Ah, I'm similar but private sector. No one gives a shit if I go into the office touting my LV. Or maybe they do but they just talk behind my back!

I have to read the room a bit, especially as I'm the HR Director! If I walked into a meeting with the unions with an LV or Mulberry, I'd be accused of being tone deaf and my integrity would be shot! If my car's in the gge, I get an Uber rather than use DH's! Wait for the car thread when I retire!

Hello! Can I join and show off my brand newly ordered cyme in cognac from polene?! It hasn’t arrived yet but I’m so excited! I’m very tempted by the dix and beri aswell.

And it’s nearly two now but my favourite bag is my Paula’s Ibiza Loewe big puzzle bag, I bought it in the Madrid store. I dithered so much because it’s an unusual colour way but it’s amazing how many outfits it goes with!

I really like the look of the Polene bags. I need to find out if there are stockists outside Paris - the Periphique is as close as I get. I'm hoping they might evolve like Bobbies' shoes and be stocked at Harvey Nicks.

Might they reach Toulouse or Perpignan? Probably not.

I was lusting after the Polene numero dix but it had a big price rise whilst I was looking and I can't justify the increased cost, especially as I've read a few reviews about the quality not being what it used to be.

Polene is really hit and miss for quality, and customer service is non existent tbh. I’ve been lucky, because when they’re good they’re excellent, but a lot of people have had problems. Seems to be more related to smooth leather over grained.

Can you explain what you mean re smooth and grained leather please @InterIgnis

The bags in smooth leather seem to have the most quality issues, whereas the grained leather bags are generally much better.

Along with poor craftsmanship I don’t think the smooth leather is of the best quality.

I’ve got the Dix and the Huit, both in grained leather and they’re well made and hard wearing. That’s what is so annoying - they CAN do better, and the designs are fantastic. They just need to get their act together. I don’t know if it’s because their popularity has grown and they’re rushing to meet demand. Demellier have had similar issues too.

Regarding Polene, I would be interested to know what the issue is with the smooth leather? Does it just mark easily? I know smooth leather can do, even the good stuff.

No, it’s not to do with that. It seems to be the quality of the leather, as well as the craftsmanship. The smooth leather bags seem to be more sloppily put together.

I’m going to Paris next week and very tempted by the Numero Neuf in textured tan…
