s version of parachute trousers. They were really baggy cargo trousers with like tassle fabric on them. I thought they were the shiz. Bought 2 pairs from Tammy girl in different colours.

BigPimpinSpendinCheese · 05/04/2024 01:38

A naf naf fleece. Cringe

mathanxiety · 05/04/2024 03:48

A gorgeous raspberry pink shirt dress with white buttons that I had when I was about 11. I wore it with white sandals. I wish I had one just like it now.

WeirdIsPartOfTheJob · 05/04/2024 04:23

Vinrtage 1970s long leather jacket (it was the 90s). It was black, came to just about my knees and was fitted to the waist and then flared out. It had a pear drop collar and large covered leather buttons.

At night I wore it with black suede knee boots with a block heel and slim platform, a snakeskin or black silk shirt and an a-line mini skirt (one was black suede another was black wool). During the day it was basically the same just a black polo neck rather than the shirt, with an Ethiopian cross pendant.

Lots of black eyeliner and mascara, honey bunny lipstick from Miss Selfridge and slightly back combed hair.

GogAndMagog · 05/04/2024 04:31

A pair of burgundy pointed flat leather shoes with three press studs on one side.

I just loved them, though they weren't school regulation brown or black!
