Ooh, all this focus on handbags made me think back to my Enny days in the 80s, when I also had a classic navy Gucci cross body. Enny have long disappeared- they were lovely - very simple and soft buttery leather, classically Italian.
Then I recalled the mid 90s and about 10 years of a make called Tula when I was a SAHM. They were really nice bags, classic but quirky. I had no idea the original designer was behind Radley (they were more classic, in a quirky sort of way, less staid).
In the very early 90s just after we were married, DH asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I said an Enny bag (they were about £100). Fast forward to Christmas morning and I opened a gaudy, gilty Jane Shilton monstrosity! I had after all asked for "any bag". This may of course not resonate with those too young to remember Enny bags!
