New thread to show what handbag you're using today, or what you're contemplating purchasing.

I'm lusting after this.

And using this today.

OK - currently having a coffee and smoked salmon bagel. I have looked at so many bags today: furlough, Kate spade, longchamp, mulberry, loewe, strathberry and some eye Wateringly expensive ones rhat did nothing for me in Liberty.

I have bought a Coach medium Willow ans had to co.primise on colour. I have bought a soft, mid blue. Nothing else quite ticked my boxes for functionality, size and ease of use. I had a look at one of Loewe bags pictured above and whilst beautiful, practically it didn't work. The zip was too short for the length of the bag and it would have been difficult to get things in and out.

Happy days.

@Penguinsmum is it possible to use the ebay authentication service if the seller doesn't offer it? I've just ordered a bag from Vestiaire which didn't have itt and its quite easy to send to their authentication process as an add on. Does it work the same way on ebay and if so how much does it cost?

I don't know tbh. I've only used it where the seller has offered it. It would be very good if you could add it on. I'd definitely use it. Not sure if anyone else knows?

Please post a pic of the coach willow! 😻

Will do when I'm home. Just at Earls Court. Tubes are a bit thin on the ground this afternoon.

I might have spent nearly as much on make-up and perfume Blush!

Ohhh what perfume? Or perfumes?

RosesAndHellebores · 06/04/2024 19:09

The perfume wasn't that off piste. In the end I reverted to an old favourite: Modern Muse Eau de Parfum by Estee Lauder, and a new foundation, I wanted their night cream but they didn't have it so the lovely lady put a free Mascara into the free gift which has enough moisturiser to last me at least a couple of months. Then a Lancome lippy and an eyebrow brush and pencil.

The bag is here. I am pleased. The cats may get some dreamies later Grin

Such a lovely shade of blue!

RosesAndHellebores · 06/04/2024 19:38

@HolidayAtNight not quite what I wanted but it will work with my wardrobe and I wasn't prepared to compromise on the bag because this works for me from a practical perspective.

Peanut spend compared to what some of you spend. I couldn't get excited about the Mulberry bags I looked at. I thought they were awesome when they were niche in the mid 80s.

poppyslashtulip · 06/04/2024 20:05

Alternating between these three at the moment. All quite loud and not for everyone!

Oh no I have gone and booked a holiday and now need a bag! This one has caught my eye but I don't need it...

@RosesAndHellebores Hopefully it will grow on you - I think it's really lovely, that rare mixture of a colour that will go with everything but is also interesting in its own right.

@poppyslashtulip Love the colour of the fuchsia one!

Who ever needed a new bag though? That's not the point 🙂

@Isabelle70, nah. Holiday bags are £50-£60 rafia jobs that can be buggered by salt and sand, and used to carry your Gucci cross body which contains what you need and comes out at night. The holiday bag itself can also be bought for small amounts of euros in the market when you get there and left behind when you have wrecked it.

Yeah I do agree with this. My beach bag is a £50 Hush number. No way I'm ruining a designer bag with sand.

Ooh, all this focus on handbags made me think back to my Enny days in the 80s, when I also had a classic navy Gucci cross body. Enny have long disappeared- they were lovely - very simple and soft buttery leather, classically Italian.

Then I recalled the mid 90s and about 10 years of a make called Tula when I was a SAHM. They were really nice bags, classic but quirky. I had no idea the original designer was behind Radley (they were more classic, in a quirky sort of way, less staid).

In the very early 90s just after we were married, DH asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I said an Enny bag (they were about £100). Fast forward to Christmas morning and I opened a gaudy, gilty Jane Shilton monstrosity! I had after all asked for "any bag". This may of course not resonate with those too young to remember Enny bags!

WingateAndSlim · 06/04/2024 22:29

Lovely to see so many Mulberrys on here. I’ve read many posts over the last few years saying they’re old hat but honestly, I keep coming back to the lovely leather and classic designs.

I’m currently after a small oak Anthony as a more rugged everyday carry. I’ve held off for ages as I’ve bought a few special occasion bags recently, but sod it, I should just buy it as I’ll get great value out of it! 😃

Penguinsmum · 07/04/2024 04:51

@RosesAndHellebores what a beautiful bag. Love the colour!

Isabelle70 · 07/04/2024 14:41

@Floofydawg @RosesAndHellebores it's ok I have had a word with myself and I do not need the bag! It would have been used of an evening as I have a perfect Primark number for the beach or pool :)

Or you could get yourself a new bag for the evening instead!

Hope your bag enjoys its outing! Out of interest, why do you have to be mindful of what your colleagues think in relation to what handbag you carry?

Because they earn half my salary and are struggling with CoL I'm close to retirement and not on a budget. Also public sector/academia. Obvious wealth would not go well!
